  1. How does the performance compare to the 8475 set? I have it and 8366, but haven't done much with them.
  2. That reminds me, almost two years ago I got both 8366 and 8475 for $130 NZ, which is about 81 euros. Only one remote and one antenna between them, and a lot of smaller parts missing (including extra wheels), but the plastic drift wheels were there and everything works! I later built Zblj's RC Tatra with eight 8466 wheels, four RC motors and two RC units

Even in Sariel's video reviews I skip the build, but he does things properly.

    Christchurch Brick Show

There are between 200 and 300 Technic sets, so not all of them! 8855 was the only set with both models present (you can just see it in the corner of the helicopter photo). Next year there will be a lot more B-models! The set we missed the most was 8480 Space Shuttle. I hope we can track down one in the country or import one for next year.. Other sets available but not present were 8282, 8288, 8416 and 8435.
  7. Four years since the last site update! How shall we celebrate? :P

    [75059] Sandcrawler

It's no MB_Bricks model but better than the old sets!
  9. The converter cable only provides power on the C1 and C2 lines, used by normal motors. Receivers and Servo motors use the always-on power lines, so you need to modify the connector or use foil. Here you can find which pins are which. http://www.philohome.com/pf/pf.htm
  10. I pried the back off, spun the rotor for a while and put it back together, and I think it turned a fraction before jamming again. I haven't managed to pull the rotor out of the magnet, does it come out easily? I will try some big magnets tomorrow. For reference, can some people test their motors with an ohmmeter? Mine tested just over 100 Ohms, which is probably normal but I'd like to be sure.
  11. The bottom casing is held on by ridges that grip a groove in the magnetic part. Unfortunately that part is glued into the top casing and you cannot get at the jammed gears from inside. This guy http://mindstorms.itgo.com/micro.htm opened the top by breaking off the ring around the output.

What do you do with your LEGO?

What do we do with our LEGO? We build stuff. Many sets are designed for kids to act out scenes with, but adults don't do that so much.
  13. Wow! This builds like an official LEGO set! Some mistakes though: One 12t gear missing on the left side of the motor module No axle to drive turntable Two small beams missing from one paper clamp Several extra pieces I can edit the Rebrickable inventory, shall I make it match up to my build?
  14. He cannot. Such a list will not exist unless he finishes the digital model, and if he does that he will post it here rather than emailing it to people.

  17. Since you're using 9V wires, wouldn't it be possible to reverse the polarity in there instead of using both outputs of the receivers?
  18. I'm waiting for a friend to order two at the moment, looking forward to the pneumatic engines! Gearboxes and transmissions are also interesting for offroad vehicles. Technic for teh win!
  19. I have just built a trial crawler where one knob wheel takes the torque of two XL motors. It soon generated dust on the sliding knob surfaces and started to bind. I put a small amount of silicone grease on and it has been running smoothly since. When I take it apart I will wipe the silicone off again to stop it going all over my other pieces.

  23. Here is a photo of both models. I only now realised that the suspension was not meant to be as stiff as I found it!... <accidentally deleted the attachment. Will have to find original file again>
