  1. Wow! This _ is _ AMAZING!! I'm a big sucker for huge ships with ridiculously over the top decorations so when I saw this I fell in love with it immediately! What's even more bloody impressive though is "took approximately 35 hours to design over the course of 4 days"! I cannot fathom how something as big and intricate as this could be achieved in such a short space of time! Absolutely crazy! It took me hundreds of hours over the span of about a year and a half to digitally design about 85% of my ship-of-the-line (which is only about 9000 pieces) and then hundreds more hours to design the remaining 15% with actual physical pieces! So bravo! Any plans to build this beauty in the real world? Will probably have to sell a kidney or two though I imagine haha

    [MOC] Tintin Unicorn Ship

Love all the little changes and the new pics!! The black lines certainly look better without the little kink and I absolutely love the bookshelf and secret trapdoor! One little thing I noticed, it might be worth extending the capstan axle (or some form of loose connection) down to the lowest gundeck and then re routing the anchor chain to be wound up there. That way you would free up the holes next to the bow doors which would make it more accurate to the Unicorn because I believe historically speaking they are actually meant to be gunports for forward facing chaser cannons. As an added bonus it would mean you wouldn't have to disconnect the anchor chain every time you take off the upper gundeck. Keep up the awesome work!!

    [MOC] Tintin Unicorn Ship

@The Neighborhood Merchant It's hard to know exactly without seeing the colours in person, but I'd say the new bright light yellow might just about be the perfect colour. I could've nearly made my Unicorn out of that colour (although at a much higher price) but at this stage the range of bright light yellow pieces is just too limited so I went with Tan instead.

    [MOC] Tintin Unicorn Ship

Wow! What a pleasant surprise to see another Lego Unicorn in existence! I'm glad this ship is getting plenty of love and your version of it looks absolutely incredible! Definitely the most accurate version on the web so far! I really like that you went with the bold choice of yellow instead of tan. Ideally there'd be a colour somewhere in between the two but since there isn't it's good to see variation between the different Unicorns already out there. Nice work on the rear as well especially the side galleries, they're no easy feat to pull off! I'd definitely vote for this on Lego Ideas! Sadly though I don't think TINTIN is really well known enough to ever be made into a set. But we can always keep trying! Do you plan to add more rigging? Well done again, absolutely love this ship!

Unicorn Cross Section by Black Pearl, on Flickr I know said coming January 2020... but amongst moving houses and various other things unfortunately she isn't quite ready for viewing. Whilst the whole ship is done except for the rigging it'll still be a little while before I can properly show her to you all, so instead I have this side build I built first. Wish I could show you the whole ship but this'll have to do for now.

Thanks Anders T! Hmmm some very interesting questions indeed! I could answer your questions... or I could keep everyone guessing since the reveal is only about a week away. What I will say though is that what you’ve seen so far are renders only, however the finished product will indeed be made in the physical world...

Happy New Year all! Here's another little teaser for my upcoming Unicorn. Not long to go now! La Licorne wreck figurehead by Black Pearl, on Flickr

If I revealed the true colours it'd be too easy! Not that you need any more bragging rights... but you are indeed correct! She's the Unicorn! As a little tidbit, though the Unicorn only has enough armament to be considered a fourth rate and whilst there is indeed a fourth rate named Le Brilliant, I believe she's actually based on the third rate Le Brilliant launched 1690.

This ship has been in the works for far too long now but it's finally nearing completion so here's a little teaser for you all! New Ship of the line teaser! by Black Pearl, on Flickr Extreme bragging rights up for grabs if you can name the ship! Hint: It is fictional but it's not the Black Pearl...

Hi @The Neighborhood Merchant, Thanks for the welcome and very useful information! Sounds as though it should be strong enough then once the rigging is done. It'll be more aimed as a display model than a play model so hopefully I'll get away with a slightly weaker mast!

Hey guys! I have a question for anyone who's built a ship with an uninterrupted mast section taller than a 32 axle (~27 bricks) but only using the 2x2 round bricks. Since the 32 axle is the longest made by Lego how do you make sure the mast is strong enough in the area where there's no axle or if using two they both meet? Or is this not a problem once the rigging has been done? Is it possible to source custom made axles greater than 32? Any help is greatly appreciated! Cheers
