The interesting, obviously. This includes Lego Technic, fixing machines (all I can afford to fix are bicycles), and reading.

  1. The plan was the rather predictable car-into-jet-aircraft, but I think the way I was planning on achieving it would be fairly unique. I'm rather excited about the challenges this model would present, so I expect I would build it, contest or no.
  2. Personally I'd prefer a wider scope, but that's probably mostly because I've already got a vehicle-to-vehicle transformation planned out. This is just my preference, though, and it may not actually make for a better contest.
  3. As a third option, you could always try to emulate Red Green and do it with a K-car and a boat trailer! I think that would be an awesome contest entry, actually... I've already got my imagination fired up, though, with a completely different model in mind. Does anyone else find that planning models is more fun than building them? Thanks for starting contests and sparking ideas!
  4. There is some Viper in there, but to me it's a C7 Corvette on the front and a Mercedes-AMG GT on the back.
  5. I'm not familiar with that, but I believe Audi recently revealed a concept vehicle with an adjustable wheelbase.
  6. How does that battery work for you? I'm kind of intrigued by it--especially why it has six leads per plug! Could some sort of sensor be coming to this PF-based platform?
  7. A lot will depend on how much room you have inside the tractor, and where, but the simplest solution, in my opinion, would be to get rid of the bevel gears on the linear actuator and then use a universal joint instead to get the drive axle longitudinally mounted, where you could then easily add a motor.
  8. That would work very well, and would allow all three speeds and the bed to be operated, but I was assuming that that wouldn't fit (and would definitely be a major modification) so I was just suggesting to hook it directly up to the wave selector, and then using its three different 90 degree positions to control the bed and two of the speeds (with the third one being ignored)
  9. Probably part of this is a desire to get more usage out of the new parts released in certain colors (Though the Senna was a different blue than the Chiron. I hadn't noticed this either!
  10. Could a Servo be worked into the space for the shifting motor with one of the gears just being ignored?

I would expect that in order to achieve a realistic enough shape to please BMW they would need either a new mold or just the flexible plastic one again. A new mold would obviously look better, but if they can put the new-mold costs towards something more important and reusable (like a 32T gear!) I would be fine with that.

I've designed a lot of gearboxes over the past few years, and, at least with current pieces, reliable sequential 6-speeds are extremely hard to make. Not that it's impossible, but I don't think it's too likely that they will do it, unfortunately

Thanks! The older version is occasionally useful, but this one is a definite improvement. It's release somehow escaped me!
