    8043 Monster Mod

Very nice changes!! I have also completely overhauled my model and i will post a thread soon. Very nice work . Ohh as another challenge, you should built a working jackhammer. tim
  11. Hello, I got my 8043 in the mail the other day and i was super excited . I built the excavator while "doing summer homework" haha, but it was mostly building. After building the set, I decided that it needed some modifications. For the body, I filled in the holes, and made it look more realistic. Next, for the functions, i changed the placement of the bracket that connects the boom to the LA's. That way the boom can actually dig below grade. Another change was in the swing of the arm. The arm extended farther out than necessary so i changed the attachment of the LA bracket so that the arm comes closer to the body of the excavator. Also, i modified the last part of the arm so that the bucket has a better range of movement and also the ability to interchange attachments easier. Finally, i build a few attachments ; including a ripper attachment, a compacter attachment, and a regular bucket. More can be seen in my brickshelf gallery Hope you like it! tim
  12. Wow those trucks are works of art!! Very impressive. tim
  13. Sounds great! Y will have to post some pictures when your done. Tim
  14. Sounds great, I can't wait to see some photos! Tim
  15. You should try building some attachments for your excavator (e.g. custom bucket, drilling hammer, compacter)! tim
  16. Do you have the parts to build attachments similar to mine? if you do they are very fun to play with! tim
  17. I will definitely recommend the 8043 excavator! If you are looking for a high playability, completely remote controlled model, the excavator is perfect. I recently got the set my self and if you are new to technic, it definitely has enough motors and gears and linear actuators to help build your own creations. Also, if you chose to modify the excavator ( see topics: 1 and 2 ) , the playability increases even more. tim
  18. Okay sounds good, upload photos if you build anything
  19. that's a perfect idea!!!! Maybe it can run over some technic figures? tim
  20. haha very nice, why don't you try the mod yourself and upload some photos? I would love to see if you could get it to work. tim
  21. I was thinking about adding a murder saw to my 8043 as a attachment . tim
  22. Hmmmm that is pretty cheap. maybe i will search around and see if i can find it cheaper. Do you have the set? tim
  23. Unfortunately i do not have a micro motor nor do i have $30 to spend on buying one . I have also looked at mounting a pf medium in the arm and i don't think there is any room there either. tim
  24. Ya that is a great idea and i was actually thinking of doing that. i have actually made a tilting bucket before for a previous excavator but it was pneumatic. A problem i could for-see is that if a attachment needs power, there really isn't a way to add another U joint into the arm and run axles from the excavator body because there just inst enough room. tim
