Bonaparte should buy all of those blue coats to add to his massive army. Argh, I would love to buy this stuff, but I have no where near the amount of money this would all cost, but you are really offering it at a superb price, in my opinion. All those bluecoats...and in such decent condition too. The only bluecoats I still have do not have a fragment of blue on their coats anymore. Way too much play received from all the hands they've been passed down from.

Oh, uh...thanks! I hope I am of some good on the quests. I gotta get some gold you know.
-
Ah, thanks! I knew I saw it somewhere, but I didn't see it in the index, so I was kind of wondering.
-
Thanks! How exactly do we find out whether or not we can participate in a new mission? Or, in fact, when a new mission is to be launched? Will it be announced in the Heroica Hall, or will a new topic just be made or is it in the index?
-
Down the road coming to the hill the sound of clinking gold and creaking wheels can be heard approaching Heroica Hall. "What the devil?" several guards question at the sight of an old (very old) monk meets their eyes. What is more surprising is the load that he bears in his wheeled trunk. It is a combination of gold, paper, ink, and weapons, not to mention a few oddities. "Who the devil are you?" demands one fellow of him. For a man who has taken the vow of poverty, he does seem somewhat wealthy with an $100 bill hanging prominently out of his wagon, not to mention the pieces of gold as well. "Please, I would prefer if that name were not mentioned in my presence. I am a hermit. "Ah! Of what race?" the guards ask. "Of the 'hermit' race." "Since when have the 'hermits' been a race?" question the guards doubtfully, bordering, perhaps, on annoyance at his somewhat impudent manner. "You look as human as any," suggests a younger guard. "Indeed, I thought the same thing myself," answered the monk, "in fact, my whole life I believed I was a human, but when I became an hundred and fifty years of age, I determined that I indeed was not a human, but, not knowing what to make of myself, I have been calling myself "just a 'hermit'" ever since then." "So, how old are you now, 'hermit'?" laughed one guard, although in all honesty, he was not sure why. "Over three times the age I was when I learned that I was no mere human," replied the man of the cloth. "Well then, ancient of days--" "I would that you refrain from referring to me as such. There is only one--" "Alright, alright! Anyways, welcome to the Hall of Heroica. What is your business here?" "I have come in search of gold and treasure." "What!?!" gasped a guard. "I thought you were a man of the cloth." "Indeed, I am," responded the monk. "Then, having taken the vow of poverty. Why do you come here in search of the very things that you vowed to not lust." "Do not question the workings of the messengers of God," declared the monk, avoiding the issue raised. "Perhaps you question it because you are not a son of God. Earn your salvation with a pitance to God or you shall rot in Hell. Surely salvation is worth more to you than a few pieces of gold that do perish--" "Umm...I will have your name then." "Do not interupt a man of God as he..." with that the monk proceeded to lecture the guards for all of an hour on their adultered virginity and other such things until finally each guard handed him a gold coin to silence him. "Your way to salvation appears brighter," the monk reassured them. "May I have your name then?" inquired the leading guard. "Monk Pretzel," the monk replied, "and these are my ninety-nine pieces." "Ninety-Nine pieces? I looks more like twenty to me." "Ninety-Nine half-pieces is the correct term. I had ninety-nine pieces in total, which I hung as ornaments on the cathedral door, but the priest considered them sack-religious and tore them down, banishing me from the church. I have been a hermit since then and have carried the ninety-nine half pieces with me, while the other half are hidden in a secret cavern in--" "You need not tell me where your secret is hidden. Come now into the hall." "You are too kind!" "It is the least I can do," said the somewhat exasperated guard wondering how he could have let the old man ruin so much of his day. "What a dreadful fellow," he muttered once the monk had passed through the doors. "I hope he leaves on a quest soon, or else is banished." PS: Will add more pictures if time permits. Hope I did the signature part right.

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
Palathadric replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Just when we thought this work was utterly forgotten (actually, not "just", I've been thinking it had been forgotten for quite some time now), you update it again. I suppose our nagging finally paid off! This is great work! Truly. I really look forward to your future updates, and if you can save all of your updates into one topic without any outside comments like Cadern Derfel's: "Detailed Guide..." I would be all the more grateful, hint, hint! -

I don't know. Do you think I should have used this helmet or maybe I should have used the normal helmet with the 3843 visor. What do you think? I used this one because of the wings.- 2222 replies

I have to admit that that HP troll does look like the one in the movie, but man the movie one is sick. Seriously. It doesn't make me like it anymore, and I think it really doesn't have much of the "toy-like" look. All-in-all, I think a troll should look a lot more like the fantasy one than the HP one. The Fantasy one looks more like a beast. The HP one looks like a tall guy with a fat belly. Fantasy any day, fantasy!
-
Well, Brickshelf seems to be down today. I guess Flicker is the way to go then. Shame!
-
Agreed. The new ones don't really look like Lego anymore. Although, I have to admit, they do look good.

