    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Wow, these are trash! I doubt the lavender figure is complete though. I'm sure it will look better when LEGO adds a skirt and bow. I really wish her dress was printed though. If it was a cost cutting measure then they should've printed Lavender's dress and given Luna the awkward paper dress since her costume is meant to be strange. If this is the complete lavender figure though I will be quite disappointed. Ron definitely is trash though. If they couldn't afford to give him dual mounded arms they shouldn't have bothered attempting to make the T-Shirt. Either repeat the sweater variant from the burrow (Not sure if he wore that at Hogwarts but at least it would be a costume he wore in the film unlike the long sleeve thing LEGO has given him) or give just him Hogwarts robes. Plus they could've used the budget from the new print elsewhere. I was sure that LEGO would only make 1 variant of Ron in this shirt, either with or without a sweater but I certainly hope I was wrong. I'll be very disappointed if this inaccurate figure is also included in the Burrow.

in his post about the ministry set he mentions its "Not a leak just my expectation a few months ago (we don't get everything, but still happy)" His original prediction about the burrow is wrong we're getting Ron instead of Remus. So it seems like some of what he said there is accurate and some of it isn't. I certainly hope his list of DA figures is wrong (or incomplete) because only getting those 13 would be a bit of a let down. I could believe a ministry set was happening if the burrow was releasing in August. That way we would have a 5 set wave in June and 2 sets in August. It seems like the burrow is coming in June though so perhaps it was pushed forward after the ministry set was cancelled. Also Tonks has been confirmed already. edit: Also where are you getting Crab and Goyle from? His minifigure series prediction list says that we're getting Ron and Hermionie.

B&B was probably included here because they didn't plan on making it its own separate set but honestly why not? If they can sell a $50 Beauxbatons carriage I'm sure they could sell a $70-80 B&B or basically anything that appeared in the movies. Even if we had to wait another year or two would anyone have been mad? Was B&B in anyone's list of most wanted sets? I assumed it would be included but it's still a bit disappointing to have that confirmed.

Don't count on it. The flitwick figure in the 2019 calendar had a costume he didn't wear in the christmas scene or even the movie and the faceprint/hair was completely in accurate to the scene and movie. I wouldn't be surprised if LEGO went with the more iconic costume from the end of the movie that has been used on most merchandise (NECA, Star Ace, Eaglemoss, ect.) Sirius from OOTP. Then again LEGO may save that variant for an inevitable Ministry duel set or a CMF figure. It's hard to know since LEGO seems to make the calendars only loosely based on certain scenes.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I checked in after a few hours, saw a large number of new posts and assumed we must've gotten some new leaks or even set pictures. I got really excited only to discover it's more hints about Diagon alley. I was originally against the idea of it being an upscaled GWP until realizing that the buildings could share walls so LEGO could give us more building than we would get otherwise. It's nice that they're separate though since that lets us move them around to our liking. I don't care that B&B is included as long as it doesn't take up too much of the budget and has a small alleyway build with a sign leading to it so it's a bit less random. Honestly I think the hint about the advent calendar is far more interesting than the Diagon alley stuff. It doesn't make up for OOTP having only having 2 small sets in the wave that is supposed to be our main representation for years 5/6 but it's better than nothing. I skipped reading the fifth book when I went to reread the series a few weeks ago (I'm just not a fan of the book, love the movie though) and I kind of regret that now that we can speculate about the contents of the advent calendar. I understand the idea of it being the ROR as it would give us some nice figures and patronuses but there really wouldn't be much to include for builds past the fireplace, the notice board, some pillows, and a training dummy. Plus we're already getting a ROR set. It's almost certainly going to be grimmauld place as it would give LEGO a good excuse to avoid making a proper set of it for the foreseeable future and has many options for small builds, new minifigures (OOTP Sirius, OOTP Tonks, maybe casual OOTP Ron), and rereleases (Harry and Hermionie from GINFF, and probably some characters from the burrow).

