2022 Friends Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion
Rotbart replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in LEGO Town
I don't know. Back side to me is just some small open rooms, where you can store the little things you need for playing with the stage. It will be quite a challenge to integrate this building into a city layout. You kind of need to hide the back side and also make sure, that you can still open it up to reveal the wonderful ideas and details of the interior. Don't get me wrong, I am very impressed with this set as a standalone building für play and display!- 136 replies

Very nice! Constructive feedback? Two things come to mind: More landscape around it. For example there is the bridge, where is the river? And second maybe set the two towers (to me it looks like two main towers) apart a bit more, so that each can stand out more on its own.

The shift from creativity to consumer fan base?
Rotbart replied to mikaelsol's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I think you have to make a distinction here between being a fan of LEGO bricks or LEGO minifigures and being a fan of LEGO the company. I can be a passionate fan of LEGO bricks but don't care or maybe even dislike the LEGO company, because they don't give me new molds, new minifigs, new sets of the theme I like the most. But Star Wars or Marvel fans get that. Let's compare this to NBA basketball: You can be a fan of the game of basketball. But most likely you will also be a fan of a team. Lucky you if you are from Los Angeles. You even got two teams (=themes) to choose from and you get plenty of games (=sets) and star players (=minifigs) every year to talk about. But if you are from Seattle, your favorite theme gets gets cancelled in 2008 (Supersonics move to Oklahoma). Of course you can still play basketball yourself (=MOCing) and rewatch old matches or talk about TOP 10 players of the 1990. And maybe lose passion for the company NBA in the process. It sucks to live in a small market area (=being a fan of a theme, LEGO thinks is not profitable enough). Being a Clippers or Lakers fan on the other hand offers you a much more comprehensive and exciting fan experience. (Well, maybe the Clippers not so much ) -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Actually it's not. Look closely. Both the jacket and the face are a little different. Maybe they are brothers. Or the Beagle Boys. -
Lego City 2022 Rumours, Leaks, Information And Discussion

Over here in Germany it's an exclusive set. It will probably arrive in a drugstore in a few months, Müller and/or Rossmann. -

What about a brick-built "UCS" goat? ~1000 pieces, complete with plaque ("the GOAT goat" :D ) and of course the one small minifig-scale mould that everyone actually wants. -

This is why Ninjago should end
Rotbart replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ninjago gave us Ninjago City, Docks and Gardens not to mention the wonderful Airjitzu Temple and several great Destiny's Bounties. Just for that I forgive them every and any shortcomings in other areas. Having said that, I mostly agree with Lego David. The TV show was pretty good up until the "Hunted" season and went downhill from there. No character development, run-of-the-mill bad guys, very predictable story lines. And talking about the Lego sets, I mean just look at the pictures for the upcoming 2022 wave. The biggest bad guy vehicle / structure is a forgettable helicopter. Same with the Legacy sets. Only ninja stuff, the largest bad guy set is a 30$ dragon, that's it. Recently only the Master of the Mountain wave had quite a few and good qualitiy bad guy sets. My son is 10 years old and one of the biggest Ninjago fans in town, but even he seems to be ready to move on. He still needs that Hydro Bounty though... -
Very Impressive! And great pictures, too! Nicely tiled floor in hall and kitchen. Almost too nice and tidy for a pirate's place. But then of course Redbeard is not just an ordinary pirate... I kind of get the impression, that every brick, every single plate, tile or leaf was carefully and deliberately chosen and put in it's place to make this a perfect MOC. Did you micromanage much or does this come naturally to you? Like the rock texture or the wall patterns or how the cave looks inside.

