To be fair, that was pretty much true of the non-golden house elves as well. Would not have wanted to wake up to something like that. They don't generally turn bonus gifts into regular sets (the Bricktober minifig set with Boggart!Snape was an exception that comes to mind), if a GWP is purchasable at some point, it's usually because it was the other way around, that they used something like the Hermione polybag as an extra gift. The sets do however reappear from time to time as a GWP at a later point (like last year's Monster Book of Monsters). That's not consistent enough that I'd want to count on it, though.

Yeah, I'd have liked that, too. I don't think it's double columns of windows, though. I think it's two 90* rotated 1x4x1 fence pieces that form the gitter of each window. They can't be more than four studs wide each and there are vertical brick yellow lines visible within the space. Alright you dream mangling mob, how about Dragold and Gobby, then, with stand bases included? (Dobby was first seen as a minifig in 2002, as were Draco and McGonagall.)
-
Hey wasn't there a leaked golden Draco hair piece at some point? Does anyone recall? And if so, has it turned up in another theme, or is it still unaccounted for?
-
How terribly sensible of you , and you're probably right, too. (Even worse, this isn't the first time someone has had to point that out to me. I don't have the Icons set and always forget the stand.) Does it lend itself easily to modding in a different configuration that would hold ten? Or extend itself? I really need to look up how it was built...
-
Right you are... So... Gents? What say you? How about Dragold being included in the GWP at the end of the month. I still think it's odd having golden McGonagall (not a fig 20 years ago), Hagrid, Quirrell (only in the one book / film) and even Voldemort (not even a character in the films 20 years ago) and not the little ferret.

I'm still holding out for the lifesized brick built version Dobby's sock. Now with authentic Harry odor...

I'm not sure it's so much a question of inconsistency as having the advantage of market research we're not privy to, especially as I've noticed other manufacturers treating the trio similarly, with Ron as an afterthought, if at all, or in need of an extra selling point. Lego bundled Dumbledore with Ron in the original HP brickheadz, Paladone only offers the Harry and Hermione egg cups here, or funko includes more of the potions classroom with Ron in the mini moments line (the latter for the same price, btw). Budgets are things, both for stores with limited inventory / shelf space and for their customers, who unfortunately often have to pick and choose their purchases. If a customer could only buy one of the trio, I suspect most males would gravitate towards Harry and the females would be split between Hermione and Harry, with neither group favouring poor Ron. (Sample size of one, but personally I own the Hermione keychain and neither of the boys. I also built and displayed the Hermione maxifig and left Harry in the bags, and while I purchased both the Hermione and Harry brickheadz, I gave the Ron / Dumbledore set a pass because I'd already spent more than I'd originally intended on lego that year, and that reflects my priorities.) While that's all anecdotal and only my guess, Lego has had those brickheadz and the keychains to help gauge individual sales, and I doubt it's coincidence that they released a Hermione polybag instead of a Ron, or included her in the maxifig set instead.

You're welcome, @Yope. I'm currently working my way through the MOC megathread, because some of our best designers post there and I wouldn't want them to come too short. I was thinking I'd try a listing by designer, as well. Say, if you haven't put Snape's Class (very nicely updated, btw ) in the MOC thread, maybe do so? Things get completely lost in 400 pages worth of rumours, never mind that they're locked at the end of the year (and probably rarely revisited)...

Oh, you cynic... (Almost definitely right, though. )

One of you always seems to know about their outfits. Was there a scene in the dorms with those clothes I've just forgotten? Christmas they had the Weasley jumpers, they usually change in the Express before arriving at school, and I don't recall a scene after Snape's office in their dorm from CoS (where they obviously hadn't changed first). (I'm just trying to work out why they didn't go with robes or the AC jumpers.)

Thanks, you two. Ridiculously pleased with the pink star.

Don't forget Batwoman. Minifigs... So out of curiosity, I had a poke around the list of HP Funko Pop figures. I assume the markets are different because the release of Funko Pops doesn't correspond to a scene so much as an outfit, and I'm exceedingly happy with a different facial expression on a minifig to have more range, but it's interesting to see characters like Rita, Karkaroff, the Bloody Baron, Fang, various Patronuses (including Snape's doe) and the Grindylow on the list of 135 figures when we haven't seen them in an an even larger sized run (191 lego minifigs since 2018). Pomfrey and Narcissa Malfoy were thus far absent from both. (So pleased we're finally seeing the Matron.)

