Bricktopia XL Dec 11&12 in Geleen, NL

For those interested, someone made a video report: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G067disenfs
  2. Hi all, Coming weekend, December 11 & 12, the DutchBricks Lego group (working on LUG status) is organizing a Lego event in Geleen (the Netherlands). Geleen is easy to reach from Aachen and Belgium as well. We have GBC, technic, Starwars, cars, planes, trains, sales, and much more. Entry is 2,50 Euro pp and tickets can be bought via https://www.dutchbricks.com/ I'll be there with an automated train layout using Mattzobricks firmware. Hope to see you there!
  3. Hi Oky, I guess 'when button is pressed' only triggers on the physical buttons on the hub, not on the remote buttons. Could you try with a specific remote button (or by pressing the physical buttons)? In my experience notes are played through the hub, and sounds are played through the smart device or laptop :( PS: there is a Lego IDEAS contest ongoing until December 8 where everyone can submit their sixth EV3 or Robot Inventor (51515) model.
  4. I was continuing your sentence: I'm wondering whether it'll be a real set, 6 sensors is a bit much.
  5. ... It'll be a real set. 6 color sensors just for lights might be a bit of overkill, right? So although it looks really cool, it could be a signal to the community that Lego heard/read about our 'white land rover' wish and topped it with a white mindstorms rover. If they are going this path I hope it will be expansion packs on top of the basic mindstorms set.
  6. I have a question where you might be able to help: I'm looking for the installer file for the 51515 software for Windows (10, 64 bit). The Microsoft store link is blocked on my (employer provided) laptop, but I can install executables. I've found the education Spike prime software, but that's not what I'm after of course. Does any of you have an idea where to get the software? If not, I'll post back the reply from Lego which I hope to receive in 4-7 working days... Update 19-10-2020: the Spike education software works without the need to change firmware on the brick.
  7. Two questions: 1) I guess you mean 32Kb memory? 32 Mb seems to be a lot if you're not using media. 2) could anyone indicate the difference in functionality between pybricks and the Python supported from the Spike education software? It seems different, so where do the features (or programming approach) differ? Counting down the days till I can pick up my 51515 set :D
  8. Hi Jim, great review! One question though, did you try programming through Python? Is this done using the spike education windows/mac app? Or are there other options for the 51515, like MS Visual studio code integration?
  9. A user commented on this video starting that he did so without problems: I would need doing it the other way round (spike firmware on the 51515 hub) if there won't be official Python support, since the spike hub has it through the education software.
  10. Any update Jim? I'm getting really curious!!!
  11. Earlier in this topic there was a lively discussion on whether the new mindstorms kit is actually better than the EV3 so it's not an absolute fact.
  12. I guess 5 to 7 years as previously with the EV3. The thing is, unlike Technic models which sometimes are only produced for one or two years, the mindstorms set is the theme itself. And as they want this theme (in an education and home version usually) it'll always be produced until a new version comes out.
  13. BTW: I just saw this video which shows and discussed a 'leaked' official video of the 51515. Looks good!!! Especially the fact that the motors are not in teal is reassuring for me, seems to have more of a white/grey/black emphasis than I got from the first pictures.
  14. That's very positive news from both of you!!! I'll be keeping a close eye on the lego.com website, and please post here when you review is online @Jim! :D
  15. I'm really waiting for this set to be released. As they said early Q4 in my mind this means October 1, but I guess I would need to wait a bit longer. Do you guys have any idea when the set will be available to order in the Lego shop???
