[TC6] Technic SBrick Contest - Information Topic
BachAddict replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My model isn't nearly as well built as, say, VK's. The unique idea is what is getting me votes. Your model is well built, but not as impressive as others in either looks or functions. Keep building! :) -

Jim, do you disqualify all a member's votes if one isn't up to standard? (e.g. a duplicate) If so, we could notify people whose votes currently aren't valid. While counting the votes after casting my own, I found two people who did not use colons. I did not watch for other mistakes. -

Well, that was a lot of work! In general, videos that dragged on put me off. While I was interested in cool functions, the final decision was often based on which model looked better. 38:10 17:6 21:4 43:3 1:2 33:1 -

seems to have dropped out of his post. Jim will have to add it again.By the way, Rm8, the YouTube link in your signature would be better if it didn't try to subscribe me to your channel - I might not want to subscribe before seeing if you're any good! -
Forgotten Builders and MOCs

I don't think FiveStarBrick has been mentioned. He released two incredibly nice models with detailed instructions, then vanished. he intended to charge for them, but changed his mind. -

I vote by elimination: 1. Open all discussion topics 2. Close mediocre entries 3. Start watching videos and examining photos. 4. Continue closing topics until I have six left 5. Decide rankings! -

I think you can't vote for your own creation. While I might be loath to vote for someone who is almost beating me, the differences in votes in the top spots are unlikely to be that small. -

Are you a member of any LUGs, Technicfan? That container truck looks good enough to have at our show in July! -

5. Katipo Spider Discussion Topic Modeled on the venomous Katipo spider, the NZ cousin of the Black Widow! Functions: Left walking Right walking Jaws Winch The walking mechanism is based on Sariel's Octopod walker, stretched sideways to reduce the step size so the long legs work realistically. I tried making it walk on the long axle-built legs, but their length amplifies the weight too much! The model works perfectly with the Sbrick, but the Android app is not reliable enough to use for demonstration. The jaws are closed by two MiniLAs, which gives them a painfully strong bite that the spider can hang from. A winch at the back is directly driven by an XL motor for fast climbing! I could easily thread the string through the front to make it climb up more realistically, but real ones use their legs for that anyway. The red mark on the back, brown leg tips and eye layout are carefully copied from the real one. Taking on giant spiders without Sting is not recommended! Discussion Topic -

Bricklink, known colours confusion?
BachAddict replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Known colours are those listed in set inventories. For example, 553b is known to exist in Flat Silver in a TMNT set. Are you sure it's not that colour? Bricklink sellers don't always get their colours exactly right. -

Thanks for the encouragement everyone! I tried rubber feet, but the legs didn't lift them high enough. The feet are extended inward to support the weight better. It walks better backwards because there's more weight at the back! -

Hmm, buggy motors... I might try them while disassembling it. I have geared up the L motors 20-12. The video will have to wait until I'm happy with the abdomen... You may be surprised! -

I can translate :D Interesting, he says the pneumatic system is 2.0 because it is 'more flowing' or smoother than the previous product. -

There is at least one profile with a "Lights" button, which keeps that output on until it is pressed again. -

Heh, I was racking my brains what other parts are that size and never thought of those! I have 55 of them, which is plenty :) If possible I won't buy anything from BL for this ( I have ordered some 15100 pins from LEGO) -
