LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 19 Rumors, Speculation and Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Excuse me, but of which other animal mould do we know? I hope for a Bavarian child fitting to Lederhosen Guy and Dirndl Girl. The Dachshound ist THE stereotypical dog from Bavaria. I don't know any generic figure that would fit better to this breed. It could give me the very needed short legs in Lederhosen colour für my custom Simpsons Üter and make it more likely to get more kids for existing pairs of minifigures. I'd really love a little son for my caveman for example :) -
LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thank you :) To be honest i hope for an animal. I understand people wanting him aa a mascot for their theme park displays, but i am just into the comics.^^' i guess if its an animal at best we can hope for a mould like santas little helper from Simpsons 2. A turnable head would mean 2 new moulds and i doubt Lego would give us 3 (or even 4 if Goofys hat is separate) that specific ones for one set :/- 961 replies

Thoughts on Non-Lego Components/Accessories i.e. BrickWarriors
Gorilla94 replied to Rockstaremcee's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I am a minifigure fan not one of the company. So i see custom parts and prints just like Lego pieces. On both sides there are poorly done pieces and some little pieces of art. I use them together with own prints, painting, cutting and gluing. In my opinion the perfect figure represents something i love the best way possible while still looking as cute as it can. Some things i love: Brickforges simplified but still recognizable Lord of the Ring Parts: Narsil (Aragorn's Sword, which was even in the videogame but never released physically), Gandalfs staff and Sword Glamdring, Viking Helmet and so on. Brickwarriors Gladiator Gear (you can make one of the best historical minifigs ever by combining the Galea and net with the poorly done official Retiarius from the minifigure series). Painting Ork hairpiece ears in Different colors so you can get some Variation in your Mordor Army with all kinds of grey, red, green and many other kinds of orcs. Using capes with fluffy fur for Thorin and Fili so you can't see the stupid distance between their hairpiece and the Torso resulting from the reuse of Kilis hairpiece for figures without quiver... What was Lego thinking?! Cutting off Dumpledore's hair and glue it to Gandalfs hat to make him look like he should have been in the beginning. In short words: mild customizations to make a figure a much better but still official looking playable toy not a fragile display model that you can easily identify as a custom. What i don't like is on a subjektive level too detailed accessory, WWII and modern military stuff as well as all kinds of gore. It feels just wrong to me to include such things in a cute simplified toy world. But that's just my opinion. I am aware that it could seem like a double standard and it's of course strongly influenced by cultural background. -
I really like Scooby, but i highly doubt anything with him will be released the next years to be honest. It's a quite popular theme in english speaking countries but outside from there not that big. You can mumble the "na na na na na na na" in the subway and your chances are good someone behind you says "Batman". Same for the Potter- or Star Wars-Themes and even the soundtrack of the Peter Jackson Middle Earth films. That wont happen in most parts of Europe with the Scooby Doo-melody. That makes an global evergreen theme nearly impossible. The big central thing about Scooby is the Mystery Maschine and the gang. Most people got the castle and Mystery Maschine Set and were happy without desire for more. This is also not the basis the other evergreen themes or most successfull smaller lines have with much needed expansions (just think about how many iconic sceenes from the first Potter film are missing alone) and army building potential. Lego had low expectations and made all the Scooby sets store exklusive for example in Germany, cause they did not believe in a big success. It didn't even have a chance to prove it's small but existing fanbase. I can't see where enough new trust into the licence should come from if it was that little until now. A Hannah Barbara Cmf could maybe include Scooby and Shaggy. Including Velma would make people who bought the castle because of her stop doing something like that in the future. Many new villans would be boring for those, who didn't get the old sets with the gang and Lego cares mostky about new customers. One group will be dissapointed for sure. So i wouldn't expect much even if such a cmf happens. And there is also enough potential for Harry Potter 2, Disney 3, Looney Toons and many more with probably larger fanbase. The one big argument i see for a comeback of Scooby is, that boys and girls like them both. That helps the Potter Sets very much in sales (no generalisation by me. Every seller i know says that). I'd also say Playmobils sets will have an big influence. Playmobil isn't a building toy, but with all the special parts and colours many kids don't use/see Lego as one, too. The competition is definitely there. If there was a set my bet yould be on a Ucs Creator-VW-Bully sized Mystery Maschine.

