My third and Final review of today is the final planet set in series 1 9676 TIE Interceptor & Death Star. The set again looks very good in the packaging with the Death Star's lazer looking out at you. Worth noting is that this set has no planet printing, all the detail is molded. Just 2 bags in this and not as many parts but they are larger parts. As I said earlier there is no printing on the Death Star just molding. Of course you also get two different parts, you would not your DS to have 2 giant lazers would you! The instructions. Some nice techniques to make the main hull look round. The Tie pilot fig has the new face printed black head. 2 printed parts in this set. The TIE window is a great new part! A good mini build and the hull looks good for a small round ball. The finished mini TIE looks good. Much better than the last one, which was quite some time ago now. The stand is the same as the Naboo one. The finished display. The Death Star! Lego movie makers are going to love this. The 2 parts don't lock all the way together so you get the gap around the DS equator. Left over parts with the hanging piece. The whole set. This was probably my most anticipated set of the planet line and it is very good. The Death Star mold is perfect and will end up hanging from christmas trees everywhere next year ! The mini Tie is a nice looking set and we finaly can get a TIE pilot in a cheap set. Well worth the £10.

Thank you you for the fantastic review Siegfried! This is by far the best TIE we have had ,ok so it is a close second the the UCS Vader's TIE but still . The Minifigs are great in what is really only a medium size set. The price is a little steep, with this being £10 more than your pictured TIE Defender in the UK. I will be looking for a 3 for 2 deal to get my copies of this set.

TLC this year have changed the Battle packs to include 2 factions in each BP to give kids a battle in the box. Also the part counts are back up to the same kind of levels we saw in the first BP. This means In the UK the price has gone up by £2 or 20% still to be confirmed if other countries will se a rise in price as well. Price £12 (UK) The Box is still the same size as the older BP (other new sets I have got are in the new smaller size ) The box has the just 2 bags like most BP. The range finders and visors are in their own bag in the large bag. The parts page. A very nice selection The small cartoon now in the instructions. Not many Minifigs have 7 building steps but the new Elite Clone does! The minifigs of this set have been creating a real buzz around the web and they don't disappoint when you gwet you hands on them. The Elite Clone Trooper is a real thing of beauty. I can't think of a better Star Wars fig to date. The back pack is simple yet looks good. The new ARF I another nice fig with some great new helmet printing. I has been suggested that he part of Commander Wolf's Regiment The new Commando Droids again very good figs with a great new head mold and nice printing. They are dark brown without the metalic hints we saw in preliminary shot which is a shame. All the figs to show height differences. The set come with crazy amount of Dark red range finders and visors. The cannon has some great parts and it is nice to see Battle packs with a good part selection again. The finished cannon is a good build with the now statutory flick fire missle. The left over parts. The finished set. I am really happy with this set even if it has meant a UK price hike. The minifigs are just fantastic with the Elite clone being one of the best ever produced in my humble opinion. The parts selection is also very good and means a few sets together will be much better than the limited part of the last BP's. I doubt I nead to tell many of you reading this that you nead this set but you do. A great set! Edit: poll added

I managed to get a couple of the new 2012 mini's this week from Bricklink. I will start off with a review of the 30056 Mini Star Destroyer. The bags have the new Darth Maul art like the boxes. Bag contents. Not sure why they have to fold the instuctions quite so small. The instructions. This is a very simple build. Parts are not to bad, can you ever have enough gray wedge plates! As I said the build is very simple. The finished set is not bad at all. The main shape is pretty good and even the engine area is not too bad. The engines have about all the detail you could expect at this scale. The shape is not quite right but again working at this scale you can not expect much more. I think the bridge could have been a bit bigger. Maybe add a 1x1 tile between the two shield genarators. The left over parts. The whole set. A nice mini (which I am a fan) with a good shape captured of the Star Destroyer. I hope these will end up in some kind of promo this year as I would like to grab a few more.

Very nice review! I really like this set, the cannon is good the figs are great and the price (well in the UK) is good too. Really nice sharp pictures D.W!

Massive MIDI Model Update: The Imperial Navy!
mutley777 replied to Legostein's topic in LEGO Star Wars
A nice set of midi ships. Really takes me back to the days of my first PC playing the games X-wing and then TIE Fighter! -
My second review of the new mini sets is the 30058 STAP. I also picked this up from a Bricklink seller. The bag. Like the last Clone Wars STAP mini set you don't get many parts. I have been through the last STAP instructions and this one has a few changes. The major change is the long brown slope on the front here. This part replaces 5 smaller parts from the CW one. The finished STAP is pretty good. They have come along way since the 7121 Naboo Swamp set. The left overs. The whole set. I like the mini sets with a minifig and this one is no exception. The finished STAP looks good to me and you can never have to many Battle Droids! Like the new Star destroyer I hope this ends up on some kind of UK news paper promo. I managed to get 29 of the last CW STAP when that promo was on. I wonder if I can beat that.

