LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 6 Discussion

After giving up half way through Series 5 due to getting too many duplicates, I decided to get serious with Series 6. I focused on a single box with a single batch number (539B1) at my local Smyths toy store. I primarily used the bump codes to avoid duplicates, occasionally needing to resort to the touch test. It worked pretty well; I got all 16 with only 1 duplicate, a Highlander with an extra bump on the bag I missed the first time around. I really like this set. There are some very unique pieces with the Butcher, Sleepyhead, Roman Soldier, Lady Liberty, Surgeon, Minotaur, Genie and Clockwork Robot. I think the likes of the Intergalactic Girl, Bandit and Skater Girl have been done to death.

    Which set should I buy?

I recently got both the Imperial Flagship and the Shuttle Adventure. The Flagship was a more challenging build and is probably more playable, but I was very happy to get the Shuttle as a way of remembering the actual Space Shuttle. Building the Shuttle at the same time as watching footage of Atlantis coming into land for the last time was pretty cool.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion

I'm starting to think that Series 5 will be the last series I collect. The number of duplicates I've found is getting fairly frustrating. Even the "feel" method doesn't seem to work all the time. (Of course that could be just me). I'm thinking of creating an exchange where people can send in their duplicate minifigures, receive a credit in return and then exchange that credit for a minifigure they're looking for. Rather then trying to find someone who has what you are looking for and vice versa, it would operate as a central repository. Hmm, now if only I wasn't working 60 hours a week, I might have time to put this together. Anyone think this might be a good idea, or just a waste of time?

    REVIEW: 10210 Imperial Flagship

I finished building this set recently (€139 + shipping from Pixmania.ie) and now have it and the "Queen Anne's Revenge" sitting on the mantle piece. Of course this did result in me getting the "look" from my wife! It's a big set and looks impressive when it's displayed. The one thing I think the QAR has over the Flagship is that you don't have to take the decks and masts off the QAR to get at the cannons. I also found that whenever I picked it up for the first couple of days, I had a tendency to dislodge the bow. I've since learned to pick it up differently Have you tried Pixmania.co.uk? They're selling it for £110.30 plus £9.60 shipping.

    Question about the Imperial Flagship

The previous Imperial Flagship (6271) was called the "Sea Lion", so you could probably get away calling it that. You could also call it the "Saw Fish" because of the decoration on the bow. Hmm, I hadn't thought about it, but now I think I'm tempted to go with "Saw Fish"...

    Hello from Ireland

My father bought me my first piece of Lego around 1980 (#608 - Taxi). I then collected pieces for a number of years, mainly Town, Castle and Space, with a couple of Technic pieces thrown in for good measure. (Who didn’t like the Arctic Technic range?) And then the Dark Age began. Fast forward 20 years, and I encounter the Imperial Star Destroyer #6211. And now I’m collecting again. This time around it’s City, Classic Star Wars, Modular Buildings and MiniFigures. I’ve retrieved my old collection, along with most of the original boxes and instructions (cue the wife rolling her eyes) from my parent’s attic, cleaned it up and put it all back together. I recently bought my own son his first piece of Lego, which for me, has a wonderful symmetry to it. Of course, he feels that ‘my’ collection is really ‘his’ collection, so the two of us play with the whole lot of it together. Which is sort of the point really...

Has anyone noticed that there appears to be different sets of bump codes on the bottom of the packs. There are alpha-numeric codes (also on the bottom of the packs) that seem to identify which set the bump codes belong to. So far I've encountered "216B1" and "618B1" sets. This has resulted in purchasing duplicates even though the bump codes are different. If anyone is interested, I have extras of the Boxer (1), Detective (1) and Fitness Instructor (2).