I know. That's the reason i didn't buy Jack and Sally ^^' That and the open shown Stud on his head. Lego should introduce a hailress hairpiece. From Lord Voldemord, Lobot from Star Wars to Dwalin and lots of super heroes this piece would be usefull for so many themes.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion

I don't know, what to say :( Saw Goofy... this is terrible. Please tell me this figure is a cheap chineese knockoff and not a real Lego leak... His head is so completely out of scale. Reminds me of Funko Pop figures to some degree... His Legs seem so short (because of the expected size difference to Donald etc. and his huge head ) i asked myself if Lego used medium ones... I guess i need to erase the Print from Woodys legs, customprint a Torso and use Woodys yellow arms. The colour is inaccurate but still better than this...- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
Does anyone have a not misprinted Scrooge? :/ Bought 6 and every single one of them has a big white space between the blue eyes and the orange beak. Same for the one of a buddy from another country and the one in whitefang's review. In the official pictures there is no such error and you can see in any drawing that it's wrong. Combined with the wrong scale of the much too small hat Scrooge is probably the most poorly done figure of the wave :/ Probably i'll try to decapitate an actionfigure and use it's head instead :( I am dissapointed with the Series. Chip and Dale are gorgeous. The 3 nephews are great even if i had to buy a bunch of them and return 90% of them to the store until i got all of them with eye painting in the right spot and without big scratches in the Torso. Anna, Elsa, Jasmine, and Jaffar are nicely done (even if i am extremely annoyed by the new skirtpiece, which looks stupid in a display where (all) other figures use the old one. Jack and Sally should have been done with the old Woody arms and legs. Again Lego should have introduced a small hair piece without hair to hide the stud of figures without hair. Would be insanely usefull for every licence from Superheroes, Middle Earth to Harry Potter... Hades is so unbelievable bad... the lower body piece is great, the torso "ok", but the face doesn't represents him at all and ruins the figure... it is also glued to the hair, so that i can't fix it with custom painting, and on top of that mine is glued in the wrong position. Hercules should have gotten a new upper body mould like Mr. Icredible. I might be alone with this but in my opinion you should do something right or don't start at all. Frozone should have been in the Incredibles Sets not the cmf. We have 2 Figures of Edna now - as weil as 2 different Duplo Goofys - but no Goofy minifigure... Micey and Minnie are pointless with the steampoat Willie Set in stores. it feels cheep. 4€ is acceptable to a certain degree if the figure is good enough but if the same figure with slightly colour changes is reused at the same time, it makes the "costs of new moulds" argument ridiculous. It also makes me angry, that there is no goat and guitar included if they can reuse even figure prints. They should have redone the normal Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy with medium sized legs to make them represent the Characters better. That would have been better than what we got :/- 961 replies

Cool :D Mee, too.^^ I can agree to all of this. I'd wish the sets were at least done a few years later with that many moulds, Dual moulding for arms and legs and armprinting used for tlbm and Harry Potter or earlier so there wouldn't be so many stickers? At least i am able to complete the collection by myself combining custom parts, own customisation (cutting, gluing, painting and printig) and pieces from other licences. The Harry Potter licence with all these accessory and Hair pieces is to me the second best Lego could produce after original Lotr sets ?

Thank you! :) Sound's good... I hope the theme will give us in total black, tan, dark tan, reddish and dark brown, light and dark bluish gray, so it's possible to swap the middle earth dwarf's legs. This way they are smaller than humanes but bigger than Hobbits like in the books :) if I am correct we still need tan, light bluish gray and maybe a brown depending on wich brown Ron's legs are.
-
I am not that sure, if this is of topic, but what colours do we know the mid sized legs will appear in this year? I guess besides Chip and Dale (medium dark Flash and reddish brown) from the Disney cmf we will see these legs only in HP sets this year. Already saw a leaked figure of Harry with dark bluish gray legs in the usual place.