I'll be honest here, I've never ordered anything from LEGO before. I know you can get VIP points from doing surveys and buying sets. I'm probably just missing something but I can't figure out how many VIP points you get per set.

I've had $320 set aside for the June minifigure scale sets for a few months now. Now that everything is online I'm not sure where to buy these from. Last year I bought everything from B&N (which gave me a 10% discount) but this year I'm not sure. Will these be available at all the usual retailers or just the LEGO store?

12 Grimmauld Place is probably the third most important HP house since it appeared in multiple books. It would be challenging to do in LEGO though.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

First of all everyone should bow down before me and my divination skills. I will continue to use my ability to see patterns in things that aren't there to predict that Harry Potter will appear in more than 3 sets next year (the pattern here being that Harry appears in more sets than Dobby, a trend which I believe will continue). I also predict that in 2028 LEGO will release a D2C Basilisk expansion pack for $400. It will contain 700 basilisk mid sections (identical to the 4 pice assemblies seen in the Great Hall set) and it will also contain 120 robed year1/2 Ron Weasley figures (great for army building) plus an exclusive variant of Ron, now featuring some printing of dust on his robes from the scene where he enters the Chamber of Secrets giving us a total of 121 minifigures (great for minifigure collectors). Ginny being included means that every Harry Potter Puppet Pals Character is now available in the rebooted line. A glorious achievement and one of the primary shortcomings of the first decade of the theme. Also I'll repeat what I said earlier. Ron wears his Green shirt and brown sweater combo in the Burrow scene and LEGO probably won't make both sweater on and sweater off versions of the character. I'm guessing it will be the version wearing the sweater because if LEGO can't afford to print a dress for Bellatrix I doubt they can afford to give Ron dual mounded arms in 2 sets (or maybe Ron is where all the budget for these two sets went). At that point we have to decide between either getting sweater Ron in both sets or sweater Ron in one and robed Ron in the other. I wish LEGO would release the pictures so I could stop thinking about Ron's ugly green and brown T-shirt.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Here's an impromptu list of all the minifigure sets from most to least recommended. I'll be taking into account the importance of the characters, the importance of the location/vehicle, the price, the quality of the figures, and the quality of the build itself. I'll include my reasoning for some (but not all) sets. "These are essential": The Great Hall (not perfect but it's the flagship set), and Hogwarts Express (flawless other than 2 figures), "You should probably also get these": The Rise of Voldemort (inexpensive, great exclusive figures, pretty important scene, but probably not the most interesting set), Hogwarts Clock Tower, and Hagrid's Hut: Buckbeak's Rescue (this would be essential if it was a bit cheaper), "Definitely consider these ": Quidditch Match (really good value), The Kinght Bus, and Aragog's Lair. "You'll be content without these": Expecto Patronum (if you want a Serious Black figure and some extra dementors then definitely get this but the set itself is just some trees at the end of the day), Horntail Triwizard Challenge (if you like the dragon build then get the set, if you don't then you wont miss much if you pass on this), and Hogwarts Whomping Willow (the car will be available in another set and the castle is the least essential castle section) "they're not bad but you really don't need these": Advent Calendar (its a great advent calendar but it's still an advent calendar), and Beauxbatons Carriage: Arrival at Hogwarts (it's nice but it's also a $50 Beauxbatons Carriage set). These are just my opinions. Honestly you really can't go wrong with any Hp set except for maybe those last two and even those are still great. I would still wait until the 2020 sets get revealed though before buying any of the older ones just in case.

https://imgur.com/57YXo1p Getting a bit off topic but here's a photo I took awhile back with every minifigure scale Great Hall. The 2018 one definitely has the best details but I think I prefer the 2010's overall shape.

I'm certain we will get another Ron in the burrow. Every year we have had an equal number of Ron and Hermione figures. This is how we ended up with the rather pointless figure of Hermionie in the advent calendar (especially pointless now that we're getting a third different griffindor wearing robes and scarf print).

