  1. Yeah, I also find the motocross tyres better fitting on the contest model. I'd keep the golden rims, I think they're looking really cool on the test rig. Why not DBG? All in all totally awesome! I wish I could do something like that already, but I'm afraid, that will take a while...
  2. Looks fantastic, the wheels are killer and so much fit the theme! Only the yellow handles look a little off IMHO, but could look differently in real. A similar looking part but with much greater color variety (e.g. dbg) would be the older axle connectors. I hope you will make a digital model so I could study the insane engine!
  3. Ok I was wrong with my assumption, now I see that there's a slot visible on the pin closer to the front of the white car. What do you think about using 1/2 pins in the fender part with the studs pointed and inserted to the thin liftarms and 2L pins in the part behind the thin liftarm (where currently you have 3L pins) and 3L bars connecting them alltogether?
  4. @desert752: Cool Racers! They're attached to 2 half pins. Check the white version on https://www.flickr.com/photos/141718063@N06/50839876218/in/album-72157717907092491/, there is some blue shine coming out of the upper axle connector pin holes. Very cool solution @desert752.
  5. Wow, that looks gorgeous! Fine work, I don't even know all parts you're using here. Look very useful for future projects.
  6. It's been some time since I provided an update on models from my Turbo Racers vs. Police Interceptors series here, most (22 cars + variations and a "dyno") are on Rebrickable now: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/?tag=10127&include_accessory=on&include_bmodel=on&include_subset=on Because the models I want to present today are not strictly racing, I thought about starting a new thread for them: TG Power wrecker This is a wrecker truck based on a modified body of the F A H R T-Laster with the following functionality: Selectable AWD/RWD (propelled by RC Buggy motor (Chinese replica installed ATM), steering by PF Servo motor, power and control by a BuWizz 2.0) manual front winch manual rear boom (closely based on the one from the 42079 B model but with manual double winch) rear PTO (motorized by PF M motor) rear towing hitch Colors are not final yet, e.g. the currently red boom mechanis will become LBG. This wrecker is pretty fast. I experimented with the new diffs to make it stronger instead, but I couldn't avoid gear slipping with a 12z bevel gear against the 28z bevel gear of the rear diff when driving it perpendicular. The propulsion motor then sat half a stud higher but was still only kept in place by pins and could be pushed up over time. Do others perhaps experience gear slipping with the new diff when driving it with a 12z bevel gear in perpendicular fashion? Can this work reliably at all? This video shows an application for the PTO, i.e. driving a small car lift: Car transport trailer This features: double winch at the front for pulling cars onto the platform (can be driven manually or from a PTO) tiltable platform (using two small LAs, manually driven) extendible ramps Except for the coloring I consider it pretty final. Hope you like it.
  7. Small update: Both models are "finished" for now and available on Rebrickable (incl. digital models): https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-62211/johnnym/tg-power-wrecker/ https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-62212/johnnym/tg-car-transport-trailer/ In addition here's a super-short video showing the loading of a car onto the trailer with the help of the trailer's double winch powered by the PTO of the wrecker: @MangaNOID: What do you think about these hood scoops on the wrecker? They didn't make it into the model on Rebrickable but will most likely be included into the race pickup I plan to create from the wrecker. Or maybe - because they could be used on mutliple cars depending on their size and I already have a few different versions - they will be offered as separate models as tuning options for the Turbo Racers.
  8. @HorcikDesigns: These look totally awesome, especially the engine of the first one!
  9. Thanks for the hint, but I don't want to make it too realistic, in the end it's still science fiction. I think I'm set with the exhaust going out between the rear fender and and the attachment to the seat above. I imagine something like what the F-117 has for its exhausts but rounded (around the fender) and the exhaust being cooled down that way, too. That's a cool snowmobile! The setup sounds similar to the one I use in the Renegade, though I use shaft drive instead of a belt (or chain for the bike below). A friend pointed me to the turbine driven bikes from MTT: So these are existing - insane! Thank you! Hey, nothing prevents you from using a turbine, too. Most of the other bikes in that contest use similar but more common cumbustion engines, too. It just came with the way they're attached. But could be made a feature, what?
