    DC Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=19303&idColor=77#T=C&C=77 It needs a custom headprint with Black teeth to make it a skull.

Oh, sorry^^' I wasn't sure about that. Never understood the "I only collect official purist figures"-thing. I only prefer official ones because making my customs is an insane amount of work so that I only make them when I give up hope on Lego delivering missing characters... ^^' If it was more about the ability to do customs on a official quality level, this custom figure would be great for beginners.

Cmf Jokers suit, the weird pearl dark grey mask from an alien space theme and a custom printed head making a skull with teeth out of this mask should work well.
  4. The knight really is a great figure. His Torso and legs combined with different Brickwarriors helmets is going to be my castles royal guard :) On top of that the sword mould is gorgeous and perfect for Boromir from lotr, if you cut of the round thing at the end of the sword and glue a more fitting end from a custom weapon on it :)
  5. Changing licences to flesh colours was the beginning of my dark ages, because the prisoner of Askaban flesh figures would have looked stupid next to my cartoonish yellow ones from book 1 and 2. If it wasn't changed i'd probably have bought Lego for a few years more... I doubt it would have a positive effect in the short term... at best it would be neutral in the long term sales.

To be honest I'd pur him quite low on my list, because he is just in the intro and would require at least 3 Moulds (helmet, shoulder armor and Mace) as well as a reuse of the old toy story limbs ... which doesn't mean i wouldn't like to get him

Hehe... just recognised they are named different in German :) Thought this was only the case with Dagobert/Scrooge McDuck and some other Disney ones.^^' Thanks for the clarification :) ... I think you can't get too much or even just enough different orcs. There is no clone in my little horde... even the 6 elite ones wearing Uruk hai armor have different facial expressions and skin colours.^^' A Middle Earth line has potential. The Dwarfs would be so much better with printed medium sized legs and a few prints on their already existing beard pieces (like Gloin or Nori). Boromir needs Dual moulded arms so badly... a few other characters like Thorin would benefits from dual moulding extremely, too. the few missing Characters like Eowyn, Witchking or Thror and Thrain don't require many new moulds. Eowyn with a armoured Torso showing no female outlines would be easily as popular as the Cmf20's Viking.

Oh, I forgot Tom and Jerry I agree. Would have been a great pack much more interesting than for example the 2016 Ghostbusters :/ I´d love Asterix. I know so many teachers that would buy sets from such a line for making photo montages as a introuction for latin classes... and an insane amount of parents boykotting Scifi-Mechs and tanks, who would buy Asterix for their children day one. Comic fans would buy them, history nerds would army build the roman legions and fantasy/castle fans would be interested in the village sets and civilian torso and leg pieces... With the large beards Asterix would be one of the few comics that work without moulded heads. You could just give the figures the existing moustache piece, introduce a second slightly different beard (for example for Automatix), a special one for Miraculix and a few new helmet pieces and it would work. I am sorry, but English isn´t my first language. What does "had a good run" mean exactly? I know the Hobbit line wasn´t very successfull... In my opinion the problem was (besides the unpopular third film) that the sets were mostly really bad... especially the laketown sets and the battle of the 5 minifigures :/ An iron hill dwarfs battle pack or the entrance to Erebor with a few dwarfs defending it against the orcs (in armor, not the ugly version without even hairpiece) would pretty sure sell well.

Disney- not as costumed humans but real Comic characters with medium legs for the adult ducks and mice. A big money bin, a small 313-car... something with Goofy including long arms and legs and especially Pluto as animal like Scooby Doo was done and not as a costumed guy. Garfield - one small set with Odie and Garfield using moulded heads. Looney toons cmf. Simpsons as a real theme with smaller playsets reusing the moulded heads and introducing the handfull of missing ones. Any fantasy theme delivering orcs and dwarfs. Wow, Warhammer, Dwarfs, ... i dont care about the title in the box.

Why Ancient Rome never became an official theme?

