[O10 - Gorse - TT] A New Dawn, for the Empire

Love it! The banners work really well - the design influence from the concept art comes across very well!

    [Q10 - Sneeve - TT] A lesson learned is a lesson earned

I'm pretty sure it was one of the chima lion ones - I had a lots of chima back in the day and it was one of the only heads that matches the ear colour.

    [O7 - Ordo - CE] A meeting of minds

A nice build though I'm not quite sure why Fnab is so upset to be disturbed, he does seem to spend a lot of time on vacation...

I wasn't thinking about big contest builds being pass or fail - that would probably be unfair given how much effort goes into them .There were those mission things for certain players in the last round that worked quite well as pass and fail though.

    Phase 3 Discussion

Absolutely, that seems very reasonable! Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

    Phase 3 Discussion

Hey, just wondered what the policy on cross-posting was. I might not have time to fully commit to the RPG often but would I be allowed to cross post with other competitions etc. I would of course modify the builds enough that they could convincingly fit in a modern military aesthetic and if it would be preferred I could post them here and then in other competitions later. Not a problem if that isn't allowed just would impact how much I could commit.

I think a mix of both is probably good depending on the type of build. For free builds an individual score is probably best - a score that of course reflects quality but also gives beginners a chance to gain a few points and get some feedback. That said, on some of the larger missions, the pass or fail system has worked well to encourage a high level of building.
  12. *Your entry has earned 5 XP* A quick 1 hour build to try out the floor design!
  13. *Your entry has earned 19 XP* Pyerce's secret base : Gorse Iher and Ke'hura Tadalg (a Drabatan gunslinger and one of the initiatives newer recruits) were first to attack. The came along a mountain pass to the west of the facility and began to make for the main entrance. Ke'hura let out a loud war cry as he fired on the unsuspecting technicians, making his way toward the control panel. Grokrut (the son of the Snogar chieftain I had met on Ota) scaled the rock face, making for the platform and eliminating the security. Altisalorn Neloi (a Abyssin who had served under the old empire) made for the lower entrance door, wrenching it open and losing his arm in the process (Abyssin have the rare ability to regenerate limbs which proves particularly useful). With the door opened, I rushed through, clearing the base of hostiles whilst the others captured the Pyerce general who was in charge and freed Triumvirate prisoners being held at the facility. The operation was a massive success, the base was taken with no casualties and minimal damage. The Triumvirs planned to use the facility for our own operations in the region but first all that hideous yellow marking needs removing - if Pyerce wants to stand out, he'd be better to have combat ready soldiers than cover every surface in his awful colour scheme. One of my proudest features in this build is the sliding door: A sliding door was a pretty crazy idea and something of a pain (building rock work around it was a very difficult thing to do). It looks cool but can jam occasionally and I can see why others haven't tried it. I also tried some more advanced platforms Inspiration: Mandalorian Chapter 12: Possibly my favourite of the new season with some great design. I figured nobody would make this scene (or the school [check out my there build on Sneeve]) and while I took a little artistic license, I hope that the influence is clear. This has been a build that has gone through a lot of variations but nothing has been changed more than the facility on top - it wad a pain to get right but the final result was inspired by a mix of the above and the endor bunker. Figures: Farantros,Grokrut (little link back to Sneeve), Altisalorn Neloi, Ke'hura Tadalg (Mandrake head seemed perfect and managed to get my hands on 4 of them), Iher Thanks for getting to the end, I know there were a lot of pictures but this has been a pretty mammoth task: 1.5 months of pretty solid building with most of my collection of greys used and a 34x32x39 final result hopefully should be enough to do even better than my previous best score of 13XP. Special thanks to all the guys over at the Triumvirate who have helped me with a couple of design choices along the way and given me feedback and @RocketBoy whose photography guide has proved really helpful - if you haven't checked it out already then make sure to (this didn't fit in my old lightbox so photography has required some experimentation. Not perfect but a work in progress)! As ever feedback is appreciated.
