    [MOC] Hogwarts Library

@BrickMatit The library is the one thing I've been missing from my Hogwarts, and I've been haunting Rebrickable looking for suitable instructions and tried to make my own but I just wasn't happy with it. In real life, I spend a lot of time at the library and it felt really central to the HP story and I wasn't doing it justice. But then I just saw your creation and I am just BLOWN AWAY. You've inspired me to start over again first thing tomorrow! Thank you!!

[MOC] - HP Hogsmeade Village - Part 1: Honeydukes

I love this! It looks so warm and inviting! I also think that Harry Potter properties especially are open to interpretation; I had a fully realized Hogsmeade (and Hogwarts!) in my mind before I ever saw a movie, thanks to the wonderful books! I can't wait to see your next installments!

    Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Build-wise, I was really happy with the Chamber of Secrets set. At first I was pretty meh about the idea of an entirely new castle system that deviated from the 2018-2020, but it's honestly been so much fun switching it around and making layouts. They look really good from the outside as well, with all the variations of pillars and arches and windows. I didn't care for the Fluffy set at all, but my kids LOVE that one. There is always some minifigure riding Fluffy around. All the sets are easy to mod, for those like myself who can't leave the sets alone, lol! The only ones I haven't picked up yet are the First Flying Lesson and the Accessory Pack. I'm waiting until I need something to put me over for a GWP I want!

    Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Not sure about the golden minifigs yet, but my chocolate frog cards have gone to tiling Myrtle's bathroom floor, lol! I *also* had Lockhart's frog card in the same bag as his minifig. Perhaps that one isn't random at all :)

    Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I just built the Chamber of Secrets set along with the Polyjuice Potion set, and they really are fantastic builds. Nothing too repetitive, nothing too boring, and my kids are LOVING the modular system. There's a lot more play features than the older sets, and once I swap out the green for grey roofs, they're going to look just fine with the older sets. I'd be fine if they keep these up!
  6. Elves was my gateway into the LEGO world (my then-five-year-old was such a fan!). Those were the first sets I built, and in my imagination, they were always a bit grander, a bit more magical, but I had no idea they could be as wonderful as what you've presented here! This is such beautiful art that you've created! I've since turned my personal attention more to the wizarding world since Elves was retired, but I'm feeling a sudden itch to go revisit! Absolutely breathtaking. And please do let us know if you ever show at a convention! I see you're across the pond, but it would be well worth the visit!

Ooh, I think you're right! I'm going to play around with that this week. To be fair, my kids play with my sets (eek!), and it usually ends up next to Medieval Market Place, which is substantially smaller, and my daughter's purple book shop :) Thanks for the feedback! @Princess Amy, have you looked at Bricklink? You can buy individual shops there as well from multiple sellers, and I've personally had a much better experience with Bricklink shops vs. ebay. Regarding the recoloring, I do that myself all the time, but I haven't found a good solution to the pink problem for QQS either. I think I have enough brick red to give that a try, but I think it's going to be too dark. Your green solution is nice; olive green would add some depth to the palette since Flourish & Blotts already uses sand green.

@Seaber, I love that first entry! You captured the scene and the emotion of it so well!

I also kept them in, but my kids play with my sets. I don't love them and would replace them if I didn't keep all my spare tan pieces for other ventures. I think I'm going to do what @MooneyRemus suggested and add a floor at some point; I've just struggled with what to put in that space.

I was one of those who REALLY wanted the Diagon Alley set, but both the price and the pinkness of Quality Quidditch Supplies made me decide to go it on my own. So I bought a ton of windows from Bricklink, 3 pages of stickers from the set (still waiting on the one for "The Daily Prophet!") and used my ample supply of bricks to make my own versions. My version has all the shops built with no sidewalk or street, because it worked into my existing city like that, and I changed other things I didn't like (like you can actually take things down from the bookshelves in Flourish and Blotts!). Ollivanders is from the old Diagon Alley set (and re-colored). And of course the inside of "The Daily Prophet" is all custom. And my sincere apologies to the creator of "Potage's Cauldron Shop," JL.Brick. I saw the Instagram post, loved it, immediately set out to make my own, and only today saw they posted the instructions for sale on Rebrickable!

So I took SO MUCH inspiration from this thread (and particularly from @Micmac, @Whovastron, and @Magicbrick, but I'm sure I'm leaving some people out!) and built the Hogwarts Bell Tower. I really wanted a place to put the Room of Requirement, so I built it around that room. The Divination class is above, and spinning the table on the right reveals a turning Vanishing Cabinet in the room below. The ground floor houses the Triwizard cup and the House Points. I also put a little room for Dobby in the attic above Divination. Next up on the list (once again, thanks to people in this thread!) is the Viaduct Entrance! Details of the Room of Requirement, with the hidden wall "closed": The Wall itself slides to the left but is also easy to remove if you want to play with the entire space (my sets get lots of play from my kids): And Divination:

@Magicbrick Welcome, and what a lovely entrance! I feel almost sure I have run across your pictures on Flickr when I was looking for inspiration for my own minifig-scale of Hogwarts. The library is one of the places I am looking forward to building most! Does your Viaduct Entrance open of give access to the interiors easily? @shadefoundry Such a perfect way to tie in those sections! Would you mind sharing a photo of the back side of the Quad Entrance? I'm wondering if there's anything on that second level and what it looks like from that angle. Seriously, it looks like it goes with the original sets perfectly!

@chris6507 Thanks so much for posting those! I've decided I'm going to Bricklink a lot of the new set since I have the old Diagon Alley but couldn't remember what was on the sticker sheets. You saved me the trouble of finding them!

Wow, that made such a huge difference! I've already taken several of your builds as my inspiration for my Hogwarts, and now I'm going to be doing that with Diagon Alley too. Seriously, it looks SO much better - everything looks so much more balanced.

    Harry Potter 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I'm definitely most excited about Flourish & Blotts! I might switch out the color of QQS - in the theme park, only the bottom is red/pink (sand red would have been great!) and the top is grey, so I think that would match the sensibilities a bit better :)
