  1. Having built 42128, I can confirm that the part is shown like that in the instructions, but the part included in the box is the same age the original one. Maybe a modified version will come later…
  2. I really love the idea of the downhill one. I wish I knew people IRL that make technic MOCs
  3. Let's go for the mods : I've finally managed to fit a working steering wheel in the cab, without massive modifications. The only visible change is the tan bevel gear that is visible. The steering wheel idea is based on the mack's one. This adds a side functionality, that is the inclination of the steering wheel. Some IRL pictures, to show that it's working : There are a few more pictures in my Bricksafe gallery .
  4. For a one-day build, that's quite impressive. Overall this looks quite close to the original. The front miss a bit the triangular shapes imo, and the curve made by the flex axle are a bit strange. Other than that, it looks cool ! (+1 for keeping the even number of stud, and including 7L large direction system.)
  5. I can totally relate to that, because I had a similar experience. On my last big MOC, while building it, Nico71 commented, saying something like : You should start by the bodywork, and then making the technical aspects inside. At the moment of the comment Felt like this was quite rude, as, to me, it was like saying : "You have a wrong approach to your MOC, that's bad." Now with some time, I understand the comment, and I'm trying to apply it to my new MOC. So yeah, sometimes, a comment from someone you respect/well known in the community can be hard to handle, but most of the time, it's not mean spirited. (I don't want to criticize Nico71, that's just to give an example I hope this doesn't feel like a "revenge/expose post" ) I quite agree with this, and that's also why I usually don't comment on a lot of MOCs, because I feel like it's better to just watch rather than saying something like : "Great MOC" I usually comment when I have a question about a function, or an advice to give. I feel that the same happens on every social media, for example, I'm on instagram, and It's quite hard to find some real MOCs, most of the time I find nice pictures of sets or huge MOCs by well known MOCers.
  6. So I can consider myself lucky to have both Seriously though, if the strength is improved, that's good, because these part are some of the rare parts that I sometimes broke.
  7. While opening the bag 3 of 42128, I've noticed that the same part has some variation : I don't know what is the reason, as they come from the exact same set, and the exact same sub-bag
  8. I've found this set today in a local store and I started building it. The chassis has really a lot of beam stacking. I'm not sure about the benefits of it… Due to the beam stacking, a rear wheel steering will be hard to implement
  9. 12. 8859 Remake : Tractor Studless Original Set : 8859 Link to the Topic : Functions : Rear PTO with clutch gear, linked to the differential Working fake engine Working attachment lift, with ratchet locking Openning hood Working steering wheel Other Features : Two different attachments Akerman geometry Seat adapted for the technic figures. Pictures :
  10. Just a quick question, can we use one of the 4 picture as a gif/animated picture ? Or is it better to make a video to show the function in action ?
  11. Nice review The set looks really above average, that's definitely a technic set. It's probably going to be a great base for mods and upgrade. One thing I'm not sure to have understood is how the stabilizer works. Are they all operated by one gear ?
  12. It's around time to start my building. So I will remake the 8859 tractor. The plan is to keep the functions : Working fake engine (I might add some cylinders, as the original one is a 2 cylinder one) Working rear PTO, with gear clutch safety Working Steering wheel Small turning radius Working attachement lift Differents attachement, at least the one shown in the original model For now, I've rebuilt the orginal chassis (I forgot how these old sets are made… So much parts in one step) I've also started to make the remake chassis. For now, the white clutch gear doesn't fit in the assembly… I have to find a working setup, that stays compact. The main problem is that the dark bluish grey gear can't be replaced with the white one, as the white one touches the differential. And finale a side by side comparison, for now the wheelbase is slightly larger (1 stud on each side) I will have to modify this. The wheels are exactly the same diameter, but they have a totally different pattern. I hope it will look good.
  13. If I was a reviewer I would have done that, but I'm not More seriously, they probably wouldn't work, as with the current wheel, the wheel is close to the chassis, when the wheel are fully steered. (This is here to ensure a small steering radius) If I want to use zeros tires, I would need a 1L large chassis… which is not that rigid. Thanks :)
  14. I think I'm near the end of my project. (For once I will be able to finish in time ) I've remade the second attachment : As in the original one, the thing that goes in the earth (I don't have any idea how they are called) can move a little bit. The spring mechanism has been replaced with the rubber 2l parts : The black pin avoids that the black parts turns around. The two attachement side by side in the spoiler, as I've already shown the first one. I've also made the rear bed : And I've finally made the seat : The seat was inspired by 42054 seat, it allows to place a mining on the seat. It might be possible to place a technic figure in there too. And a side by side comparison : I'm thinking of maybe removing the side panels, as depending the angle, they can look strange… That's all for today. This is also probably the last update post for this MOC.
