A nanoscale Avengers Tower? How the hell would that work? Half of NY being included or what? :laugh_hard: We’ve already had a small-scale AT as a GWP before, how would you turn that into a $500 set?

This is the MiCrOsCaLe DiAgOn AlLeY discussion all over again :roflmao:

Seriously - I feel like people don't understand how microscale actually works. It works for Hogwarts Castle because in universe it's like 10x larger than Avengers Tower, or for the Helicarrier because of the surface area it covers. But it would make 0 sense for Avengers Tower (even if a Leviathan is included) :laugh_hard:

Not that surprised about the Sanctum’s release date though, as that was based on the assumption that it was a D2C set. Still, you don’t see regular sets at that price point every day :shrug_oh_well:

Seems like it'll be this year's equivalent of the Guardians' Ship - >= $150 but still a regular set.

My point is not that it‘s hard to decide what to include in a set like that for $500. They could easily do it for $1000 by including even more stuff  My point is that this should‘ve been a $250 set instead. Do we *really* need the station(s) too?

If it comes with the powered up components, I can see them justifying the price (a battery box alone costs $50 retail). Otherwise I 100% agree with you - even $400 would be somewhat okay for the set. But $470 seems crazy to me.

But I don't see a casual Lego fan buying a 200€ set that takes 8 hours to build.

I know people who did exactly this 🤷‍♂️, adults with disposable income are generally ok with spending if they really like the model. Especially if they played with LEGO as a kid.

Just to be clear, I would've absolutely preferred a UCS Avengers Tower over this, but I feel like this 18+ UCS Hulkbuster will sell like hotcakes.

This sounds like a real UCS, and if it looks beautiful and display ready

Exactly. This will likely get the full modern UCS treatment (display oriented, black box, 18+, etc), which makes it feel different from the previous one.

I know that if Lego makes this is because it has a market and its profitable, but seriously who buys this

Casual or brand new LEGO fans who love Iron Man and/or the MCU. Those people couldn't care less about what figures are included in a set, they just want a challenging and impressive display model. A building, as much as I want one, unfortunately just doesn't look as eye catching as a giant Hulkbuster.

Probably a very unpopular opinion here but I actually think that set is pretty mediocre. The figures are a mixed bag and the Compound build is just meh :def_shrug:

I 100% agree. I had high expectations, but I was super underwhelmed with the final result. The figures are fine but the build is just so boring and not worth displaying. I'm probably going to create a MOC that represents the scene in a more display-friendly way.

The only reason I haven't ordered from Minifigures Plus yet is because it says they won't ship until February 2022. That seems like a really long wait for a sealed box and the next series would be out by then. I might order from them anyway and still buy random packs in September, but I'd love to find a US seller that will ship in September/October.

Edit: Apparently the Minifigures Plus website advertises a mid-September ship date. On Brickset it was February. Not sure why it's different but yeah, that price is unbeatable.

They say in the comments on the Brickset forum that it was a mistake, and they actually meant mid-September

seems they have raised the price from 149 to 159 for a case

It's $149 if you go contact them thru the Brickset forum, but $159 regularly on their website

Whoops, okay then. I forgot about Brexit so feel free to disregard my comments. When I've shopped from other retailers in Europe like Brickshop, VAT was excluded from my total purchase price after putting in a US delivery address, although I don't know how the VAT laws in the Netherlands might differ. I certainly wasn't told about any way to reclaim the VAT amount and after the whole import taxes debacle that took weeks to resolve with Minifigure Maddness, I'm probably going to find a different retailer to buy a sealed box from this time. I looked into JB Spielwaren but sadly it seems like they only ship in Europe.

For you and others in the US, I'd highly recommend Minifigures Plus. Their box price is $149 USD w/ free shipping and no tax, which seems impossible to beat here: https://forum.brickset.com/discussion/36404/minifigures-plus-marvel-studios-collectible-minifigures-71031-pre-order.

Do they only sell boxes or complete sets? No individual "open bag" minifigs?

Hmm I'm not sure, I've only seen them sell boxes and full sets as you said. Full disclosure though, I've never personally ordered from them before because shipping to the US is pricey, but I've seen a lot of people here on Eurobricks mention them so I'm pretty sure they're a good place to buy from.

Ahhhh I don't like that Lego.com US is no longer selling complete boxes of these CMFs. Where is that feature when I need it? Looks like it's gonna be eBay for me.

Minifiguresplus usually sells them in the US for a really good price. I can post a link once they put pre-orders up, because I'm definitely buying a box too :moar:

Made a very rough edit of the Vision figure with adjusted brightness and contrast and an added cape and I gotta say that, dead eyes and the lack of a blue stone aside, this is an amazing figure.

It went from my least favorite in the series to my second favorite (after Captain America Sam Wilson). Don't judge a fig based on a potato quality pic, people!