Darn! I wanted to post some pictures today for the Reviewer's Academy. Hope it get up and running soon, otherwise...well... PS: I think there was another thread where we were supposed to post this brickshelf related stuff...

Do you think you could explain some of these things in greater detail for some of us newbies. I figure you did The "area lighting" and moving of the lights is pov-ray, right? Or in LDView. I don't use LDView so I don't really know. Also the colour changes, you did that in MLCad, I'm guessing? Would love to do such high quality renders as these!- 2222 replies

The Fantasy Troll looks much more toy-like, let me say and, honestly, more how I think a troll should look, very big and muscular, but almost too big that he gets in the way of himself. The HP troll looks like a squirt with a big belly. I still can't get over the horribly ugly face, it's not impressively fierce at all. The fantasy troll has a nice blend of toy-cuteness and also troll-fierceness, but that's just me talking. I would like to see what kind of trolls they come out with for the Lord of the Rings line, but suffice it to say, I hope they look closer to the Fantasy Troll than to the HP one. Again, just my opinion, although I think the majority seem to favour, if even just slightly, the Fantasy troll. ...If you can get a poll going though... Honestly the only thing I find "Lego-looking" about the HP troll is the head, but then again, I don't own either of them. Although, from the picture, I can't say I am too disappointed to not own the HP one.

Which is mightier - Black Seas Barracuda OR Brickbeard's Bounty?
Palathadric replied to Captain Zuloo's topic in LEGO Pirates
The SES still rules them all...but that's not what this thread is about is it... Honestly, I prefer the mast and general building style of the old ships, but that's just me. I was actually, pleasantly surprised seeing the crew on the BB. For the most part I don't like too many of the new minifigs, but, perhaps, I am getting more used to them now. I still think the pirates from the RBR are the crowning crew, but most of these guys aren't too bad. I don't really like the captain though ...don't know why. -
Vader is definitely a hell of a lot better than Anakin. Anakin is, in my opinion really annoying, and kind of ruins two of the movies. Although, I guess, without him...well...

How on earth did you manage to do such a good render?! Did you use the LGEO Library or what? If so, can you please let me know how you got it working? And if not just let me know how you did it? ...please- 2222 replies

Yes, TLG should definitely keep the yellow skin-tone. Trying to make all sorts of different races and things would be a bit ridiculous, in my opinion. Yellow is such a nice happy colour anyway. I agree with you entirely...I think.

I guess that's what I meant about Flicker pictures being hard to download. Perhaps somebody limited the downloads to their contacts, thus I wasn't able to download their pictures or something. I still think Flicker is unwielding; although, undoubtedly, it has a lot more features and is a lot more up to the times than Brickshelf. I, think for the most part, people have seemed to say that they would prefer a few more of the best pictures here in EB and then a link to Flicker, Brickshelf, etc., in case they deem the MOC exceptionally good.
-
It depends. My internet is very slow, so having tons of pictures pop up on EB can be a slow and frustrating experience. Honestly, I never go to someone's Bricklink or Flicker unless the MOC is very good. Even then, I prefer to download the images so I can save them for future use. Flicker especially is very frustrating and incredibly annoying when the pictures cannot be downloaded. Generally, for me, Flicker is an absolute no, no. Brickshelf is also a bit annoying for downloading images because you need to open each picture in a separate tab and then save them. This is often, for my slow internet, a long and frustrating experience. I think the best is to have a decent amount of pictures (maybe between five and ten) posted on EB, and then a whole bunch of download links for the other pictures. Although, that will take a fair bit of time for the poster. PS: Oh, then you can still have a link to the Flicker or Brickshelf account if anyone is interested. The only issue I have with Firefox, and any other non-internet explorer web browser that I have used, is that they cannot save to, nor open, mhtml files, and to me, if I cannot save it in mhtml, I will probably not save it. Doesn't anyone share my feelings about this, Generally, I use Firefox for the most part and then internet explorer for downloading mhtml files and opening them.

The Fantasy troll. Always the Fantasy troll. The Fantasy toll looks cute, but at the same time big, powerful, and fierce (alright, I'll admit, I don't know how that even makes sense). The HP troll looks in my opinion less "Legolike" than the HP one, and just looks boring, in my opinion, in general. Here's the difference: I like the Fantasy troll and I hate the HP one. ...no, seriously.