I finally got round to opening the planet sets yesterday so here is the the review for all you guys that have been waiting for one. I am not quite sure where Lego came up with the idea for the planet sets but I think as ideas for new products go it is not a bad one. The new Box looks very nice and shows of the planet well but this is also a major design flaw. If you pick one of these up in a normal shelf display then the planet is going to have been handled by every kid with sticky, snotty hands. I might have been dropped, have scratches and god knows what else on it. Order them direct if you can I would say. They do look very nice though. Getting the planet out of the box can be a bit tricky if you don't want to damage it. The bags come almost vacuum packed inside the planet. The planet Naboo parts are both printed exactly the same. The instuctions. The Pilot fig is the same as last summers System scale set. The plaque is printed which is nice the 1x1 round plates are the only metallic looking parts. The Starfighter build is good but would have been so much better if all the light blay was metallic coloured. The finished N1 Starfighter looks very good for a mini! Almost no studs in this scale is a very good achievement. The set and fig with stand look good for display. The planet looks good on the stand but it also has the part for it to be hung on string. The Nabbo planet parts as I said earlier are both the same part printed the exactly the same. Now this should be fine but the land masses don't really line up correctly and you can see light blue shallow water prints where there is no land. This is a bit of a shame but it is also noticeable on the Super high res pics we got last year. I will add that the other 2 planets don't have this problem. The leftover parts include the planet hanging part. The whole set. I do like these Planet sets and think they could sell well. The mini Nabbo fighter is great and you get the fig and the planet looks very good too. The printing issue should have been sorted out though and might get adressed in future poduction runs. The packaging is still my main concern with these sets. Yes it looks good and shows of the planet well but never before has a lego part been open to the elements so much as these are. Time will tell on this one. Still it is a nice set for £10.

Second review to day of the second planet set 9675 Sebulba's Podracer & Tatooine. The box again looks great but still has those design flaws I talked about in the Naboo planet review. A extra bag with the minifig this time. Many more parts in this set even if they are smaller. The planet part is again the same print on both parts. Instrucions page. The sebulba fig is the same from last summers podracer set so this is a nice cheap way to get him. The printed plaque for this set. The build is very good for a mini set and has a good parts selection. The finshed Podracer is very good! The stand is simple but looks nice. The finished set looks impressive on display! Well for a mini. Tatooine looks better than Naboo and the print lines up perfectly! Not alot left over. The hanging part is included here. The full set. A good set in the planet series again. The mini Podracer is very well built and the fig is a good chance to get a rare fig cheap. The planet looks perfect with none of the printing issues I had with Naboo!

Excellent MOC! Some very nice detailing. You should add some more pictures of close ups.

I buy quite a bit of lego and while it is never intentionally bought for resale from time to time I do part with some sets. My reasoning is that I would rather buy mutipules of a set on sale now than pay over the odds at a later date if I do want another. This way I am never out of pocket as I always have the resale chanels for sets I don't want later.
-
Thanks for all the comments guys. Do you really think I am that stupid! There is only 4 different ways each planet can be connected because of the 4 fingers on each half. I tried all 4 with Naboo and only the one that I have in my pictures looks any good and it still does not match up right. The printing pattern just does not match up like the Tatooine one does.

I would say I am in the 99% club. I only own 7 or 8 non SW sets. The biggest one being the stunning Green grocer set.

Amazon UK has 4 of the new Star Wars sets on sale already! Only 10% and 12% off but if you can't wait for bigger sales and want them now this is for you. Geonosian Cannon £17.94 Droid Escape £17.94 Elite Clone Trooper and Commando Droid BP £10.60 Endor Rebel Trooper and Imperial Trooper BP £10.60

Well I am just a builder and I don't mean the lego kind this time. Also of all the sets I bought, I would say 70% were bought in sales or deals. I only paid RRP for 7 or 8 of them.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
mutley777 replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Well I would not say it is a indication of what sets to expect but we have had sets come out the next year after a mini version has been released the year before. It shows that TLC are interested in the Clone Wars MTT if nothing else. We did get the Mini X-wing in 2011 (in the new Blue baggie) and now have the system scale one. So while it is not a exact science it could happen. -
A really, really nice MOC Doc! The TIE Interseptor is my favourite TIE ship (The Tie Defender is EU So I don't count it)so it is always nice to se a lego fan do it the justice it deserves. Some great details but like you say that back of the main pod has turned out really good!
-
A very nice MOC! Luke looks great with the Endor Rebel helmet and those speeder are excellent! The foliage looks very lush just like Endor.
-
Thank you for a great review of the fantastic new set! This is such a great new set with a much better looking X-wing than we have had before (not counting the UCS). The new figs are great to with the highlight being that lovely R5-D8 droid! That new droid head is stunning.

I received my Jan lego catalogue with all the new star wars sets listed. Prices are official UK GBP prices. Gold Leaders Y-wing 458 parts £59.99 Tie Fighter 413 parts £49.99 X-wing Starfighter 560 parts £49.99 Anakin's Jedi Interceptor 300 parts £35.99 Geonosian Cannon 132 parts £19.99 Droid Escape 137 parts £19.99 Endor BP 77 parts £11.99 Clone Droid BP 98 parts £11.99 Planet sets £9.99 Not sure if it is just me but the Y-wing seems very over priced. I get that it has more larger parts and so costs are higher but even so. The last Y-wing was £40 and ended up on sale for half price nearly everywhere!