Laughs in affordable healthcare? I mean, it's either that or ask Harry to fetch his wand... My apologies to our antipodeans and assorted Americans, I really should have mentioned promobricks' info on the price changes was for Europe. (Sometimes the "Euro" in "eurobricks" leads me to forget to couch things more robustly.) I've honestly no clue what they're doing on your end, that said, the international shipping issues and repeated warnings about all kinds of things' unavailability come Christmas would make me cautious about planning purchases elsewhere as well. (Personally, I'm particularly worried about a price increase on the DA set I've yet to get... )
-
Even more bad news, Promobricks had reported prices as a whole were expected to increase in 2022, including on existing sets. The Clock Tower was mentioned specifically as going from 90€ to 100€.

You're right of course, and there go my hopes, crushed! (Unless there's an alternative build for it? *wink*) I was just looking at some things on ebay that included listings for the 'complete' set of six golden figs, as well as picture frames third party vendors were selling for the figs and thinking how that's changed, too. Lego themselves obviously have the advantage of knowing what they're doing well before the sets are released, so if it doesn't fit... Edit: Symmetry isn't always as straightforward as one might expect. One of the cuter frames for the original six figs actually incorporated the golden owl from the lectern and had a 1-0-1, over 5 format, with the logo in the '0's place and the ersatz-Hedwig in the centre of the lower row. Unexpected, but visually appealing.

Good point, and that thought provides some relief. I really want to see Fang, Snape's doe Patronus, and in a perfect world, that scene with Harry, Draco, Fang, Voldemort, the dead unicorn (I know, unlikely, but there's been 'worse') and they could give us Firenze there, too. Speaking of whom, I believe that's a teacher with a speaking role we haven't seen yet as a minifig. I'd also like to eventually see Thestrals in a HP (and not FB) set; I'm still lobbying for the carriage scene in Hogsmeade. I know it isn't probable, but we still haven't seen Draco as a golden minifig for the 20th anniversary, and I find it really hard to believe we had Quirrell but no Draco. Maybe that improves the chances this could still be a last set to wrap up the 20th anniversary celebration and give us the 'missing' golden fig? Fluffy

Thanks, @Stuartn and @Peppermint_M, for answering. Oddly clicking on the time link only worked some of the time ??? (and yet I checked it against the URL you're sent in the notifications that definitely works (but that you logically don't usually have) and am not seeing a difference in format). Often as not it was taking me to the top of the page. Odder yet, the share link the icon offers has a different format. excerpt from the time link: 149997-help/&page=46&tab=comments#comment-3451439; mixed results from the notification: 149997-help/&page=46&tab=comments#comment-3451439; always works looks the same to me. from the share icon: 149997-help/&do=findComment&comment=3451439; seems to work Eh. Mine is not to reason why... Again, appreciate the help.

Thanks! I thought I'd seen it mentioned somewhere, but couldn't recall the source of that bit of info and couldn't find it again either, which left me unsure. I'd love to see a Bell Towers that allows us to recreate that scene with Buckbeak. I don't really have a scene that I associate with them except something like micmac's BoH MOC, but I also don't have an architectural sense of where the Tower Sirius is held in belongs, so this would be the perfect meeting of issues: a tower without a purpose, a scene without a home... And then they could include Fang with a Forbidden Forest set, or Hagrid's Hut. (The latter is sadly more likely. Pity as the former would be a day one purchase for me.) @drewdotexe you might want to check the ebay prices of things like the accessory packs or the exclusive / rare sets. Any set that typically goes for at least as much on ebay as it does at the S@H will help you meet the GWP threshold, if you're willing to faff about with the selling and posting that is. @Legoman123 I think "market saturation" and "diminishing returns" help explain it. If you look at the older runs of HP, the series always reinvented itself in short intervals to find new purchasers, and tbf, the less well known sets are almost definitely a more difficult sell than the obvious ones. Does a child say: I want that set I know, or that building I can't even name? The Great Hall (and Clock Tower), Hagrid's Hut, the Knight Bus, the Ford Anglia, the Express, Quidditch, these are things they make over and over again and in 20 years they've never completed the castle in favour of re-treading the same material. Even the nanoscale version requires you to look at fan MOCs for plans to complete the build. Evidently those known elements are the more profitable approach.