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I think the Ron in this set would be a good opportunity to make a Ron that would compliment the other members of the trio. We're only getting 4 sets based off of OOTP/HBP and the trio don't have matching outfits for 2 of those (Ron doesn't attend the Slug Club and Hermionie isn't there for the burrow burning (unless I've forgotten, it's been awhile since I last watched the movie)). This means we need a Ron to compliment the Hogwarts Robes figures (ROR) or the OOTP climax figures (GITFF). Throwing in a Ron from the OOTP climax wouldn't make sense but a robed Ron would since he wore his Hogwarts uniform at Hogwarts. Most importantly the striped green T-shirt with brown collar appears under his brown and green striped sweater in the burrow burning scene. I really doubt LEGO will go through the effort of giving us both sweater wearing and sweater less versions (we didn't get variants of Harry's blue jacket costume in wave 1). I'm almost certain we will only get 1 print for that HBP shirt. LEGO will choose one or the other. So we will either get Ron wearing his green t-shirt in both sets, wearing it under the sweater in both sets, or Hogwarts robes in one set and the shirt/sweater costume in another set. Personally I prefer the latter.

    When Should Ninjago End?

Ninjago has basically become a catch all for every unlicensed LEGO idea. Unless LEGO has something very specific in mind (like teens with tech catching ghosts in a modern day setting) LEGO just makes ninjago do it. A good rule of thumb is that if an idea can be summarized in 1 or 2 words then it just becomes ninjago. Mechs, Castles, Pirates, Snakes, cyberpunk. "Why make many theme when one theme do trick?". Give it a few more years and a ninjago collection with a few sets from each of the different eras will look more random than Time Cruisers. Ninjago consuming everything has become especially prevalent in the last few years now that Castle (2014), Chima (2015), Ultra Agents (2015), Pirates (2015), and Nexo Knights (2018) are dead. Ninjago, Hidden Side, and the upcoming Monkey King are the only Action/Adventure themes we have. Ninjago has also set an unmatchable standard for the popularity of new themes. It seems like every theme is expected to be the next Ninjago, most notably Chima and Nexo Knights. Even something like Hidden Side probably only would've lasted only 1 or 2 years before Ninjago but it seems like LEGO intends for the theme to continue indefinitely. Ninjago will continue as long as kids still are interested in the core characters. The only themes as consistent and long-running as ninjago that are still surging are Star Wars and city. City will forever resonate with kids as it's the world around them and they make up the characters themselves. Star Wars had proven that it could be handed down generations before it even became a LEGO theme, plus Star Wars has the benefit of having three groups of characters (from each of the trilogies) so it isn't literally all of the same characters every wave. How long can the ninjago characters last? Are they strong enough to be passed down generations? They were after all only designed to sustain a three year toy line and cartoon and I personally am not confident that they can survive as many decades as the Star Wars characters. How long can ninjas be cool? Pirates and castle were thought to be eternal but even those themes have proven that they can't last forever, even when taking breaks every few years unlike ninjago.

I love collections like this. I don't see these sets too often. So many AFOL collections are honestly boring. UCS Star Wars sets, playscale Millennium Falcons (usually more than 1 if any), microscale Hogwarts, disney castle, large car sets, NASA sets, and of course the eternal modular buildings. All lovely sets but it gets a bit boring after awhile. I suppose it makes you appreciate more unique collections like this though.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I Actually I got out of my dark ages in mid 2018 with the HP reboot. The 2019 millennium falcon is just the first Star Wars set (or any non wizarding World set) I've bought since. Actually I think I did get a small non-wizarding world set in 2018 to apply for the bricktober promotion which (of course) was announced after I bought the HP sets (except for the $400 castle) and forced me to buy the FB sets and something else i can't remember in order to get the bricktober figures. I (or more accurately my brother) did have a number of Indiana Jones sets as a kid (Fighter Plane Attack, Ambush in Cairo, the Lost Tomb, Temple Of Doom, Venice Canal Chase) but I'll probably avoid rebuilding those as I'm looking for stuff to sell at the moment to afford Diagon Alley (or just life in general if my work gets affected by covid this summer) and I don't want to risk future me selling those. I've already decided to part with at least one of the two loose copies of the Shadow ARF trooper polybag I won at a LEGO event as a kid and some Minecraft sets I acquired off a friend who lost interest in LEGO a bit later than me for $100 (also included in that deal was Endor Village, the Simpsons House, and a few otter things including the 2010 Lastrange dress slope which will be useful soon. LEGO deal of the century tbh). Anyone else sacrificing old LEGO sets to the Alley?