1. ) Minifigures are a great collector item. - everyone loves Lego because of their childhood. That's a big bonus most other merchandise producers don't have. - the cartoonish style is adorable and speaks for itself. - It is cute and simplified. So it fills the gap between picturing a character in a natural way (I would not want a statue of a naturalistic Medusa for example) and very abstract versions like funkopop figures, which many people including me don't like. There is not many competition in this particular space between both. That way you don't have much choice, if you want to be able to you put a Scooby Doo figure next to Gimli while it still looks fitting and represents the characters well. - Because everything is cute (even Orcs, Sauron's Mouth or Davy Jones) the tolerance of a potential girlfriend or wife is much higher, too. I don't say it is a reason to collect in the beginning but because of that many people would not buy for example film swords and have more money to spend on a 30€ Merry from the Lord of the Rings (got mine for 10€. They aren't that expensive if you are patient and not buying everything from the first seller on ebay). - the scale is allways the same. Many people (myself included) don't like the size differences between collector statues. - You can fix it easily, if you don't like anything about the figure. I put a lot of work in my custom printed parts, own and 3rd party custom parts and stuff. It is a great hobby by itself. I could not do that stuff to most statues or action figures like that. - With a plate you have everything good from two worlds. The stability of a solid statue with a base and the possibility to position them like actionfigures. Great for stop motion or to display them in a funny way (for example fly monster from CMF series 14 trying to steal bumble bei girls honey pot like on my display) - the size allows even students like me with little space to put a fellowship of the ring in their little display. => to me they are perfect as a collector item and a hobby by itself especially if you are open to customisation. The cmfs and many sets are priced that way and left the cathegory of a kid's toy long ago. I don't say, thats good or bad. It is a fact. Personally i am buying figures or vehicles from sets separate, if I have no use for 95% of the stuff. It is better to pay 12€ for Firefly with his Jetpack than 40€ for a whole set with 2 other characters I own better versions of already and 2 mechs I would not want for free and can't have in my room. I buy much less figures and bricks than most people here but if I really love something (like Poison Ivy, Bane or the Riddler with his stick from the tlbm sets or now the new head and headgear of Catwoman to upgrade my figure of her) i will get it. I am happy that way and spend probably much less money than normal set buyers without loosing anything I care about or having boxes full of highly special parts in strange colours, I will never use. If you are really into it, you can put at least that much time on a custom figure like on a MOC. My building activity is centered around the figures. I try to get the best Batmobil for the one Batman i have. I build on a Moes Tavern fitting the figures and other buildings. That brings me to the second part of my comment. 2.) Relevance for children's role playing Of course Lego is a construction/ building toy. But the big lesson from Lego's problems in the 90s was "we need to put stories into our bricks". The role-playing aspect is essential - maybe not for all but really many if not most children. As a kid i spent hours with building tempels with traps to explore them with Johnny Thunder. I probably spent more time building than role-playing, but if I had no explorer minifigure I would have had no reason to build the temple in the first place besides looking at it for a few minutes and than putting the bricks back in the box. The cool thing was the ability to build worlds to play in them with your figures. If there were no minifigures, you could forget about most themes targeted at kids except speed racer cars and the creator sets, which are animals, robots and vehicles... and i guarantee, even these would loose many customers, which are implementing these sets without figures into their world for minifigures from other sets. I would say: Minifigures are not overrated. Some are overpriced for a toy, but certain sets like the 400€-Hogwards Castle or the cmfs are clearly no toys anymore so I would separate these from regular city sets..

Same here... I also don´t like the Chosen design. I am thinking about doing a custom one now. It doesn´t require own moulded pieces, so it shoud be quite easy. I am sorry to be off topic, but could anyone tell me if the torso of Cyborg has the same siver colour as tin man from the tlm2-CMF? ^^´ Brickink doesn´t say something about that and the photos don´t really help.^^´ -
LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
It depends on how Lego does it. I don't want another version of Mickey or Minnie, Donald, Daisy etc. (besides medium legged versions but then Scrooge would need a remake, too). If they do just new characters i'd be happy with a whole series of these figures. While i completely agree with you, that there are lots of characters left for a 3rd series, I don't think many of your desired characters would be included :/ Meg and Phil won't happen :/ they are not that important (even if i would love them beeing made most from all the missing classic film-characters). Malificent is that popular for a big part because of her many appearances in Kingdom Hearts so i also doubt Aurora. I could imagine Hunchbag and Frollo or Esmeralda, Snow White and the evil Queen, Mulan and Shan Yu in the next wave. Pochahontas seems quite unlikely, too, if I see all the people in youtube complaining about the movie beeing politically incorrect. I also don't think the evil guy from that movie would is very popular and John Smith would be a very boring figure, which could be easily done with existing pieces and prints. I could see them doing Belle, Beast and Gaston .- 961 replies

I will get Catwoman's head and headgear and 4 of these gorgeous printed Pieces to upgrade my Batmobil from Jokerland via bricklink. Without any new batman villan it is a really poor wave in my opinion. The last one had at least Firefly :/ -
Thank you :/ That's sad.

