    [MOC/INSTRUCTION] ISD Monarch

Hi Onecase, quick question about moving this model around. Is it modular and can you detach modules to make it lighter and easier to move? I would need to move the build each night to a different room from the one I build in (to keep it away from my kids) and once complete transport it out to my garage/Lego room, which may involve turning it on it’s side as I carry it as the pathway to the garage is only 73cm wide (walls on both sides).

Just curious, could the current Aggressor engines be replaced with the Death Star halves? I’ve not seen your ISD instructions yet so I don’t know how yours are built but I can see they are brick built rather that one piece. I don’t know if the scale is off though if connecting the domes were possible.

But it is. I mean, you only have to look at them side by side to see they look practically identical. It doesn’t take much effort. I’m not disputing he can create wonderful original creations of his own, just disputing that this is one of them. And you need to be acting wilfully blind not to see it. But anyway, it’s just my opinion. And it’s still a nice looking X wing.

Well, maybe. But Jerac managed to build a new X wing at this scale. And to be honest, yours looks like a very lightly modded version of his moc, as did the tie fighter. Personally, I think you should credit him, but what do I know? I’m sure you put a lot of work into it and this style of x wing is a really nice looking one.

Looks like you borrowed quite a lot of ideas from Jeracs X wing moc. Looks very similar actually.

Thanks. Am I right in thinking you are creating the build instructions for the Monarch?

There were quite a few 9676 sets on eBay when I looked a couple of days ago. In fact someone was selling 2 complete Death Stars taken from two of these sets for £10.99 for both, free shipping. So I bought them as I’m planning to build the Monarch too.

Cool! There are single Death stars from that set on eBay still for about £9 odd so should be do-able. I can see 3 halves making up the visible engines but where are the other 3 halves used (and on the Monarch, I presume they're in the same place?) Are they hidden behind the main exterior engine housing and connected in some way? edit: hang on, scrub this. I just realised you mean 6 if i wanted to do BOTH builds. Phew, wish I had the space and money for both. One giant SD build per decade I think or I'll end up divorced, starving and sleeping on a lego star destroyer ;) I had to weigh up potential costs here and its 11,000 vs 19,000 pieces. Yours is a serious beauty though.

Ebay. I just bought 2 complete death stars (top and bottom halves, each taken from 2 set 9676's) on ebay for £10.99, free shipping. I should say though that I plan to use them for onecases Monarch as it looks like that uses the same pieces. So if it turns out I'm wrong once the instructions are available for that build I'll be selling them.

I wondered if this would appear here. I actually saw it on Rebrickable last night and couldn’t quite believe what I was looking at. I just watched your YouTube video, which, as a burgeoning Lego SD obsessive (I just built a midi scale SD moc) I found absolutely fascinating. I’m stunned at the work you’ve put in here, not just with the attention to detail on the model itself but with the instructions and the insight into the building process (a rare thing to see from moc builders at your level). If I ever actually find enough space to store this (and money to pay for it) I’ll build this in a heartbeat. Or,.. several months of heartbeats.
  11. Hi all, This is my new Midi Scale Star Destroyer MOC. Its made of approx 1,600 pieces and is 45cm (56 studs long). I basically built it by buying up a whole load of parts and starting to build with just a ton of Star Destroyer pictures to use as reference (Lego, CG and movie shots) Took me about 2.5 months to design and build it and it threw up a lot of challenges on the way that I was determined to try and find a way to solve. It seemed that every time I figured out a solution to one issue, it created a problem elsewhere on the build. Got pretty frustrating at times when I couldn't get those hull plates to angle properly but I figured it out in the end which has turned out to be extremely satisfying. I'd say I got a bigger buzz from building this than from any official Lego build I've ever done. For those interested the full album is here (it also has a fully modelled underside with both hangars in): https://www.flickr.com/photos/164260086@N06/albums/72157707430587464

Thanks, :) that’s nice to hear given that it’s my first ship MOC. Prior to this I’ve only built scene MOC’s.

Good god! Just...... speechless. I think after the Chimeara this has to be the most beautiful SD moc I’ve ever seen. I was about to build the Aggressor, I think I may wait for your instructions instead. Just incredible. Thank god you posted this a day after my midi scale SD Moc, mine looks like a duplo toy compared to this!

[MOC] Midi-Scale Mark II Imperial Star Destroyer

Two answers to this really, 1. Unfortnately no, if I could I would,... in that, if I had the ability to build it worthy of instructions I would have as I’d love to be able to make something others could make too but... 2. To be honest you wouldn’t enjoy the particular way I built this as it’s very much a display model and doesn’t follow easy step by step procedures. I’ve no doubt some of the expert builders such as Jerac or Raskolnikov could have come up with far better ways to achieve what I’ve done here. In fact Jerac gave me some late advice about proportions which prompted me to take another look at some of mine. I built it purely from my head and really wanted to figure it all out on my own. I’m a pretty inexperienced builder so that led to some quite stressful periods during the build when I was convinced I wouldn’t be able to finish it, but the buzz was well worth it. Sorry, that’s a long winded way of saying ‘No, sorry’ isn’t it? ;) maybe next time I’ll teach myself how to use Studio so I can make something for others.

    Building Episode IV in LEGO

Yep. Don’t stop doing this. These are amazing! Beautifully shot as well!
  18. Absolutely gorgeous. I’m in the middle of making a midi scale star destroyer moc so I know how challenging these ships can be just at that small scale!. This is phenomenal work! Love it!
  19. Hah. Yeah. I've done a couple more mocs since then so got a bit more experience. If I were to do this again now I'd make much more of the macabre side of it. Would be quite a tiny Wampa if there were! Snow trooper probably got blown to pieces by the snow speeder as it went past him. His comrades don't seem to care though. Thanks very much :)
  20. I built this a couple of months ago after making Raskolnikov’s awesome Plus size AT AT and wanting to do something with it cooler than just putting it on a shelf to gather dust. Ashamedly there are a couple of 1x2 knock off white plates in the base as I ran out of pieces and couldn’t BrickLink such a tiny amount so raided an old box that had all sorts of brands in. It’s 99.9% Lego apart from those damn plates though. I’ll probably come up with a better solution for a flying ship than that big ugly stand the next time I do something like this too. It was only my first moc. But anyway, the full album for it is on my flickr page here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/164260086@N06/albums/72157700628270101
  21. No, it’s a very famous moc (sec) by Raskolnikov called the Plus size At-At (as I mention at the start of my post) You can find instructions for it on Rebrickable. It’s also a brilliant build and the instructions are free. :)
  22. Thanks. It’s not going to set the moc world on fire but it was only intended initially to be a decorative base for the AT AT which then kind of grew into a bigger moc.
  23. Morning all, first time here so I thought I'd share a moc I completed a few days ago. I recently built Jerac's beautiful Tie Advanced and wanted to store it somewhere better than randomly on the shelf. So I designed and built a hangar for it. It features a crane boarding arm that can raise so that the ship can enter and leave the hangar, a command centre and an armoury. Its made of about 2,500 pieces and was inspired by a Raymond Swanland illustration called 'Machines of Dominion'. The full album for it is on my Flickr page at: https://www.flickr.com/photos/164260086@N06/albums/72157701453950302/with/46300092392/