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I'm probably most excited about the burrow set aswell. It was the first LEGO Hare Otter set I ever played with as a kid. Me and my brother had just learned of the franchise and watched a few of the movies. We then went to a LEGO store about a week later and discovered that they made LEGO sets for it (I'm pretty sure it was the week the 2010 sets were released). My brother bought the Burrow and I bought the 2010 Swamp Speeder from the Star Wars line, which ended up being the last SW set I bought for a decade (all the way through my LEGO dark ages) until a week ago when I bought the millennium falcon. Not only am I hyped for sentimental reasons but the burrow was one of the two childhood sets I was working on rebuilding a few months ago before I had to put all of my misc LEGO bins into storage for a move, and I was really struggling to find all of the dark red pieces for the roof. Actually the other set I was working on finding parts for was Diagon Alley so it seems like LEGO is rereleasing things that I struggle to rebuild. Maybe I should start trying to rebuild my kingdoms sets so that theme can get rereleased.

One of my favorite parts of the HP reboot is the bootlegs and their poorly translated captions. I'll sHare my favorite one here. Can we think of any Otter "very funny" captions for any existing or upcoming sets or is this something only bootlegging professionals can do?

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I think we should make a rule that all posts must include an otter pun until we have something properly new to discuss. It might make some people want to pull their hare out but if they've got a problem with it they can go to an -otter forum.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I'm hoping the Diagon Alley set will include Gringotts bank larger than the 2011 version. WWW, Ollivanders, and the Leaky Cauldron (with a side build for the brick section) around the size of the 2011 buildings (with WWW maybe being a bit bigger). 1-3 small stores like the ones in the book they released last year (see picture), and a small archway section that would be the same size as one of the small buildings (this would lead to a potential Borgin and Burke's set if that ever got released. Maybe throw in the dragon to sit on top of Gringotts. I know people have said that the dragon would need to fit 3 figures and therefore be bigger than the dragon from the first challenge but I'm not sure it would have to be. LEGO has never been great about scale and the number of figures that should fit on/in something (the flying car only fits half of the figures it should).

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

So far I've managed to get everything from the line except the brick heads, microscale stuff, FB blind bags, and the book that came with a sorting hat set. Mainly down to budget that I've avoided those. I've got the money for the June sets but I'm not sure how I'll be getting them with the virus closing the usual shop I go to for LEGO.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

If this was the case then we wouldn't be getting the line with most sets from the same era every year and instead we would've gotten something closer to the 2010/2011 line. They were still based on specific scenes from specific movies. The whomping willow destroying the flying car only happened in the second film, Harry and Ron only went to Aragog's lair in the second film, Hermionie only set snape on fire in the first film ect. I did read a completely different conversation because this one forum isn't the only place where rumors are discussed. If no one at all believed these rumors, far fewer people would be spreading them and making them.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I think the reason people are so keen to believe rumors about a ministry set is that it's completely baffling that LEGO is only producing $50 worth of OOTP sets. For context SS/PS had $140, COS had $85, POA had $200, and GOF had $190. The 2020 sets we have will give us $50 worth of OOTP sets, $200 for HBP, and an additional $70 for COS. Clearly LEGO thought $85 worth of sets wasn't enough representation for COS and they needed to release another set before waiting for the 2 movie waves to end, but if they thought $85 was too little then why are we only getting $50 for OOTP? Personally I'm guessing that the sets we know are releasing are the only sets releasing (except for maybe a GWP) but it's understandable why people are desperate to believe the rumors we know are false.