There was no historical human vs. human-playtheme with existing fractions (and one of them being clearly the evil ones). Desert expedition was about a scientist, a journalist and an adventurer with evil treasure hunters as enemies and depicted nothing from ancient Egypt but graves and loose inspired temple ruins. Surely something like that would work well with Roman ruins, too, but that isn't what you want or am i wrong? With the second adventurers theme including maschineguns and so on they completely went the fantasy way with undead monsters chasing the heroes, which won't work with Romans because there isn't the generic mummy Pop culture horror stuff. Lego Playthemes are always good vs. bad. There isn't much of that in history and even then you are on thin ice with depicting it that way. Lego made vikings a fantasy theme with horned helmets and fighting evil dragons and werewolfs. They are clearly pop culture vikings, not historically accurate ones. That works. I could imagine them do this with Greek mythological creatures and generic hoplits, too (and honestly hope they will do one day). Roman Legions were just an army. There are no myths about a handfull of roman soldiers making a journey like the hoplits around Jason and the Argo. There is no other pop culture Image about them fighting monters. Who would be the "barbarians", which only means "those with the strange language"? The design will tell who they are depicting or at least from wich enemy the Designer took inspiration. Hannibal could maybe be used as a villain without offending too many people with Carthago being completely erased after the Punic wars, but Lego would never put a war elefant on shelves in a time when animal rights are such a hot topic... Vercingetorix, who is still a national hero in France, used as a cartoonish villain with a face like the series 15-evil knight could trigger some negative reactions, too. Or will we just stay with fictional halfnaked savages from Germania, a country and culture completely invented by Ceasar? I am only proud about who I became by my own work. My nationality really couldn't mean less to me and i'd in fact be happy with every usefull Castle print or accessory we get from such a line. But there are enough people that think very different about that and I can't imagine Lego taking that risk of offending them, if there are other potential themes to make sets. No. The cmf offers potential for every character depicting a certain group of people being a good guy. There is no bloodthirsty looking savage Eagle Warrior in series 7 and no plundering greedy Spanish Conquistador with angry face in series 8. In a playtheme one side would have to be evil. Thats the difference. To make it more specific: why don't we have a butcher like from series 6 in City sets? Because of that stuff like a realistic Viking will stay a cmf or just appear in a museum city set.

Why Ancient Rome never became an official theme?

I think Beleg is right with the real-life aspect. Castle works as a fantasy world. There are pesants, but it is fine for everyone to stay with the well established romantic fantasy picture of happy ordinary people defended by honorfull knights (of wich some are even females) and ruled by a righteous king who leads them into battle against dragons or evil knights. There is no problem as long as they aren't depicting a real kingdom from history... It isn't possible to do such sets with Romans. They were real. Slavery, their few on human rights, sexuality, women, religion... i think "City sets" in an ancient Roman world would produce touble for Lego one way or another. Some will say rewriting history is bad, if they make it a Skyrim-like fantasy empire without slaves and with female soldiers, some will complain about the bad rolemodels, if they keep it at least mildly accurate to reality. If the theme was more about military like castle there would be the question who they would fight. Which real nation would be the villains? I am 100% sure we will see more ancient Cmfs. They have so much potential. But i doubt there will ever be sets.
  12. God, I love that tree with teeth. Reminds me very much of Marcus Heitz' "Dwarfes"-Books, when the land turns evil :) the cactus is the perfect combination of creepy and funny :'D

Love that, too. Can anyone say if it is a cloth Material or mould? I am going to bricklink it. Can anyone tell which blue nightwing uses? I'd like to give him sinestros printed arms. Harley is pretty but i own a better version. The rest is quite dissapointing :/ i don't get why Bronze Tiger was chosen and on top of that he looks insanely bland. the fact we are getting a bat-Truck and still don't have a single proper Wayne manor, gcpd, clock tower and so much more hurts

THE PIRATE BAY IS GOING TO BE AN OFFICIAL LEGO SET!!!!

Oh, man... that monkey mould is even more adorable than the original one Getting none is now even more frustrating if the Ninjago one had at least not that stupid metallic colour in the body, i could bricklink it and switch arms... But monkeys are popular... i think there are chances we will see another one in the future. At least i am used to it by now. Lego never released a flawless set, that didn't have to be improved except maybe the Parisian Restaurant and Wall-E after the update. It is going to be annoying to get sails with prints on both sides. At this point I am used to custom print stuff that is done by stickers and even making own custom accessoires... I really hoped Lego wouldn't find new challenges anymore :/