  10. To be honest I'd also like to see bigger wheels on this machine. I think at the moment it looks a little like a pocket bike - but a damn cool one , considering all that functionality that is included. What about 68.8 x 36 ZR on bigger rims, they should have a neraly identical footprint as the ones you use currently but I think the bigger rim will make a visual difference. Or if staying with the same rim size you could try to use 68.8 x 40 Q balloon tyres on older 3 pin hole rims. It would look like the ones on the black truck and be slightly smaller than 80 mm in diameter IIC but also a little thinner (original idea and implementation by @HorcikDesigns):
  11. Thanks! Well I either have to do some research about how their tubing could look in reality (I think I remember having pictures of the engine of the Gloster Meteor or its predecessor) or I let myself guide by what is possible in the available space. Thank you and hey, it's not a bug it's a feature! Just imagine, everyone could have a bike with burning tyres like Ghost Rider! Actually I imagine the exhaust being funnelled to the outside between the rear fender and the extension of the seat (i.e. where the rear light is attached), although it's not fully constructed in that way now - not sure if I can implement that - there is a visible distance between those parts. I think that could also work in reality. Though I have to say, that leaning with turbine exhaust support is intriguing.
  12. Well, not for me, I saw that exact message today for the first time. But if it was there for you since months and your orders arrived with highly variable delivery time during that time frame, I assume it's just bogus then.
  13. I checked today and there it reads (not sure if that's only the case for Germany, though): Wat?!! A few days ago the tyres weren't available and now that they are available delivery takes up to nearly two months?
  14. Thank you @MajklSpajkl! About that liftarm: I needed something with axle hole and two pin holes at one end though it's not strictly neccessary I think. But actually I like how it "copies" the lines of the middle section over the turbine inlet. With some added panels it might become a mudguard perhaps. And if I let my eyes blur my vision a little, I can see a creature head and the liftarm hanging out being its lower jaw. Could now answer that myself: Using the chain elements of 42036 instead makes a day and night difference. The mechanism now works considerably smoother and the bike can run several meters without stopping when pushed. I wouldn't have expected that, as the elements look nearly identical even when viewed with a magnifying glass.
  15. Ok, the "torque transformer" is ready and the turbine is now connected to the drive shaft. I created new pictures showing the changes. The bike hence got a little lower in the middle and I now use smaller side panels at the rear to reveal the rear wheel - I think it looks better that way. The turbine is not finalzed yet in regard to color and rims used. I will change to the newer rims but first have to precure some. And it might get a little shorter on the way, too. From the rear wheel to the turbine shaft it's 20z => 12z, then 16z =[chain]=> 16z and last 36z => 12z. There is some considerable noise and also some resistance in the drive train - I assume partly due to the up-gearing and partly due to the chain. What's your opinion on that? And as the chain elements used are most likely from pre-2000 sets, do newer chain elements run maybe smoother? Here some detail pictures: ...and the turbine itself (still w/o attachments, tubes, etc.): Again, high-res pictures available in the corresponding bricksafe folder.
  16. Thanks, Thirdwigg! Already made some progress: the shaft drive is in, as is a "prototype" GENESIS Vortex 500 micro-turbine and it's still good-looking - in my eyes. New pictures maybe tomorrow... Next step: the torque transformer, the magical device that "connects" the turbine shaft to the drive shaft.
