Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Bugbot20082 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I’m also not expecting a GP set any time soon, if Kreacher gets a CMF spot all the other figures are/will be likely available in other sets. Why not embrace the chance to MOC your own? Malfoy Manor by contrast is more likely to get made: the exterior has a more interesting silhouette and it features an action scene with added potential for play features (falling chandelier, prison cell etc), and potential for more diverse/hard to find figures. -

This is a good call! I had in my own list a generic masked death eater to fill in the ‘true villain’ spot but this variation of Bellatrix is a better choice for the CMF. It would also easily open the door to a new version of her hair (if Lego wanted/needed to). -
Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Like others have said I think the CMF series is best used for characters which don’t fit in a likely future set naturally (e.g. James and Lilly Potter, Nicholas Flamel, Rita Skeeter etc), and figures which require new moulds which may be a one-off use (e.g. Professor Sprout, Werewolf Lupin, Lee Jordon, Madam Pomfrey, Keecher). Fred and George don’t need new moulds and we could easily end up with three variations in predictable future sets: the Burrow (home clothes), castle section with the DA room (school jumper), and WWW (shop outfit) etc. Cat-Hermione fits the bill for a CMF spot (new hair/ear combo) but the other two polyjuice figures would be better served populating a bathroom/Slytherin common room castle section set. Previously I had suggested HBP versions of Ron (quidditch keeper) and Harry (with HBP potions book) as CMF options -

I can see that possibly happening in the further future, such as a Harry Potter CMF series 3. It could be dual moulded with trans red to get the gem detail :) I would include it with a ‘Deathly Hallows part 1’ version of Ron, along with the deluminator (Lego friends pen recoloured). -

Your set list is very good, includes some very similar choices to my own list (see below). I like the idea of having Lake-Task figures etc in with the ship as it makes sense budget wise. My list for the first 4 sets for this year are as follows: Smallest set <£20: Voldemort & Dumbledore’s duel at the fountain in the ministry of magic. Only 3 figures, one of which is a statue (no Harry). A side build is a large fire snake. Medium set £30-£50 Battle at the archway in the department of Mysteries. 5-6 minifigures including exclusive variations of Lucius and Sirius. Large set £50-£80 The Burrow. Lots of the Weasley family. This could also be a Harry-free set. Flagship set £90+ Most predictions are the Astronomy Tower so I’ll go for something different: Castle section (Bell towers of the Long Gallery) with interior based on OotP like this concept I made: Then later in the year I would hope for these two same as your list: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes £60 Durmstrang Ship/ Lake Task £80 -

Thank you very much :) If you are interested to see more of my concepts for the rest of the castle I have described them all in detail in a separate thread -

I hope they keep the new style consistent so it would be a castle section which connects to the existing modules. This is my personal concept as an example, the building is the rear corner of the Astronomy courtyard: And I put the bathroom entrance into another set (more minifigures!). We should expect some repeats of minifigures of course (lots of Harry’s etc) but hopefully there will not be too many. As the theme progresses into the later years for example we will see more secondary villains turn up; Older versions of Draco, Death Eaters, Slytherin students, snatchers etc Also an exclusive character print for the advent calendar or a book I have thought of is Slughorn in his stripy pyjamas :D -
LEGO Stores' Build-A-Minifigure - Ideas for New Prints and Recolors
Bugbot20082 replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Ooo I like this thread :) Hobbit hair in grey (to finally make an old Bilbo) Brown/tan rabbits Light blue and dark red little birds (European Blue-tit and Robbin etc), as listed already ;) Recolours of the new scarf in a less cartoony spectrum Gandalf beard in white The new Dumbledore hair in white The One Ring in silver Frog recolours such as yellow, red etc Dark grey French Bulldog A return of the PotC conch-shell helmet, maybe a white variety Lone Ranger crow hat accessory in dark grey or dark brick yellow (to complete Neville’s Grandmother’s hat) Wizard hat in dark red Dwarf beards Gimli’s helmet in grey metallic, unprinted -
I can confirm this :) I was at Westfield Stratford last weekend and in the BAM tower was the most variety of animals I have ever seen before in a single store: black spider, scabbers the rat, lobster, dark and light grey cats, chihuahua, penguin, black terrier, dark green rubbery cobra and white rabbit! Not all the same quantity but still amazing none the less

I guess that could work, the horse’s tail likewise could be the existing horse-tail-costume accessory we have already. -

I hope so too, it could appear in a number of different sets or the CMF. I hope they go for a 2x3 tile with an accurate print which looks like the movie prop. In my draft CMF series 3 (which I have not posted yet) I did something a bit different and had the map as an accessory to an adult James Potter. (Lilly Potter comes with a baby Harry). -