    [MOC] Barbershop

Wow. Just wow. Does it have interieur inside?
  17. Please stop writing such things... someone working in the company could read it...
  18. I agree with you that this is a usefull piece but it could have been also used for example in a good "player 2"-gamergirl including the Streamer-guys-controller. Then it would lhave looked a bit more like a 4€-cmf and a bunch of people want a girlfriend for series 12 gamer guy... the best thing would be that we would have a free spot for a historical figure like Leonardo da Vinci, a greek philosopher, Roman nobel lady or Marie Antonette... I'd also love to get a well made Einstein...
  19. Brickwarriors mask and hat in the series 17 higway man and you have a great one ;)
  20. I think that depends on how you define lazy or wasted spot. To me roller scater girl or series 19 mountain biker, Robot Programmer and Firefighter are completely wasted spots because they should have been in regular city sets just like that. The cmf moulding budget should be used for special stuff. A new helm/hat-hair Combo for female City figures should be in the City budget. The female Police officer got her hat/hair-combo from that budget back then, too. Cmfs are in my opinion there to give us stuff like the myrmillo- or viking-Helmet or Suit headgears and tailpieces... special music Instruments and so on. Things you would not produce anyways in that year. The HP series introduced as far as i can tell every new piece in the HP licence. With that and all the used stickers the sets should be even cheaper. I agree on that... Metamorpho If you mean Simpsons 2 I can say "me". I love the Simpsons. Of course the family outfits were not the best choice. Of course there were stupid choices like including Fallout Boy but not Skinner. Still we got great representations of many popular characters and the fact that the Simpsons are yellow makes them even usefull for people who dont like them. The hairy arms of Willie are easily one of my favourite parts of that year. In general there were tons of cool dual moulded arms and tripple moulded short legs. If we see how unique the moulded heads were the value seems to be much higher than for example with HP, where every single new mould was reused in other sets.

    [MOC] The Bear's Fortress

Looks very pretty :) could you please tell me how you made the wooden triangle structure? That looks stunning.
  22. Disney had definitely the potential for 4 waves or more, but i can´t imagine this happen after the selection Lego did until now. Nobody wants Wendy without Peter Pan, Lilo without Stich... Phil and Meg without Hercules... This way they made so many potential figures impossible that I can´t imagine how a 4th series should be filled. I think that will be the case, if Lego gets the licence... and i am also sure, that it will be done with about that interesting figures like the ones you described... Cool characters with printed arms and so on are the main selling point for terrible stuff like cloud city. I can´t imagine lego giving us Jango Fett with printed arms or stuff like that for 4€ separately. Sadly it looks that way. Regular figures don´t sell as good as before since the ridiculous price explosion. Giving cmfs incredible popular licences seems to compensate that at least a bit.

Of course they sell. Red letter media put it in words very well: Lucas is more a salesman than a movie maker. The prequel trilogy was all about extra profit after the OT´s success. Every single ship or character design was made to sell action figures and models while he cared little about the movies from a story perspective. Even as a child I saw a difference to the OT. The PT had a boring story, which worked just for bringing you from one stunning aesthetics and some cool action scenes to the next. I didn´t watch them very often, but loved the toys and read a lot of books that had better stories in this world. The ST has the same aesthetics and great action scenes in terms of special effects but with it´s extreme plot holes and inconsistencies I wasn´t able to enjoy it even a bit when i saw them. The question is what a true fan is. I guess if you are just interested in cool spacebattles and making out with your girlfriend or checking your whatsapp messages in the dialogue sceenes you´ll probably enjoy all the movies just the same. This. Giving Vader a castle is cool. He is a bad guy and villains need their fortress or hideout. You can combine it with Kylo Ren´s black shuttle and use Kylo and the Knights of Ren as his unnamed hench men. Works well for child´s play. When I was a child Vader and Maul worked together to conquer my room, too. It´s not like children would just play the accurate story of the films again and again.

New LotR action figures make me hopeful for Lego

Sure. The successfull Battlepacks ... A) ... include generic characters for army builders who buy dozens of them (like the one with 4 generic clones that had a walker even usefull if you get multibles of it) or B) ... have such great figures that many people want them (new mandalorian battlepack) If you want an Uruk-hai army that outnumbers your Rohan soldiers and runs against your Helm's deep like the sea, it isn't very usefull to get extra Rohirim and a large piece of extra wall with each additional Uruk... that concept was stupid and it didnd't help that it was on top overpriced for what you get. On top of that Rohirim are terrible for army building in general. Each one looks different. It doesn't work like clone troopers. On top of that one of the two is Eomer, a named character... If there were 4 completely different ones with parts you can all combine well to make completely different looking ones (maybe even with different printed viking helmets like in series 20 that can be combined with other beards), than a Rohan battlepack would have real potential. Gondor soldiers on the other hand wear uniforms. Give them 4 different faces and maybe 2 facial expressions and it will sell well. Faramir should be included in a Minas Tirith set.
