I’m very disappointed with the likely delay of the series :( but I understand the reason Hopefully it doesn’t impact this year’s sets, as I wonder if it would mean any shared new moulds would have to be left out :/

This is a modification I made to the Great Hall Set: the Headmaster’s tower. This build swaps for two of the large slope bricks, and is ridged, only downside is smallest tower is a bit fragile Building instructions:

I like the idea of a thread where we share our improvements to the existing sets, rather than original MOC’s :) I have made a few of these already and share them in the main discussion thread now and then, so I’ll compile them here soon My latest accessory build is a take on the skeletal bone candles seen in the PoA movie a lot. The white flowers make great vertebrae!

Hay guys I got board at the weekend and had a play in LDD. This is how I would do Norbert the Dragon if it was in this year’s Advent Callander:

If they eventually do a Lake-Task Set I hope it comes with a pack of the new sealife decorations from the friends theme (49595), perhaps in a new colour such as dark orange or tan

I agree, a ‘pirate ship’, tied to a hot-selling licensed theme is not something Lego would likely pass on, and it would be the natural way to get an updated Igor and Krum in their ‘arrival’ outfits (new hat mould?); very complimentary to the carriage set we have from last year. As a potentially large build, with a budget for 6+ Figures, I think it would be neat if they added in the less important Lake Task figures, and maybe Barty Crouch Sr. To prevent two versions of Krum in one set his shark-head version along with Harry would be in a much smaller set (a remake of the original) released at the same time. This way if you get both sets you complete your collection of 2nd Task champions, and maybe get an extra mer-person, and you spent most of your money on a big impressive ship rather than lots of mossy ruins.

I agree, with the popularity of ‘winter village’ city sets a snow covered Hogsmeade set of about 4 buildings and a street should be a best seller! Diagon Alley works for me too as separate sets considering the different scenes in different movies. If I was LEGO I would plan out the following sets: 1. Gringots Bank (PS). A remake of the original essentially, presenting the surface building, foyer, Harry’s volt. 2. Gringots Bank Heist (DHp2). Dragon and Lestrange volt. Volt can connect to set #1. 3. Weasley Wizard Wheezes 4. Diagon Ally Shops. A large set of ‘everything else’: Leaky Cauldron, Ollivanders, the book shop, pet shop etc. Includes Mundungus Fletcher.

Changing the subject slightly... Here is another one of my small complimentary builds: an addition to the Great Hall; the Headmasters Tower. It fits in replacement of two of the large slope bricks on one side of the big tower, everything else remains the same. Building instructions:

Apart from the tower I think the rest looks quite similar to the castle sections seen (very briefly) in the background of the Whomping willow in the COS movie, It looks like it’s another shorter outer wall beyond the belltowers

I think there is potential for another 4-5 castle sections of various sizes, but they would not all be named ‘XXXX Tower’ etc as the exterior may not be meaningful enough, perhaps that’s why we are missing iconic interiors like the chamber of secrets and Library...they are saving them for later. For fun I made a while ago a micro-scale prototype of the entire castle as modular sets in LDD and describe it in detail here. You can skip past the long text to the images :)

The new sets and rumoured minifigures has made me rethink my CMF expectations. I think so too, and the bushy hair-headphones/earmuffs combo element which is available in the new Hidden-Side theme (in purple) looks like it was made for Hermione :) I think that would be the best CMF version of her now that we know the otter patronus is in a set

I’m very surprised the DA room of Requirement Set is so small, how much of a build can we expect at that price? It might not even have a proper roof :/ Maybe it will look a bit like Snape’s office and classrom, I can live with that but it could have easily been much bigger and with more figures

Wow this thread has exploded! Very interesting new detail and clarity on the new sets, looks like I missed the mark on all of my predictions ? I hope the Astronomy Tower is a ‘Slug Club Party’ Set much like the Clock Tower was a ‘Yule Ball’ Set. So Neville for example is in his waiter outfit and Luna has her silver dress. The building likewise should have some other rooms such as a classroom to play out other scenes with figures from other sets. That being said I would say Cormac McLaggen should have been included in it instead of Draco? My guessing is the Ron included will be wearing his sleeping clothes and have a ‘drunk’ looking face, possibly with a foaming mouth on the reverse. The Grawp/Umbidge Set is my favourite of the lot, it makes the most sense as a package and it is quite thrilling to hear we are getting centaurs so early :D Like others have said already the absence of Order members and Death Eaters is surprising, hopefully they will be coming the CMF and/or later sets this year.

Nice to hear the Burrow is on the way but I agree it is very odd if it comes with another flying car. However looking at the above sets it should be HBP based (otherwise 4/5 sets are OotP). So Slug Club? Greenhouse? Might actually be a Diagon Alley shop such as WWW.

I got my first minifigure from the new DC collectable series and it came with two of the new transparent stud-on-an-angled-bar-thing, and I had an idea of using them to make the Hogwarts ghosts float! I think it works well :)

My predictions are as follows: $19.99 Duel at the Ministry. Voldemort, Dumbledore, gold wizard statue. $29.99 Ministry Battle. Sirius, Harry, Lucius, Bellatrix, Ginny $69.99 Durmstrang Ship. Igor, Krum, Igor’s assistant, Fleur (swimsuit), Cedric (swimsuit), Cho, Gabrielle Merperson $99.99 Large Hogwarts section obviously, too many combinations of rooms to guess minifigures. Probably the Astronomy Tower and room of Requirement inside. $39.99 Lake Task. Krum (shark head), Harry (flesh flippers), Hermione, Ron, Merperson, Barty Crouch Sr.

I’m expecting maybe a bit of both, but a focus on Yule Ball as it will make a prettier box cover :) I’m guessing we get an Arthur Weasley with a Santa hat and a pie and the Patel twins in their gowns. In any case I Hope lego is brave enough to move away from ‘core’ characters ?

Absolutely the new mould should be introduced in the CMF with Lockheart, but what I mean is Lego should not waste the new animal mould(s) by not using them again, and as magical creatures they only really are appropriate in the WW theme. Granted lego often introduces new animals in the CMF and then uses them at least once elsewhere after (the new penguin, lobster, seagull, small bird, big snake, skunk etc), but a few seem to have been sadly forgotten after the first launch: Mouse with elephant costume girl (2018), and the cobra outside of in-store BAM towers.

I’m quite excited for the (theoretical) small Pixie figure; I would want to collect a dozen of them (!), same a the Nifler... I wish lego would use them both as common Wizarding World fauna; adding them randomly in large sets in all the odd corners where spiders and rats are normally hiding (like behind staircases) I previously suggested an advent Callander build: a Nifler on a pile of treasure, another one I have thought of could be a pixie stealing a portrait of Lockhart (new printed tile)!