Brick-built Animals VS Molded Animals
Rotbart replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
i prefer brick-built animals. But I agree that it's quite difficult to get it right with smaller ones. The new Creator wave shows us a good example each of well done and pretty bad: The mice in 31120 and 31121: The castle mouse is really bad. I mean apparently even LEGO felt they needed to put a cheese slope next to it in order to make it recognizable. The snake food on the other hand looks really nice in my opinion. -
Really good! Original Idea, well executed. Piano robot is cute but looks kind of sad. Somehow I was reminded of Hundertwasser architecture. Just that the balconies "need" some trees and the different levels of the building different colors.

Who needs fancy decorations, have you seen all these gold coins in her belly?!? She does stand out, in a good way! Although the forward tipping masts look a little awkward to me.

Which creator 3in1 modular buildings do you rate the best?
Rotbart replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Best looking for me is the 6754 Family Home. But it has hardly any Interiour stuff. So overall I probably go with 31026 Bike Shop and Cafe. -
I would start with the Lego Ninjago movie. It's not canon to the TV show so you don't need any background knowledge. Not a great movie like the Lego Movie but good enough. I do like the tv show a little better though, more character development, interesting villains. If you gave it a try you should start at the beginning I think. The Pilot Episodes where the main characters meet and get trained as ninjas and than fight the Skulkin Army. Only after that start watching season 1 "Rise of the Snakes".

Even without much promotion LEGO can hardly keep up with demand of many sets. I believe the Gardens will be on backorder the very first day of its release. So why spend money on promotion? You would just create more unsatisfied customers because of unavailable product.

Alternative MOC set for 31083 Cruising Adventure!
Rotbart replied to Damiano Anger's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nice one! Constructing a good looking sailboat with any parts you might have is not easy, but doing this as a B-Model -> good job! I felt the same about the official secondary models. I almost did not buy the set because of that. -
Chinese New Year Sets - Rumors and Discussion
Rotbart replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Talk to customer service on the phone, though you might have to wait for half an hour or something. -
Careful, this thread is ooooulld, but should not be put to rest yet... My unpopular opinion: I don't care for animal moulds. Especially not the big ones like dragons and dinosaurs. This is Lego after all, not Playmobil or Schleich. Creator 3-in-1 regularly gives us good examples for brick-built animals, even small ones like dogs (31104 or 31097) and birds.

Maybe the designers of next years Modular will think of something. They put the Book Shop next to the Donut Shop and they will certainly want to have nice pictures for next years Modular together with the Police Station.

Comparing instructions from the early 1990 and 2020 I ... - ... like numbered bags - ... would like something in the middle of 40 steps (1990) and 400 steps (2020), let's say: 150. Of course I could work with less, but my kids now tend to have problems when building the sets from my childhood. And I do remember being frustrated myself sometimes, when in 1990 I missed one piece somewhere and needed quite some time to figure out where and when it happened. - ... don't like having many different colors in the build just for the sake of making the build process easier, even though you might not not see them once the set is finished. I'd rather have more pieces in useful colors for MODs/MOCs. - ... love that they introduced that every step includes this box with what parts and how many you need for this step in the instructions.

[MOD] 31109 Creator Pirate Ship MOD of Combining 2 Sets
Rotbart replied to Wurger49's topic in Pirate MOCs
Nice work! I especially like how you changed some of the sails. The spanker(?) looks so much better now and the bigger topsail is a very good change, too. Now about those jibs... Maybe you could try an old white plane wing (wedge plate 7x12)? -
Great idea! Probably something I will try out myself once I get my hands on 21322. Which means I will need a third copy of 31109 because I also want to build something like Wurger49's Ship MOD. Oh man...

MOC: Elvendale and the Dragon Sanctuary (pic heavy)
Rotbart replied to BenA's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Breathtaking! Although this more than impressive creation makes me kind of speechless, it actually pushed me over the edge to finally create an eurobricks account after lurking for many months. Congratulations! I especially like the cave village! Even the ceiling of it contains many details and art instead of just being a boring or technic-looking support structure. There is one minor thing that kind of irritates me: the blue and white color used for the river and water falls. But that's probably just me being used to LEGO using transparent pieces for flowing waters.
