  1. I have downloaded Mircosoft access 2003 from the link on front page and downloaded and unzipped LDD manager and placed the folder in my documents, when I click on StartLDDManager a box comes up with the following message "Please wait while Windows configures Mircosoft Office Access Runtime 2003" then a bar goes across below and then nothing happens?

Any advice on what to do. I am using Windows XP.

  2. Some news from the Ambassador forum regarding the CMF Boxes via Kim Thomsen.

The reason for the new split is that we are introducing a smaller box with only 30 bags – and 3 is such a troublesome amount to split in half.

So now (soon) you can buy a box and get a whole set plus 14 instead of buying a box of 60.

So what that means is instead of a box of 60, there will be boxes of 30 with one full set and 14 spares. Please share your views on this as no doubt it will ruffle a few feathers and also please others.

  3. I love your city. There is so much detail. The HQ is great and fits in perfectly with the beach area. The cafe is my favorite. Can't wait uintil the next update.

Thanks, I try and make everything come together :-)

That coast guard structure fit so well in your layout......but you need a surf store and perhaps a boating/fishing store too......Oh, now that gives me ideas !

Keep going and Brick On 'Bricksan' ! :sweet:

Glad I got your creative juices flowing, I would like to add more but it would mean expanding outwards and there is no room, I can add depth to the layout but not width at the moment but if I can those will be on the list to build.

Oh my god!! I am floored by this! It's downright incredible. I don't even know where to start. The coastguard HQ looks stunning, is there an interior? The way you extended the marina is great I love the double doors and the added door in the back. Creating a set of stairs to make the cafe actually accessible (to minifigs at least) is a great idea and very well done. I love the towels, shower, and sand castles on the beach. Extending the marina to the pavement looks phenomenal!! The addition of a rental space for jet skis and whatnot is very creative. Honestly I thought you were crazy and wasting time and bricks (and money) doing the 1x1 rounds on the water, but the effect seems well worth the effort! I think that small (large?) detail is my favorite part. Absolutely stunning, I can't wait to see what else is to come. WOW! Just wow.

Thanks you can see the inside of the CoastguardHQ here --> http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=75209

As for the 1x1 plain baseplates looked boring so wanted to go a bit OTT with the detail, I think the little things bring everything together :-)

  4. Right been a while since my last update but that was due to me building the CoastguardHQ, here is a run down on what has happened since:

The original plan is complete, the beach complete with beach towels, sandcastles, outdoor shower and changing rooms is complete. I even add the beach party set. The extended marina is done complete with updated Paradise cafe building, surf shack and steps to the street.

Next to the cafe is the launch area for boats, they come past the security building and onto the ramp to launch their boats and this is then next to the bran new coastguard HQ, in the photos you can see the side view of the building and how it all comes together. As you move out to sea you will see a small rock formation and old lighthouse, inside the lighthouse I have add a door, flooring and a bed, however the lighthouse is no longer in use as the new CoastguardHQ has a lighthouse built into the roof. I still need to finish the sea detail on two blue baseplates.

Moving to the beach I have add the minifigs complete with sun bathers, a family with minifig baby and also people hiring surfboards from the surf shack. you can also sea jetskies in the marina and someone taking a speedboat out. The Police officer is buying a snack from the street vendor opposite the security building. Outside the coastguardHQ is a fuel pump for the boats to use. Only the marina side of the street is complete, opposite the road you can see the paving taking shape, street lights are up as are the traffic light crossroads. The paving outside the Emporium has been extended.

The next plan is to finish the trees going down the middle of the high street and also add Cafe Corner to the section opposite the Emporium. While it will be Cafe Corner, it will have full interior and also a few more major modifications. After that is complete the building next to it will start to go into the design phase, what that will be is secret for now.

Feel free to ask questions about anything I have done so far or have planned for the future, so far not including the CMF sets over 15 different LEGO sets have been used in the building of the City and more will be added all the time, I have also used stickers from various others as well, using Bricklink to get them as I feel official stickers finish certain parts off, my next update will be once Cafe Corner is built.

  5. Like holodoc said above, I really prefer to stay away from bright colors on my modular street (I almost screamed when the rumor was going around that the Palace Cinema was yellow), but this works extremely well. It is actually tempting me to try something in orange. I also really like the double garage. Makes me wish the FB was double. This is really good - nice job!

Thanks, I am glad I kept with the colour scheme. If you use the colours the right way the end result is really effective. For the double garage it took a few attempts on LDD to get the right look but still keeping with the overall style of the fire station. I will post some images of how the side looks when I update my City Project topic later.

  6. I like it becuase it make both of them! The brick effect is clever and I really appreciate the corniche and the blacony too. Adding 2012 is also a great touch. The interior seems to work well! I'm just having some trouble with your door on the roof...

    Well done.

    In what way?

I had thought about altering it and having it upright but could not get it to look right but ideas welcomed to improve it

  7. Excellent take on the modular fire station and flipping it into a coast guard base.....different and kind of funky in those colours.....I like it ! :grin_wub:

    Brick On 'Bricksan' !

Thanks pal, the reason for the colour scheme is they are the same as those used in the 2008 Coastguard sub-theme

  8. My last update for my City layout project was way back in July, however this is not due to me doing nothing but the exact opposite. I have spent the past few months building the Coastguard HQ building, I have not shown any progress as wanted to wait till it was complete until I revealed it. The building is based on the Fire Station Modular Building.

To start with the building has the same colour scheme from the 2008 Coastguard City sub theme, this made the building very interesting when building it as not everything comes in orange. Also the building is built across two baseplates a blue 32×32 one and a road one that is used in most large City buildings like the recent police station. This meant a building challenge in getting the look right and also fitting it on to the base plates.

I built the building first on LDD and I rebuilt it a few times until I was happy with it, the original plan was to have to buildings back to back and connect but I decided to build one large building. The building is double the depth of normal modulars but they will still sit next to the building at the road side leaving a 32×16 gap at the back. So if I extend outwards I can add more dockside behind the other buildings.

  9. Kevin Hinkle the North America Community Coordinator has posted an announcement via the Ambassador site about the discontinuation of Grab Bags in Brand stores not just in North America but globally.

    Hello and good evening folks,

I wanted to take a moment to address some of the rumors going around and provide a bit of clarity. This decision was not taken lightly, however, due to a continued focus on LEGO quality standards, as well as increasing toy industry legislation, we can no longer sell grab bags in our LEGO brand retail stores. We understand that this decision may not be warmly embraced by some members of the LEGO fan community, please understand that we are constantly re-evaluating our product assortment and are dedicated to providing the best quality of products as possible for all our consumers. This change will affect all LEGO brand retail stores globally.

We are currently exploring various opportunities with the brand retail team to address excess LEGO elements collected at the store level. We believe the elements can be put to great use as another form of fan community support. Although I don’t have any specific details to share at this time, we appreciate your patience as the LEGO community team continues to work with the appropriate parties during this transition to form a new solution.
