Custom Lego Hall of Armor by LukeClixBrix
Jack Sassy replied to LukeClixBrix's topic in LEGO Licensed
An amazing job done on this MOC! The tiling on the floor looks very nice and I like display of all those Iron Man suits (nice integration of the set into the MOC itself). Astonishing work! -
Another good modern rendition of the classic set! Like the way those Barracuda Bay islands have been shaped for this MOC. Funnily enough, I was planning on building a small dinghy for Bluecoats, something like this one. Only thing is, I accidentaly ordered that mast part in blue and as it turns out, yes, that colour might be rare for the mast, but the 8L bar that goes on the side of mast is available in blue only as a rare factory mould for 1 EURO!! (it never was released in any set in blue colour). Might finish that dighy at some point. Anyway, good job!

Where may one find such island?

A remaster that was much needed. Looks so much better than the original. Also, I like that you remade Captain Kragg into casual minifigure. Good job!

How could I miss such day? Have to write it down in me calendar for the next time. A fascinating build, good word play on this one too. I like the way that hat was done, but then again, I like everything about this MOC. Good job!

[Poll] Do you like LEGO as a company?
Jack Sassy replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have mixed feelings. I grew up with this company's products and it holds a special place in my heart, but the way TLG has been acting in recent years (18+ sets, VIP system, etc.) just feels rather strange to me. Part of me still believes they can redeem themselves (''redeem'' might be a bit too strong of a word to use but I'm not sure how else I could describe it). -
A nice one indeed. Love how much detail you've captured at such scale. Good job!

The right side of Johnny Thunder's hat.
Jack Sassy replied to Jack Sassy's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Ah, that makes quite a lot sense. Just one thing doesn't make sense, why was the hat on the right in few sets? I have similar situation with Ugha Warriors from Indiana Jones, back in the day they looked fine to me, but now, looking at them, I realise how awful they look, even for 2008 standards: It just feels like Lego was running low on budget, therefore put together this design, threw two of the same minifigures in one set and called it a day, no variety whatsoever. -
The right side of Johnny Thunder's hat.
Jack Sassy posted a topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
(If anyone thinks this would fit better somewhere else, for instance, in community sub-forum, then feel free to move it.) Hello everyone, I've been thinking rather recently of Infamous adventurer Johnny Thunder's Australian hat, as we all know, one side of it is lifted up. However, sometimes the side which is lifted up is represented differently, sometimes on the right, sometimes on the left. ^ Here is 3055 Adventurers Car, which is a promotional set from the original wave. As you can see, Johnny's hat has the left side lifted up, however, some of the other sets from the same wave show his hat having the right side lifted up: And so on, only 5988 The Temple of Anubis (name depends where you live) shows his hat with the right side lifted again: Next two waves have similar pattern going on, with few exceptions, then we get to Orient Expedition, the fourth and last wave, here we see his hat lifted on the left side in every set: Even 70815 Super Secret Police Dropship shows his hat with left side lifted. So, after this long introduction, my question is - on which side is his hat considered to be correctly lifted, left or right? All answers, theories and so on shall be greatly appreciated. So huge! Always great to see more work from you, and this one certainly holds up to every other version of Batcave that has been before. Words cannot describe the amazement of this MOC.

Lovely scene. Both boots look great, there was a variety back in those days so they make sense. Also, I see that Captain Brickleton has made his way to Wild West.
-
Would love to see it all together as a whole town. Keep up the good work!

Nice one. Is this going to go together with some other builds (indicated by the pin slots underneath)? I do very much like when a Western build has so many accessories. Good job on this one!

Ah, at last Tobago comes into play! An amazing job on her! Perhaps the lowest lines could be more to the inside, it's a bit too steep, considering how the hull is under the water line. But truly, it's the most complex, amazing looking brick-built hull I've ever seen.
-
Should it, though? I'm not sure where does the popularity spring from but it has made its way everywhere quite fast. I personally prefer white mode, but hey, if you like black mode, that's fine Sure, someone could make a black mode, but that's up to administrators.
-
Perhaps a browse through Flickr, Pinterest etc. might help you finding new techniques. I've been searching for a good brick-built hull bow technique for a long time now, I've found few, but nothing that I could combine to make an ultimate idea of mine. That truly does hurt, but I couldn't agree with you even more.

Not quite a master builder, but I usually just build either something randomly from the parts that I have, or build something that I have a vision of in my head. For far bigger projects I (sort of) make digital model and then based off it, I create the thing in real life. But like @MAB said, experience is important, knowledge of parts, building techniques and all that.

Best place to buy legos in bulk?
Jack Sassy replied to metalgeekzy's topic in General LEGO Discussion
(Lego bricks, not Legos ) Best place to buy Lego bricks in general is BrickLink. You could use BrickOwl, though i didn't find it that comfortable to me. It's a personal preference really. -
Do very much like the way that Trophy Room's coming along.

I'm not going to go there but what I expect most out of it is...... ...a pirate pub.

At last, finally a pirate-themed submission that gets to the review phase instead of getting removed. Having high hopes for this one. If not as a Lego Ideas set, then at least as part of the next Pirates wave.

I sometimes get lost in me own philosophy. Going a bit off-topic, what happened to this topic's original creator @David Thomsen? He's a banned outlaw because he said something in the Star Wars rumours topic, I'm not sure I get the full context (possibly there was a picture) but would a member get banned after one picture? Perhaps ye, Sire, might know more (or someone else).

Trust me, I've seen quite a lot of it in here in Latvia in the latest (it's like someone is trying to start a Civil war), how did we venture to such discussion?