I speculate that what happened when they developed the Great Hall Set went something along the following lines: they designed the set around the sorting ceremony firstly (hence all the students are the ones who’s names are called out in the film, and the hat getting a new mould), and then because of the limited space in the tower for much else they put in the mirror because it’s also from PS...and it is because of the mirror that Quirrell was added (so that every character with a version of a reflection was included in the set). Then I guess towards the end of the development of the set someone in marketing demanded they add a better ‘badie/monster’ so there could be some more obvious conflict on the boxart to excite children etc, so they made the other two builds with a small leftover budget. This would explain their small size and lack of new moulds or even prints for the two. Now that Lego has learned that the HP theme is selling well, they should revisit the Basilisk and Fawkes and do them properly in a new CoS set in the future. If we get a better Basilisk I personally will adopt the first snake to be a boggart manifestation :) -
Just made a custom Colin Creevey, borrowing a torso form the advent Callander: The camera is a new build style using the recent 1x2 rounded plate with hollow studs

I wouldn’t mind if they used that element if it had good printing (black hooves, hair texture etc), it’s better than nothing. However by the looks of it that mould is not compatible with a minifigure torso wearing a quiver, which is a big oversight :( I would wish Lego do a HP centaur ‘right’, in which case I would expect Firenze to appear in a CMF lineup with a better mould for the legs . A generic centaur could also appear in a small ‘grawp’ set I would love to see the thestral used again, maybe as an add-in to a big castle set like the originals were. I would do a brick-built Grawp, with any new parts such as a new head or hands being common with a similar build for the troll in another set Inferi could easily be green coloured skeletons :) they would be cheap to produce so a <£/$20 set of the cave scene could have several of them I have my fingers crossed for a small Pixie figure and Fang the dog. And if they do Fluffy the giant dog I would expect a new mould for the head, (used three times each ?) but the rest of the body brick-built. -

Hay guys this might be old news but I just popped into Hamleys Toyshop in London and they have a mountain of about 200 the bricktober Harry Potter 4 pack of Hogwarts teachers on the shelves. All for sale at the price of £20 Can’t find any of the other Bricktober packs such as Jurassic Park however -

I think Charlie might be a fun exclusive figure to have in a book, like how they did for Starwars with Luke and Han wearing medals. He would probably have a recycled face but they could identify him with a baby dragon or egg accessory Yes to all of these! That phoenix build in the Great Hall Set should was worthy of an advent calendar but very lacking compared to even the original mould Maybe the summer will be 5-6, following the pattern, but then the winter wave will be a 1-4 revisit ? -

Hay guys I have been to a couple of Lego stores in U.K. and Paris and in the build-a-figure booths they have the new Scabbers rat available and also the new Dumbledore hair in light grey (Great Hall Set) if you are lucky -
On the subject of animals... here are some perches I made for use in a Transfiguration classroom:
-
Unfortunately calendars never have new moulds, they have budget for some exclusive prints and colours but that’s it
-
Good idea! I was thinking if it was possible to re-print/colour an orangutan or chimpanzee into the demiguise, it could come with the handbag and maybe a hat stand. The Mooncalfs and Graphorns could possibly be brick-built I like all these ideas also, although I have created my own scarecrow for the pumpkin patch already ?
-
I have enjoyed advent Callanders from city and Starwars in the past... but afterwards I always end up selling most of the figures and recycling most of the builds into my stock but not for this HP Callander! Apart from the 4 presents perhaps everything is going to have a new home in my displays ? I would advise Lego continues with this and puts in small builds and accessories which for example maybe were cut from official sets for budget etc, and keep mini beasts/vehicles to a minimum Ideas for Next year: Headmaster’s podium House Hourglasses Yule Ball table (similar to set) Owl post & Numbus 2000 broom Niffler on a pile of treasure Norbert the dragon (brick-built)
-
I agree it is a very nice selection of builds once all displayed together, and one of the best Christmas tree builds I can think of from an advent calendar. I agree however also the order could have been better: the trees should not have been back to back and maybe they could have started the tables and flags earlier in the days to spread them out more. Parhaps next year we will get the trio in their Hogsmeade outfits (Hermionie using a recolour of the new hair/hat combo from hidden side)
-
Yes it does look similar with the roof shapes, I hope lego will do an official set for winter next year :) So what did everyone think of the advent Callander? My favourite model has got to be the architect statue! Now I just need to modify the Great Hall to make a space for it
