Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Bugbot20082 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Hay guys since you liked my floor plan for a complete film-accurate courtyard I have made an attempt for the Quad also: It uses the main section of the ‘Clock Tower’ (top) and the Great Hall (bottom left), both unmodified. As before the red sections are those you can MOC/MOD, or might hopefully be future sets. This was hard to do at first due to the lack of information, and I wanted to replicate the shape as acutely as possible using the existing pin locations, so my proposal leaves out the tower with Dumbledore’s office, as well as simplifies the Way the Clock Tower merges with the Quad by removing the overpass. I have made a LDD a proposal for the ‘lookout Tower’ (the bottom section) which I will hopefully post pics of during the week :) -

What if in a year or two we get Bill’s Wedding but it is in the form of an Advent Callander? If you put aside the obvious detachment from ‘Christmas’ I think it could suit the style of an AC well: a few exclusive figures such as Bill and Flur (she can use the extra large dress mould from the CMF Queen) and some repeats of existing figures such as Harry in a suit & a generic Death Eater for example. The small builds can be the party accessories such as a big wedding cake, lanterns, and food tables, something burning etc Some of the highly demanded figures such as Xenophilius Lovegood in his wedding outfit could be in a CMF -

“Talk of a mandrake baby mold has got me thinking more and more about the possible Cornish pixie element we could be getting in the CMF series if we get Professor Lockhart. What do folks think this element will look like? A baby mold with wings? An entirely new mold? A brick build? Personally, I’m hoping for a new mold. I want loads of these little blue suckers to fill the MOC Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom I’m working on.” Some concepts I have seen base it on the trophy/microfigure, personally would wish for a single new mould more like the style of Baby Groot: having hands which can attach to clips so we can construct acts of mischief of them carrying off things including students! An anti-stud in the bottom would be standard thing to do, but considering they are more often flying than not I would love instead a hidden anti-stud with a central pin hole on the back so we can attach clear rods the wings could be duel moulded or more likely painted to save cost -

I agree with you the brown owl is not a ideal Errol, and I hope we get a grey owl in the future with a new print, maybe Percy in the CMF? My theory is that the brown owl was brought back for the Privet drive set foremost: to tie into the play feature and details of the letters, and to compliment the street sign build which is is an image straight from the first movie. Then when they designed the Burrow they wanted another owl to compliment it, but they couldn’t afford a new print/colour so the just used the same one already prepared for production. People are free to use the brown owl as Errol, pigwidgeon or any other owl as they please :), and it does look like they want you to use it as Ron’s owl -

Yes expect so, and it should be another $/£100 set, however I think this would be the first castle set of a section never mentioned by name in the movies, or ever given the visual/audio focus like the clock tower was in PoA, so they might call it something else like ‘the whomping willow’ was, such as ‘battle of Hogwarts’ etc You might have seen them before but I have made a small sketch model for a ‘Bell Towers’ set, based on the DH movie when they arrive and destroy the diadem: The sections would eventually combine with others into this possible combination to complete the courtyard if you wanted: -

Apologies for bringing up an old question but I never got round to answering this one and I wanted to as it is a good question :) For small (CMF compatible) creatures I would ideally like new moulds for: Fang, Padfoot, a Ferret, Pixies, a Pygmy Puff and the return of the goat as a patronus. A new ‘fluffy/fat’ cat mould which could be shared between Mrs Norris and Crookshanks would also be welcome. Also I hope to see the new flying owl in more colours/printing varieties such as Errol (grey owl). Another great new animal we could get through Harry Potter and then have used elsewhere such as pet shops and jungle themes is a Hornbill Parrot (it would come with a Professor Mcgonagall, as it appears in her lesson in CS). Missing accessories needing new moulds: short wizard pointy hat (worn by Flitwick and Arthur Weasley in the early movies), Decoy Detonator, Ravenclaw Diadem I’m quite happy with the remaining horcruxes using existing moulds, for example a gold cup with a ‘H’ print and the ring could be the same as the green lantern rings with a 1x1 black pyramid instead of the round tile. The Locket can use the existing medal mould especially if they can get a ‘S’ print on the front. -

For the resurrection stone some people have proposed a black recolour of the infinity stones, this is a custom from a great Lego HP enthusiast: -