  15. That's a great alternate, the fact that you kept the licensing is very good, as you say, having that as an official B-model would have be nice. In a way, it makes me think of 42043 B model. As a part is the same in A and B model. The only downside to me is that the bed is a bit to small, imo it should have higher sides. Other than that it's a pretty good MOC
  16. I ordered 4 of them in preorder. Apart from the production delays I'm really satisfied, the motors are extremely powerful and the form factor is better than the originals ones so that's a big plus. Concerning the power cutoff, I didn't experienced anything like that with charged batteries, unless I tried to go full throttle instantly in ludicrous. With almost empty battery, the fast setting was a struggle, and the motor stoped often. (I used 4 motors, two on each Buwizz 2.0 with direct drive (outer output) with 94.8 wheels) I agree with you, the color is surprising, I would also Have preferred black. And the exposed electronic parts are not reassuring to me, I fear that one day something will hit them and destroy the motor… The last huge plus for me is that they are produced, so if one break, we can buy a new one for a decent price (compared to original lego ones, I don't know any other 3rd party motors)
  17. Here's time for some new progress. I've added the hood, and replaced some of the parts for bleu ones, as my Bricklink order arrived. I'm still wondering what color to use for the front lights… As nowadays, most of the sets have trans-clear parts for the lights… In the spoiler, there is the version with the yellow tiles. The seat isn't done yet. however, the lights holder are ready. I have also remade one of the attachements. As you can see, it can be lowered. This is done using the lever next to the cabin, as in the original model. The goal is to make all of the three original attachements. That's all for now :)
  18. In the new Mario sets, there is 62462 in tan (set 71391)
  19. I've recently bought a lot of technic parts, there was an 90% full 42055 and more than half of the parts of 42078, all of that for less than 60 €
  20. Great car, I love the blue color. Building technic in blue is generally a great challenge, because you have to adapt to the existing parts (And it's also a way to flex on your part collection) And the overall shape is very good looking. Same, and the white 2L axle in it.
  21. It depends on which scale you look at. Because at a human scale, the overall charge of your ABS is neutral. Therefore, there is no need to neutralize it, as it's already neutral. And tbh, I think that ABS isn't made of ions, as it's a derivate of organic products. I think it's mainly made of covalent bonds. Sorry for of topic, this was my chemist rant
  22. Update time ! A lot has been done in the past few days. Engine has been started : I'm still thinking how to replicate the grey side of the engine. The fake engine is linked with a total ratio of 5:1 compared to the differential output. This makes the engine do a nice sound. The attachement lifting mechanism has been linked to some levers and ratchet. The ratchet is controlled by a rubber band. The linkage mechanism won't likely change, but the gear connection to the lever might change, depending on the space that the seat will take. And finale, a side by side comparison : On the to-do list, there is still : The attachements The seat The hood The rear bed (I might make it movable, even thought it isn't a feature on the original one.) The cab That's all for now. The progress might become slower for the next three weeks, as I will have a lot of things to do.
  23. So far, the new color/part that I spotted in the upcoming technic sets : 42128 Gear rack housing in Blue x 1 13L ? Alternating beam in black x 1 (at least) It's a 11L on, I just can't see. 11L ? Alternating beam on black x 2 (one on each sides, maybe 4x) Square part (Maybe a pneumatic tank, but That's only speculation) 42129 81.6 x 38 R tractor (with Class thread, likely 9 studs wide, seems to fit on 43.2 wheels) x 4 (according to @I_Igor) Toggle joint smooth in DBG x 2 at least Quarter eclipse in DBG x 4 (Thanks to @LvdH) The duck And the interesting/rare parts 42128 Panel 3x11x1L in blue x 4 (only in the Ferrari before) Panel 3x11x1L in orange x 6 (less uncommon, but still in only 3 sets so far) Mudgard 3x9x2L in orange x 2 (only in the corvette before) 7x0.5L liftarm in blue x 4 (quite rare and old, this will make the price of these lower a bit) Pneumatic valve in LBG x 2 (maybe 3, still not that common) 1x11L pneumatic cylinder in yellow x 2 (Finally after 6 years, it's back. One of the most expensive technical part currently, was only in the Arocs before) 42129 Panel 3x7x1L in DBG x 2 (only in two sets so far) Shield with Mercedes logo in black x 1 (Only in the crocs before) 9L and 7L liftarms in green/bright green x many (I can't count all of them…)
  24. The thing that bothers me on the grey box is that it appears to have a hole in it : But to my knowledge, no parts that have a similar look already exists… It's not a tile, as there is the rounded sides. It's not a stack of beams, as the space between would be visible. If it's not a new part, it's imho a stack of half beams : https://rebrickable.com/parts/41677/technic-beam-1-x-2-thin/ And an other point, the set probably contains a 13L alternating beam : The red line is 5 stud long, and the orange one 3 stud, so by symmetry, the beam is 13L (5 x 2 + 3 = 13)
