  1. got to say thanx to all these people stressing about the same problem as me. I used the youtube method of yash yadav on one laptop and had no problem. On my other pc I i have wasted two hours and got nowhere. I will read all the comments above, in reverse order, using the theory that the combined wisdom of all respondents has increased the likelihood of a correct sol.ution towards the end. Just like humanity's inexorable upward progression to pure scientific understanding. I remain ever optimistic.
  2. Hi, just wanted to bump this question. I tried the tutorial of shafwan anis on youtube but it didn't work, although it worked a few weeks ago! Someone here must have some advice! If I can't get it to work I will have to use totally different software. Thanks
  3. Hi, I have just installed on windows 7 and ldd has no bricks in the palette. I half remember doing something when i installed on my other laptop, but I can't remember what. Is it something to do with it not able to go online. Any help gratefully received.
  4. As it says really, on start up stud.io says update needed to 1_10 it loads a patcher which says update aborted. Any advice please?
  5. There's a lot I think I love about ldd, but I can't compare it with anything. I love the way I have got to know it pretty well! But I find it difficult positioning pieces. Maybe it's me, maybe it's my laptop settings, specifically touch pad, maybe it's LDD. Do other people find it better to use a mouse for manipulating pieces? I know the mouse keyboard combo right cick + shift allows panning around the model, which I can't seem to do with the laptop alone. Any other suggestions would be welcome. LDD has given me confidence that I can use this kind of software, but it would be a shame to abandon it, all the shame.
  6. I have played about with ldd, and built a small project, but I am finding limitations. Often it is very hard to slot pieces together accurately. I have most of the functtions, but this lack of accuracy is annoying. Does anyone have any tips or can you suggest another app?
  7. Guys, I managed to do it using the resource/temporary file. I haven''t tried swapping between programmes yet, but I can open this thread to check it out, thanks. Are you familiar with Gnac's file with a load of wheels etc? It's kind of seems to have every single wheel available, which is kind of a problem fitting rubber to rim, and rim to lego plate, because I have already discovered they don't all fit together, let alone look good together. Is there a guide with a few of the most popular wheels etc, perhaps twenty combinations. I've googled, but haven't found yet. I can see wheels becoming a really tedious thing.
  8. Is this possible? Gnac on this site posted a really useful ldd file of tyres and rims, which made the job of fixing them to axles easier, if still tricky, Now I have united a set of wheels, rims and plates that work, I would like to keep them in ne file as a resource, and copy them to other files whenever needed. Am I missing something?
  9. Thanks, view-themes does the trick. The one which is not bold must necessarily be what the file currently is. I have another question regarding wheels and hubs, but I'll start a new topic.
  10. Hi, so for ages I was frustrated because I couldn't seem to use the paint tool with full functionality, until I opened a new file in extended which had the full functionality of paint tool (with the three icons below the other icons at the top). Is there a way to tell whether the file I am using it normal or extended?
  11. Sylvian, I'm very happy with less perfection. Those windows were a kind of tolerance test, if you kn..ow what I mean. On megabricks I found a very good window. I''ll show you but my pc is playing up. I read your guide on IDs, and tested the digits in various progs and sites. Good practice. Studs not on top makes sense from when I was a kid. I'm slowly getting there, comparing two different progs really helps. basically megabricks and LDD.
  12. Hi guys, I thought I might make a model of my house (attached) to start with. And the first stumbling block I met was the windows. I searched parts on both bricklink and rebrickable and couldn't find the exact window frames. I also searched house in parts, but no dice. Am I expecting too much? Yours Robin
  13. Sylvan and Mab, thanks for your advice. I just know this is going to be frustrating at times, but really rewarding,I hope! I'll share my success here. Robin
  14. Sylvain thanks for your swift reply. It makes a lot of sense. What if I were to browse completed models that architecturally are like mine, either in LDD or other programmes or websites, like Bricklink's or Rebrickable? Could I then see a part I like, find out the ID, and then search for that in LDD?
  15. Dear all, I'm new to lego design, starting from zero basically. I have an ambitious plan to make a large building I used to know. But I have quickly realised the hard part will be finding the parts, without the part number, but only from my description. I have already tried to find plants under signs, but can't find them there or anywhere, using LDD. What is the best tool to use for this? Is one programme or website better than others at this? Browsing through the LDD palette looks like it will take ages. I can think of pieces for such obscure purposes that I couldn't possibly name them! yours Robin
