Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion
Holden Brickfield replied to Captain Nemo's topic in LEGO Licensed
What hairpiece do you guys think the twins are gonna use in DA? The same hairpiece they had in the 2011 DA, or something new? I was rewatching the WWW scene in Half-Blood Prince and thinking maybe the sleepyhead hair would suit them pretty decently, plus it would make them more distinct from their original versions -

Oh good, glad to see I’m not the only one with that problem -

The only similar looking signs to those ones I could find in Diagon Alley (the Wizarding World of Harry Potter’s DA to be precise), are to F&B, except the real signs say, “Standard Book of Spells (all grades)” and “Potions•Charms•Herbology”, so no reference to either of the two signs on the sticker sheet, but they’ve got the same aesthetic design (all have pointing hands on them) so I’m guessing they’re for F&B -

Cheers to that, @sebastian666. Having this forum has truly been a blessing these last few months, and despite the occasional craziness that ensues on here, I wouldn’t trade it for anything, so thank you, to all of you on here -

Welp, I went back-and-forth on this a few times, but I finally decided to buy a whole set of Series 2 from The Minifigure Store UK. It’ll be the first CMF series I’ve ever gotten all the figures for, and I’m excited to get my hands on them, possibly using some of them (like Harry, Ron, and Hermione) to populate DA if that set doesn’t end up coming with older variants of those characters. Thanks to @RogueTwo for bringing attention to the store! -

I’m thinking Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, George, Hagrid, Gilderoy Lockhart, Florean Fortescue, and Ollivander will be in there for sure, but beyond that I’m not holding any bets on anyone, so I’m really excited to see who’s left! 15 or so figures feels like a good number but I’m obviously welcome to more than that -

Oh no, I agree, that would’ve been really cool, it just doesn’t seem like that’s gonna be the case here. I have faith in the designers that they’re gonna put as much care into this set as we’ve come to expect over the last 3 years, so I’m not too worried -

My thinking here, and you’re free to disagree with me on this conclusion, is that, looking at the sticker sheets, the shops you can tell are in the set based on sheets A, B, and C, seem to me to be small-medium sized shops (with the exception of Florean Fortescue’s, which I’m guessing is just a stand), Ollivander’s probably being the biggest of those shops. WWW would appear to be the largest of the confirmed shops (and all this is based on how many stickers are devoted to each shop). I only estimate 7 shops not counting the ice cream stand, and that’s still assuming Gringotts is included, with a good portion of those shops individually probably not taking up as many pieces as any of the three buildings from the 2011 DA set, so a 5,000 piece count doesn’t seem all that far-fetched to do justice to the shops, at least to me -

Except...we do. Sticker 2 on sheet B confirms that this is minifigure-compatible scale—it’s a sticker meant to go on a standard door piece, and its size in relation to figures matches the size of the real life door to the Daily Prophet office, as can be seen at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It’s not microscale. Please, get over it. Ah, @Guyon2002 beat me to it -

I actually just noticed that myself. I think they decided to change the side the gold corners are on to match their relative position to Tom Marvolo Riddle’s label, which is meant to be on the back cover instead of the front, so it makes sense the gold bits should be to the left of the label. It still irks me as well, though, since they shouldn’t be on the binding side of the book, but oh well -

You may be starting to turn me around on this. Even though I’ve spent a majority of my participation in the DA discussion hoping that WWW is included, I generally want all the shops to be done well, and if that means Gringotts needs to be done separately, and in doing so would provide the average consumer with a cheaper way to have a piece of DA, then so be it. I’ll most likely end up buying Gringotts anyway, and that doesn’t bother me too much; I know I’ll be able to gather the necessary funds somehow between now and presumably next summer. Now if only LEGO would just reveal the set so we can put this speculation to rest -

This is the theory I’m going with, and still hoping Gringotts will be in the set as well, since it wouldn’t make sense to have a premium Diagon Alley set without arguably its most iconic building. General question though, is there any benefit to having clear-backed stickers for opaque pieces as opposed to opaque stickers, from a LEGO set design perspective? -

As @Modal mentioned, the Mario game cartridge does have a sticker (2 in fact) and there’s another large sticker for the back of the television set, but to my knowledge those are the only stickers across the Nintendo sets that aren’t pre-applied -

I’m also having trouble figuring out some of the stickers here...like sticker 3 on sheet A, cannot for the life of me figure out what that even is -

Perhaps they leave Gringotts as the final building you build? -

Is it possible that Gringotts doesn’t require any sticker detail? Or if it did require detail maybe those are prints? It’d be very bizarre to have a Diagon Alley set without Gringotts -

Holy shoot!! FOUR STICKER SHEETS!! And WWW is definitely confirmed ahhhhhhhh. Sorry to the people who would’ve preferred it being its own set, I definitely understood your guys’s point of view there, but this just makes me so happy -

I’d honestly just take the blow if WWW isn’t in DA, as long as it eventually shows up as its own set, which I could really see them doing, but it’s not like they’d announce that separate set coming in the future at the same time they announce DA, so if it’s not in DA, I just have to be hopeful for a while, until they either make it, or the line ends -

Hmmmmm, necessary as in, being younger variants of those characters to complement the older WWW variants coming in DA? I really hope this is the case, as opposed to them not showing up in DA at all -

As we impatiently anticipate the reveals for the D2C and the CMF, I have a question for you all—what was your first Harry Potter set? Mine was either the original 2001 Hogwarts Express or the 2002 Privet Drive (I was quite young at the time so my memory of acquiring either of them is spotty at best) -

The idea was that there would be an announcement tomorrow, but a tease for that announcement today, as that has basically been the case for the two most recent D2C sets -

I don’t get nearly as much lego as I used to, but Harry Potter is my main theme. Sometimes I’ll dabble in Star Wars, but that’s pretty much it as far as the themes I buy, though I do follow a few other themes like Ninjago (hoping to get the new Destiny’s Bounty eventually) and Marvel, DC, Ideas, and Creator, and get excited for those themes even if I don’t end up buying anything from them