  17. Hi all, I actually wanted to start with the presentation of my MOCs/Mods in chronological order of creation, but the upcoming release of the 42098 car transporter and the limited number of suitable cars I know of justifies to start with my modification of the 42093 Corvette, the... V10 Muscle car Believe it or not, I got the idea for this car from the Corvette's spoiler. I thought the base form of it would make a good overhanging front/hood part, i.e. like on a '69 Mustang or Camaro. When looking at the front of the blue car from the 42098 car transporter I assume other people also think the design makes a good front part. The car is based on the Corvette's chassis and body with some modifications to allow for 10 cylinders and a more muscle car like body. It's a little shorter than the Corvette though the black rear section seems to shorten it visually even more, but the wheel base is identical. It's WIP because of its issues (see below) and as I'm still undecided about the color of the cylinder head and the pistons and what side of the rims to use. I think the opposite of the rim side used for the Corvette fits a muscle car best, OTOH historic muscle cars also often use modern rims. Maybe I'll use both sides depending on the "mission". I would like to build this car in all black, but as there are no black mudguards yet, I either have to wait or paint some orange ones - I mean you can buy a lot of Corvettes for one 42098, so orange ones will be the cheapest ones to sacrifice. Issues The front lights as well as the rear lights are a little too big IMO, especially when viewing it on the pictures, but when you hold it in your hands they don't look too oversized. The car is also not as stiff as the Corvette, for example the cabin roof is not fixed, so the car can be bend more easily than the Corvette. Same for the dashboard and the front part that is connected to the power dome. There's no hog steering installed ATM, though I think such a mechanism can still be re-installed. I steer it with my thumb. The inner part of the chassis is a little too low for a muscle car me thinks, but as it's mostly black it doesn't attract too much attention. Features front grill and lights section can be modified/exchanged easily, as can be done for the rear parts, so you can create your personal look or have multiple versions of the same car. I changed the front part already multiple times and am currently preferring the configuration in the pictures. number of cylinders is configurable from 6 over 8 to 10, though the timing is a little weird I assume; the fake engine is connected to the rear axle (same mechanism as in the Corvette) can use various tyre/rim sizes: tyre 43 x 14 with wheel 30 x 14 (front and rear) and tyres 43.2 x 22 ZR or 49.53 x 20 with wheel 30.4 x 20 (rear only) With a change of the driver's position, an additional interior police light, some - though not easily, if at all, recognizable - modifications to the engine to further improve its power output and some exterior addons/changes like a different grill section with four head lights, a bumper guard to handle obstacles, bigger 49.53 x 20 tyres at the rear axle to actually bring the additional engine power to the road, four exhaust pipes to allow the upgraded engine to breath freely and finally a huge wing to keep the rear on the road, it becomes the... V10 Interceptor I think Max would like it. Instructions Sorry not yet, but if there's demand I can give it a try. I have another Corvette available to disassemble for it, but am still undecided what tool to use (photo series, stud.io, etc.). Maybe interested people will also just find out what to modify on the Corvette with some additional pictures of the underside and some additional perspectives in detail. So what do you think? A car worthy to be transported with the 42098?
  18. Sorry, but I can't speak nor read Russian. From Google Translate I figured you might ask for when the instructions are ready? Sorry, but I didn't create real instructions for these three models, but you can find the digital models (created with Studio) on Rebrickable, HTH: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-38227/johnnym/v10-muscle-car/ https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-38254/johnnym/phaedra-palomino-mach-2/ https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-38330/johnnym/plymouth-roadrunner-superbird/
  19. Same here, already since a while (1h or more). Re-login didn't help either. This thread is a "duplicate" of ...so it broke at least 8 hours ago.
  20. You can still make one of those "loooong" bikes from Fury Road out of it. I think these had a distinct look. I think bright green would work better than lime here, lime just works better with black IMO. Though stickers can make a difference. Apart from that I still find that earlier version w/o the upper front panelling the best looking one so far.
  21. Yeah, that helps, thanks. Nice and lots of different applicatiions - I already saw that on YouTube some days ago. Also your video about your latest pickup.
  22. @Thirdwigg Great! Those instructions work very weel for me. Very much appreciated! I now need to find the pneumatics equipment. How come LEGO did only sell this pump in one singular set. Say, is the pneumatic hose of a comon length? If not I think I still have some old un-cut pneumatic hose from my 8851. At least I hope so, because I don't want to disassemble my 8851 for the hoses as the upper part hasen't lost much parts in 30 years and is still working correctly.
  23. If you are searching for some original stickers, the sticker sheet of 8051 has two gauges fitting those 2 x 2 round tiles.
  24. Beautiful! I like that car since I first "drove" it in Stunts (aka 4D Sports Driving) - if some of you still know that DOS game.
  25. Oh man, you crazy scientist! My father would like that.