I honestly don't understand even the expectation of "only" the original 21 characters. It was a big decision to do all 13 Dwarfs from "the hobbit" and at least all members of the fellowship of the ring. We never got Eowyn, Faramir, the Witchking, Sauron, Thrain, Thror or a Balrog - just to name a few very important characters. Simpsons doesn't have Lenny, Carl, Skinner and many more who would have been appropriate unlike Moe and Barney. Look how many SW and HP-Characters are missing. Lego never cared about completion for collectors. Lego will produce OW play sets as long as they sell well. I can't see a OW cmf happen. A Cmf would be a wasted oportunity for Lego. Lego only does 3 serieses per year. One regular one, two licenced. At least one of them was always filled with a lego movie the last years and as far as i know a new one called "Billion brick race" is going to be released next year or did i miss something? If Lego could make a second Harry Potter series, a third Disney, Looney Toons or so many other (just speaking about the number of fans who will likely buy everything they can get) stronger licences i highly doubt Overwatch will be chosen. One other big argument for my assumption is that Overwatch is great to do play sets while many other licences are not. The sweet mechs will also interest Kids who don't play the game. Which Sets could you do for example with Looney Toons except maybe the Road Runner with a picture of a road printed on a panel to run against it? Same for Hans Moleman, Patty and Selma, the characters from nightmare before christmas or chip&chap.

I thought about building a Money Bin Moc for a long time (but decided to do a playset style Moe's Tavern instead). You can print a bunch of big panels (lego would of course ist cheap stickers) to make the room look much bigger and use something like the gold pile in the Smaug-Set for Scrooge sinking in at a few pots. Lego would never fill a lot of open space with loose bricks. The only Time something slightly comparable happened was the Ideas ship in the bottle and that was a closed space in a display model where you don't loose about 100 prices per day playing with it... If Lego would do it really filled with loose coins(what i can't imagine under any circumstances) they for sure wouldn't use crome prices. You could expect unprinted 1x1-roundtiles in yellow or Pearl Gold at best and that would look terrible.- 961 replies

LEGO Disney Minifigures & D2Cs - Rumors and Discussion
Gorilla94 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Licensed
I am a bit dissapointed. The missing Goofy is a bad joke. I don´t even care about Pluto not beeing inclued, because i would not buy a bipedal version and a design like Scooby doo wouln´t be realeased as an accessory. I don´t like the black and White design of Mickey and Minnie at all and they completely unnecessary in the Cmf after beeing in the ideas set in the nearly exact same version. Thinking about their headgear already beeing reused the accessory seams even worse than it is. I do not unerstand why Edna is inclued after beeing released in a polybag a short time ago and Frozone should already have been in the sets. The two spots could have been filled for example with Goofy and Pete... or Woody with printed long arms and legs... or one of the Beagle Boys, Magica De Spell... there woul have been uncountable more better possibilities. Many characters aren´t represented very well. Hades looks really bad with his face and the flames are a poor choice. Either Jafars face is printed to small and low placed on the head or the edge of his hat is much to high, because his forehead wasn´t that gigantic. Hercules´ upper body looks much too slim and would have either required a muscular mould like Mr. Indreible already needed or at least a smaller and lower placed print for the belt to make his upper boody look at least a little bigger. Besides that Herc´s hair mould isn´t as perfect as it could be and i can´t remember about him having a shield. The two guys from Nightmare before Cristmas would have really needed Woody´s long legs and arms. Anna misses a bit of grey print on her hairpiece. I think some moulds were not the best choice. Two minifigures without hair in just this series should be enough reason to finally introduce a little piece to let the stud dissapear. It could be reused for really every licence from Dwalin in "the Hobbit", "Super heroes"-figures like deadpool, deathstroke, deadshot and many more to Pirates of the Carribean, where some figures didn´t have a hairpiece. Instead we get this flower, the ice Crystal Elsa is holding and some hairpieces really similar to alreay existing ones... Jasmine looks perfect. Like Arielle her accessory isn´t that great, but i wasn´t expecting anything anymore at this point so a random little bird is a nice surprise. Like i expected the ducks and chipmunks - classic cartoon characters done with specific head moulds like the Simpsons Series was - are incredible. I love every one of them and will get them.- 961 replies