Me same! I think a werewolf in the CMF would be a great figure: a new printed head mould and the rest of the parts same as the Demogorgon I think there is opportunity to get lots of the DH accessories and McGuffins such as the items from Dumbledore's will with the trio too in a future CMF series: Harry (travel clothes): mirror fragment and the Snitch Ron (travel clothes): potentially a new Gryffindor Sward and the Deluminator Hermione (travel clothes): magical beaded bag and Tales of Beedle the Bard book :D -

All things considered I’m actually not personally disappointed much with the recent revelation: we still have lots of great new sets this year including a much desired student figure pack and a full CMF series to look forward to later in the year and the AC with has exclusive figures confirmed. I think we should have been a bit suspicious of the idea of a GP Callander given the limited figure selection available (half of them would need to be repeats of existing figures/prints) and it wouldn’t integrate much with any existing set. We should presume next years AC will be Slug Club themed: repeats of Slughorn and the trio from the AT set likely with exclusives of Draco and Mclaggen maybe to warrant the purchase for those with the AT already. I would expect a GP AC after the release of a GP set, which itself might apear alongside or after Kreacher appearing in CMF series 3 at the earliest. Be happy this theme has such longevity potential for a few more years yet :) -
MOC series: Disney’s Atlantis: The Lost Empire

That looks great! nice details with the printing and interesting style with the stand/launch mechanism. It’s amazing how he built the same sub at the same scale and seems to have literally not used any of the same parts as me for any bit of it! Glad to see more Atlantis love in the Lego community :) -

Once again I find the creative choices of the box art for the HP AC quite strange: so much of the space available is just the background art: very little of the box front has any actual Lego on it and it’s concentrated all over one half, and the setting is weird too; I mean why would Ron and padma be alone, outside, after dark, seemingly halfway to hogsmeade during the Yule ball ? -

I think That’s a ‘ravenclaw’ present. It’s round, and you can see the grey clip plate representing its tie floating in front of it edit: sorry, only now catching up with the discussion and the newer higher res pics, this AC looks great! So pleased to see the twin(s) confirmed! -

Bugbot20082 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
Makes sense ? -helps less fortunate families get figures from the most expensive sets at a much cheaper price - makes each AC ‘relevant’ to that year’s sets - determines the ‘theme’ of each AC and the models are complimentary to people’s existing displays - exclusive AC content could be builds and figures which were considered but cut from the sets for cost Now that Lego has observed feedback from the astronomy tower it would logically follow that next year one of the exclusive new figures in the AC will be Draco in his party outfit :) -

I think I’m ok with the trio being repeats from the Clock tower, because this means that the budget for new pints etc will go into the other figures (both twins for sure). So going by last year as a guide we have 2 mystery figures, one of which could also have new printing and/or recolours -
Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Bugbot20082 replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
At first I assumed it was Hermione too, with the classic ‘princess’ hair style from The astronomy tower, but comparing with the Ron (we assume) next to her it does actually look like black hair, and she has darker skin tone and the dress slope (making her taller). I can’t imagine they would do one twin but not the other so this is great to see more never-before-made figures :) The repeat Harry is a little annoying but his outfit is very similar to Neville at the Yule ball so I will just swap the heads from an extra from CMF2 :D -

Great guess list for the DA ? seems very reasonable although I would prefer to get more exclusive characters like Mundungus and Tom than variants Also am I the only one who would like to see Narcissa in a series 3 CMF? I think her hair would justify a new mould; it could be dual moulded for the black and the blonde -

I’m working on my own greenhouse design to replace the one in the set (I’ll change that one into a custom Sprout’s office). It will be larger and mostly grey and more like the shape in the movies. I just ordered from PAB online the windows and once they arrive I’ll take some pictures :) -

Doesn’t the statue count as a minifigure too? It’s all unprinted granted but the body has the same cost of the arm and hand pre-assembly process. i imagine cost wise the three dress slopes in the set reduce the cost of the figures overall as they don’t need pre-assembly like regular legs do -

I like this list. But I would be happy to swap Fudge or Quirrel for Mundungus Fletcher as the location would suit him well & he is unlikely to appear in any other set You could also swap one for the Daily Prophet photographer (CoS) -

I’ll be buying two of this pack for sure, my first ever purchase of this style of set! I hope it sells well and next year we get another with 4 medium black legs and different students e.g. Pansy, Colin, Justin and Penelope -

Love the pack! Style Exactly as I expected, and I even like the little build of the book case and other accessories What spoils it for me however is that they all have full size adult legs, why not medium?? This year Lego seems to have all but forgotten about the medium legs, this set would have been a great way to fix the Luna from the RoR etc, and enable more variety for customising.
