Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Holden Brickfield replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
I think it’s implied that since he’s still with Hagrid when he shows up at King’s Cross, he never went back to Privet Drive, though since the train leaves at 11:00AM, and I think they have lunch at the Leaky Cauldron after getting all his school supplies, they probably spent the night at LC and went to King’s Cross the next day, so August 1st, instead of September 1st, which I don’t think is too big of a change. The precise date never has any plot relevance in the movies anyway -

I’m still cautiously optimistic, comic con is going on for five days after all, makes sense that they wouldn’t reveal everything on the first day. Maybe the online booth will update daily? -

Ah gotcha, I don’t follow that line so I wouldn’t have known. Thanks for the heads-up! -

Is that sheet music tile a new print? If it is, that’s quite confusing, because when I go to play it on piano, if you make the B a B flat and the F an F sharp, it’s the first few notes to “When You Wish Upon A Star”...which is a Disney song lol -

LEGO’s not holding any panels but they do have an online booth that I think you can access on the SDCC website -

From what I remember we were never supposed to even see that version of the set, with one of the designers saying they were surprised that was the one brought to toy fair that year, so I don’t think it usually happens that way. Someone please correct me if I’m wrong about any of this, it’s been so long -

Actually as it so happens, Matthew Ashton, VP of Design at LEGO answered some questions on his Instagram account a few hours ago, and one of them was exactly what you were wondering: “What is the hardest part of being a lego designer?” “When you’re designing a LEGO set, of course you create the dream model to begin with, and then you have to figure out what are the right compromises to get it down to the right price that we need to and all of that. So that can be pretty tricky but it’s a good challenge.” -

I mean, at least Batman and Co. are there to combat the villains in that set, with an Azkaban set...I don’t think the location offers a scenario like that (good guys vs. bad guys) at any point in the series -

I’ve always thought this scene: Tonks: By the way, wait til you hear the news: Remus and I— Mad-Eye: //barges in// Oh ALL RIGHT ALL RIGHT WE’LL HAVE TIME FOR A COZY CATCH-UP LATER Was so emblematic of how the movies treat Remus and Tonks—just as it’s about to develop further, the movie’s plot dictates there’s no time -

Shifting the conversation back to LEGO, has anyone else submitted a question to the VIP-only thing? -

I went ahead and asked: Has there been a specific aspect to working on the LEGO Harry Potter revival that’s been the most gratifying, and which movie has been your favorite to adapt into LEGO so far? I submitted the question before when Marcos Bessa was answering questions on Lego’s Instagram story weeks back, but it didn’t get picked. Maybe now it will -

^^this. It sometimes feels like it’s so easy for discussion on here to devolve into name-calling and all that, so I appreciate the level-headedness through this debate, even if some people seem to have gotten a bit tired going through it. I think you’ve made your point quite clear at this point, and even though I think it’s probably just best to drop the topic from here and wait for the official announcement (which may or may not be super soon given the VIP teaser above), I appreciate you coming forth and offering your perspective -

If I could just put in my two cents real quick—putting the logistics of a $400 microscale DA set aside, I think we should also consider the set’s, for lack of a better word, sell-ability. I know at least most of us were really taken aback when the last D2C was microscale, but I think it made a lot of sense to do Hogwarts at that scale, as any bigger in scale and you wouldn’t have the whole iconic front view of the castle without it being ridiculously expensive. Hogwarts, to say the least, is extremely iconic. Diagon Alley? Not nearly as iconic, so it wouldn’t be enough to sell it at the same price as the Hogwarts model while also being microscale, so it would need something extra—minifigure compatibility, which it wouldn’t be able to achieve at microscale. These are just my thoughts. I’m prepared to eat my words if it, somehow, by some painful twist of fate, ends up being microscale, but I’m feeling pretty confident in my conclusion -

That’s a relief it wasn’t about this theme, though that’s still a bit of a bummer that Hidden Side is ending. I never personally bought any of the sets with my limited lego budget, but it still looked like it had fun and interesting builds and playability. Rip -

Well we know for sure we’re getting part recolors (Florean’s hair piece now in dark brown), so new molds can’t be too unlikely of a possibility, right? Sorry it’s not a great answer to your question, I’m sure there are people on here who are more knowledgeable about that kind of thing than I am -

Love the new Harry fig that leaked, though I am getting nervous about WWW’s inclusion. Hopefully soon a figure from HBP will leak, to lead more credence towards its presence in the D2C -

You might be onto something there...like maybe the GWP could be a small ice cream parlor-themed add-on to the main set, so it wouldn’t take up any pieces from the D2C. Plus, is it more likely that a figure from the GWP would leak than one from the D2C? -

My purchasing of it is basically contingent on WWW being present, so as long as that shop is there I’m pretty much good with whatever, though that would be an interesting trade-off -

I do apologize for seeming to spark this debate, I would’ve been hoping for Tonks in the CMF regardless of the disproven leaker, and even though he has been disproven, I didn’t see any harm in still hoping for that figure, especially since, in my eyes, she would make a perfect CMF candidate, but that’s just me -

I’m really *really* hoping we’ll see an OotP Tonks in the CMF, and an OotP Sirius Black somewhere down the line. Also wanna see Bill Weasley, and maybe even Dragomir Despard (Ron’s Gringotts disguise) as a minifigure -

It’s not a Mario minifigure if that’s what you’re thinking—just the Mario electronic figure that’s meant to be used with the Super Mario sets coming out
