Latest impact of other themes on historic themes
Poco Lypso replied to Wardancer's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
oof, there is a chance they are gonna make it yellow? lol i have skipped the creator castle because it came with too much yellow for my taste (albeit a decision I regret a bit as the discounted prices has gone up in the meantime) -

Brickwest Studio: who wants this Wild West set?
Poco Lypso replied to sebitsena's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I am mainly in it for the minifigs, a bare-bones set with no 'protagonists' is as boring as it gets to me. I am also not much of a display person and buy larger sets very rarely. Bought the medieval blacksmith this year though - first large set in 4 years.- 6 replies

I was actually talking about japanese anime shows which have either historic contexts or a medieval setting. Shows like attack on titan are quite popular these days, altho I doubt lego would pick that one up.. loll
-
there is lots of popular anime with a historic setting of some sort. but thats a territory lego hasn't touched yet... and prolly never will
-
Thats pretty amazing! Love those trees!!! How many of those bright green plant pieces have you used?
-
I haven't bought the set yet, even tho I can get it 20% off. Ordered 13 sheep and some more black falcon torsos this month :). But I will eventually (prolly for christmas), the castle seems like an alright parts pack and might be the last castle set we will see in a long time. I was lowkey hoping for a Zelda collab but seems super mario is all they had planned, welp...

The pirate torso in the castle set is just lazy and lackluster.

Why does Playmobil still have Historic themes, but not LEGO?
Poco Lypso replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
the times have changed and lego is fully aware of that. hopefully lego will pick up more movies with a historic settings xD classic lego theme are prolly incompatible with the mainstream market nowadays but lego should still cater to fans. They could produce sets/figs specifically aimed at adult historians and sell them online, far away from the shops. they could for example create different kinds of historic armies and sell battle packs and stuff. same goes for civilians, just produce enough packs and keep them available for a few years and add a few new ones each year. -
Why does Playmobil still have Historic themes, but not LEGO?
Poco Lypso replied to Lego David's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Only playmobil and lego know why - maybe they just split the market. Lego took the mech-ninja theme and playmobil historic stuff :) While I don't have much hope for more historic sets in the near future, I hope lego will cater to us and produce more mini-figs from time to time. -
Tbh, I am checking the b&p site almost every day and while I would definitely like to purchase a few I am quite pleased they are sold out ALL THE TIME. Maybe this will give lego a hint on how popular a classic theme can be.

I'm quite impressed with the castle! Will buy at least one set and depending on parts value and a potential bargain price maybe a 2nd. The civilian minifig is more of a disappointment to me. So far I have avoided buying sets with yellow bricks (prefer tan colors) but to my surprise I like what I see.
-
But bricklink is part of the lego group now iirc.
-
The minifigs in the 2019 castle were just plain (and) boring. They might allow fo some black falcons but that wouldn't be any incentive for me to buy the set at this point.
-
Nice - wonder if we will see a return if the forest men.
-
Im not saying its a new trend - on the contrary. Just to clarify: this is a lighthearted discussion for me. While I would greatly appreciate any new castle theme with tons of civilians in it - the lack of it doesnt change too much for me. There has been quite a number of suitable minifigs coming out in the last couple of years that I even missed some of them :). In fact I dont mind having sets/figs released at a slower pace. This year I am already spending way beyond my lego budget - thanks to the black falcons. With a potentially useful 3in1 creator castle coming up I honestly hope there wont be too much more this year.

Nobody ever argued vehicle based sets can't have location-sets. I didnt really study my way into the topic, but even for me its obvious there is a tendency towards vehicle-based themes. Not really sure if we should even call them this way but unless its licensed theme, like harry potter or minecraft (both original IPs arent vehicle based or focused on vehicles) there is a high likelihood the next lego original IP big bang theme will be vehicle based and follow the same patterns, mecha, bike, airjet etc. On the other hand, lego has increased their revenue last year. That means they knew exactly what the trends are and were able to capitalize on the opportunity. And there is a high likelihood their sales wouldnt have been that great if they had just stuck with castle and pirates for all those years :)
-
tbh - i think you are doing exacly what you are accusing the other side of, lol I i just went to lego shop monkie kid yes, they have that location based island set and it is followed by about 9 - 10 vehicle/mecha based sets
-
so location-based sets prove what exactly?
-
i dont really see the point here. to make a point you should have just used the same themes @Lego David used. I mean why not even include lego architecture
-
lol - this post made smile :)
-
they are usually associated with wheels and engines

the kids market is pretty crowded. you have ninjago and other kids themes. making another kiddie castle theme doesnt mean kids will abandon ninjago. but maybe you will attract those kids who arent into ninjago but wouldnt mind some cool looking knights and peasants.
