Considering that the vast majority of trains that LEGO releases are 6w, having a train like this (that really benefits from an increased level of detail) released as 8w would be nice. As long as they don’t do something stupid like they did with the oversized Hogwarts Express.

Thanks for the detailed pics, really appreciate it. One follow up question... how are you anchoring the motors? I'm not seeing any pins above or below. Are they just loose fit in their spaces?

If you are able to provide more detail, that would be awesome. Completely understand if it's too much trouble. I'm pretty sure that could be adapted to support the PU motors fairly easily. Cheers!

Apologies for necroing this thread. I would have messaged @Roadmonkeytj directly, but it seem that I'm not allowed to send messages yet. I'm very interested in doing something similar with my EN, only using a PU Large motor instead. By any chance, do you have a parts list/diagram or a stud.io file that shows the mods you made to the interior of the boiler? I'm struggling to piece it together from your pics. Great job, btw!

BuWizz - High Performance LEGO Power Functions Controller and Battery
Fingolfin replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
@Zerobricks With the Buwizz 3.0, is it possible to do something similar to center steering with a PF motor, or is that only with the PU motors? My current setup calls for a PF medium motor to control steering, and I can't find a way to manage it like a steering servo. I'd like to avoid having to swap out for a PU motor. Thanks! -

After about 5 months of work (off and on), I've finally finished my modified C.K. Holliday train (Lego 71044). During high school and college in the 90s, I was a conductor on the DLRR, so this set hits close to home and is something I've wanted for a long, long time. It also means I was keenly aware of where the stock model wasn't quite accurate. This was my first time modifying a Lego set, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.The engine was pretty heavily reworked, and I made some changes to the parlor car as well. Approximate mod list includes: Changed boiler jacket to dark blue, inspired by @TJJohn12. Lengthened the engine by two studs. Increased engine width at pistons to 9 studs. Reworked the pilot to use a double-pin system similar to the Constitution. Reworked pistons inspired by @Carefree_Dude. Drive rods by @zephyr1934. Redesigned cab interior. Parlor car extended by 4 studs, additional chair inside. Replaced stock wheels with ball bearings and rods. Custom stickers by OKBrickWorks What do y'all think?

Thanks @Murdoch17 & @Pdaitabird! That’s exactly what makes this community so great. Much appreciated!

Hey Murdoch, do you have an LDD (or similar) file for your cars? I'd like to add the baggage car, wagon and caboose to my old west train. Thanks!

Very cool! Oddly enough, I'm planning out how to do something similar right now. However, my office is much smaller and I've got to accommodate a closet on one wall, so I'm on the hunt for good ideas. Do you happen to have a top down view or diagram of your track layout? Cheers

If I may ask, how did you go about mounting the sensor? Were you able to hide it?

Improving the 71044 Disney Train (WIP and Idea thread)
Fingolfin replied to Carefree_Dude's topic in LEGO Train Tech
@TJJohn12 - The changes look fantastic! Sorry for the necro... could you point me in the direction of where you got the retro stickers? I think I need the lamp art and Retlaw boiler stamps. Thanks! -
@legoman666 - Sorry for the necro here... any chance you have, or can create, a sticker sheet for the EP Ripley version? Thanks!