  14. *Your entry has earned 6 XP* (school is another separate build, to be scored as that build separately) X-3PO: Did you ever hear the Legend of Darth Krampus the Cruel? Class: No! X-3PO: I thought not. It's only a story that is told on Life Day you see. It is a Sith Life Day legend. Darth Krampus was a dark lord of the Sith, so cruel and so sinister that he decided to reward the most evil of children every Life Day... It is said that many years ago, before the republic itself, Darth Krampus first started the tradition, leaving presents in the boots of those sith children who were particularly cruel and mean. For those children he left all sorts of sith toys: from thermal detonators and torture droids to blasters and rotary cannons. But those children who were too meek and kind received the necessary punishment. For them there was not even any Kyber Coal, instead he took them back to his fortress as blood sacrifices for ancient sith rituals. So cruel was Darth Krampus that soon the only children left on the planet were those who would make perfect sith troopers, obedient only to his command. It is said that even now, the force ghost of Darth Krampus will leave presents in the boots of the cruelest children as a reward for those who embrace the true power of the Dark Side. Continuing the tradition from last year, the Triumvirate are back with a series of festive builds, this year we decided to do dark side/imperial traditions and so my part is the telling of festive stories. After seeing the Gotal design the idea of Krampus came to mind and as such here is my retelling of a classic festive legend through the slightly sinister and warped perspective of the sith. I hope that you like it and a happy Life Day to all of you and your families. 2020 has been a great year for building with all of you and here's hoping the year to come will be even better. [One further note, apologies to the CFS, with these builds I should finally be able to take Q10, but I have to say that you guys have really put up a fight - there really have been times when I thought that I wouldn't have much chance of being able to take this sector. In the end, this has been a personal project for me and as such, I really have put my heart and soul into these builds. I hope that in the future, can get on a bit better and put this conflict behind us ( though I will retaliate against any aggressive actions in Q10 ). Regardless, well done to you guys, I know a lot of effort has gone into this sector on both sides.]
  15. *Your entry has earned 8 XP* Enough was enough, the Triumvirate was going to take control of Sneeve once and for all and for that to happen, they needed to show they meant business. That was why they sent in top diplomat Quas Imsa, a pau'an with a ruthless reputation and an unparalleled desire for success. A loyalist from the days of the Old Empire, he was an expert tactician and negotiator and exactly the right person for such a difficult job. Relations with the Sneevels had improved significantly after the Triumvirate agreed to protect them from off world settlers and it was hoped that with a little incentive they would willingly join the Triumvirate. The Triumvirate had a less strict policy to non-humans than the empire before it and the security it brought meant membership was an attractive concept for many outer rim planets. That said, any who were unwilling to comply would be dealt with accordingly... The arrival was grand with the ambassador landing in his custom shuttle and walking with his guard to meet the Sneevel's leader.
  16. *Your entry has earned 4 XP* Mission Log: 20 BBY - Location: Sneeve - Mission Type: Infiltration Clone CT-912 BARC 1 in position - Crossing the wastelands now - looks like something smashed up some clankers here - made a right mess of them - must be some kind of large creature - stay aler-------[muffled screaming] --- [end of transmission]
  17. Thanks, I was pretty happy with the rock work and it was nice to take some of the techniques that I have practiced and put them into a larger MOC. The interiors were nothing special but I wanted to fill out the build a little and give it some more character so I'm glad that stood out. Thanks, I can definitely understand where you are coming from with the rock work. I wanted to avoid any repeating unit and show a range of techniques with it but maybe the balance with consistency wasn't quite right. Personally, my reference images from the nevarro base (see below) had a fair amount of texture variation but large scale rock-work is definitely something that is hard to get right, especially when pieces start running out. The gaps were something that I wasn't totally happy with and I wonder if the angle of the photography made them more noticeable - they aren't quite as evident in real life. I tried with straight walls but it didn't really look right. Definitely something to experiment a bit more with in the future. As for that greebling, that looks a really good recommendation that I will be sure to check out! https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Nevarro_Imperial_base
  18. I would overestimate Fnab's abilities - clearly the vader busts weren't quite the hit he thought they were
  19. Thanks, I really wasn't very inspired and didn't have much time so the window seemed a good option. I agree about the drabatan, the enemy can probably hear him coming for miles!
  20. Not sure I'm really gonna make one I'm afraid, I rarely find time to right decent sections of narrative anyway and the Cat A of this episode really hasn't appealed to me very much. Yeah, the design was something I wanted to try but the dimensions don't really because of size restrictions - the habitat builds really aren't for me. The camera angle doesn't help either but I'd already destroyed the build for parts when I realised.
  21. Definitely your best build of the episode! Reminds me of mandalorian chapter 6!
  22. The stripe is made really well but as Ross says, it would be nice to see what action is going on in the interior!
  23. The wall looks really great with the colour choices and vegetation!
  24. The trees look really good. The rocks look cool but I have to say it isn't immediately obvious that they are meant to be carvings.
