Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
This thread is getting a bit off track—please do not discuss the MCU films or trailers here. This thread is for set discussion specifically—trailer speculation does not equal set discussion. Please take all film and trailer talk over to Culture and Multimedia. Thanks! -
The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion

Let’s take that tweet with a grain of salt for now...developing a film is way different than actively working on a green-lit one. So that is by no means confirmation a LBM2 is happening. -

Don’t read too much into that artwork. Stuff like that is not made by the set design team, rather outsourced artists. They are given lots of leeway in their ability to design and include characters in styles and costumes that were never intended to come to fruition—at least as they are show here.

We’re getting a Duplo Classic Electro? I must have missed that news. Either way, I would not take that to mean we should expect a Minifigure version anytime soon...if one recalls, the preliminary images for the Spider-Trike originally showed a Classic Electro figure, new helmet and all... But ultimately the final set gave us...the Ultimate version. -

Awesome! I spent the afternoon taking some interesting photos, I just need to actually figure out how to screenshot them after the fact. —— I’ve noticed some weird occurrences with the customizer too, but only ever regarding the abilities. I’ve been able to get bolts to fire from a single weapon, but I’ve not tried duel wielding. I think a big issue is that the abilities can often accidentally override each other without notice, which causes all sorts of issues. So basically it’s super important to be careful when selecting buttons and their corresponding actions. —— I haven’t checked, but presumably it is somewhere considering the fact its built on the loading screen’s micro scale model. I’ll have to look around. -

I've finished the story and have spent the last day or so free-roaming around. Overall it's been great fun--the story was well done, if a bit anticlimactic I think. I do wish it had a level or two of just villains being villains. As really exploring what a world without the Justice League would be like. We got a little of that, but I just wanted a bit more as the second half of the story is far more heroic based. There were lots of plot twists and crisscrosses which was amazing however! Some random thoughts: Omega beams chasing through the speed-force! "Look at all those posers--I liked Kite-Man before it was cool! Kite-Man...heck yeah!" Driving is utterly impossible. I've taken to riding a bike everywhere. I could fly...but this is better. Plus it has a turn radius and a bell. My main crew is Captain Boomerang and the Riddler. I take them everywhere and when I must fly I use Banshee. I love Boomer and I absolutely love Riddler's Rebirth design--kinda hoping we get that physically...seems lazy enough for Lego to release. Aside from liking his design, Riddler's search ability is necessary for those quests where you have to track down like five people--they're otherwise impossible to find! Calendar-Man blowing up my phone with his dumb-ass texts about his made-up holiday. Literally stealing candy from babies...I love you TT Games! Last one: I've never seen/used the Camera function before (Although I think it was in Marvel 2). Still it's super fun to use, and at times utterly hilarious. I've been thinking of whipping up a spontaneous Caption Contest--members screenshot some pics from the game and then we put up a thread in Licensed for others to write captions for? Prizes would be tags. Anyone interested in this? -

I’m loving the game so far! Particularly the amazing voice cast and writing. I’ve played five or six levels so far, and all of them have been both engaging and surprising. I’ve not really free-roamed yet, but the hubs look spectacular and I love that you are required to traverse the hub to continue the story missions. I will say though, driving is super difficult and all the cars seem to have the turn radius of a mountain. Other random thoughts: I love the main theme song from the menu and the Hall of Doom. It’s probably from somewhere, but it’s spectacular! The level/set design is awesome—I particularly love the Iceberg Lounge. The last Lego game, aside from Dimensions, that I’ve played was Marvel 1–so I’m a bit surprised at how many actions/abilities can now be used with just a few controller buttons...although I find it annoying when you keep accidentally shrinking or growing when you are trying to do something else. The character creator is great! But my imagination was limited at the start—I basically just made Catman...the creator at the start seems rather limited and I didn’t want to make a half-baked character from the get-go. -

DC Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion
Captain Nemo replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
There’s a big difference between a Theme and a Themed Wave. The first wave of DC Superheroes was a Batman themed wave. We’ve had a Justice League themed wave. The upcoming wave of Marvel Superheroes is a Spider-Man themed wave (again). Having a wave be themed does not mean it constitutes a new Theme entirely. I wouldn’t put any stalk in the “rumor” that we are getting a solely focused Batman Theme—we already got that in 2006. Everything is under the banner of “____ Superheroes” now—it’s just that at any given time some things can take up more space under that banner than others. -

From my understanding, the Deluxe Edition includes access to the DLC content and it is also packaged with the Lex minifigure. So any "basic" Deluxe Edition copy should include DLC and Lex. Certain stores/websites offer additional pre-order bonuses (such as a tin-case from Target or early DLC access via Walmart). i.e. I don't think it is necessary to pre-order the game itself, rather one just needs to buy the Deluxe Edition to get the figure. I'm on the working assumption that he is literally packaged with the physical Deluxe Edition copy of the game (apparently LMSH-2 did the same thing with its Giant-Man figure). -

Anyways, just as a refresher—this thread is not for spoilers. Talked about leaked figures all you want; there is no need to extrapolate that conversation into one of leaked set photos/plots etc. So, talk about the sets here, not the films. Thanks! -

Me don't like that roster. There are some really cool additions...and utterly baffling omissions. No Mad Hatter. No Man-Bat. No Killer Moth?! That doesn't even make any sense--there's a physical version of him and the Scarecrow in this game is the version from the same set! Why would you just leave him out? Those three have been in every game since its inception! I used to think that the TT games would essentially be required to include the latest (applicable) characters who could be found physically in the brick--because kids (or myself ) who own them would expect to be able to play as them in the game. It would also explain why there's just boring lackluster physical figure designs (such as Penguin and Killer Croc) oddly included next to highly detailed in-game-only characters. But what the hell! This makes no sense--obviously they must be picking names out of a hat at random. For a villain game, there are way, too many heroes taking up the roster for my taste. I know the Flash is popular--but we need him to take up three different character slots? Multiple robins? Multiple Wonder Women? Uh! That and no Catman. I'm just really disappointed! -

I really hope the free roam is more akin to Batman 2 than Batman 3... I hate it when TT games either smashes locations together (in a horribly ugly waste of space) or gives us these dinky planets with literally nothing happening. Half those Lantern planets were basically empty rocks. Honestly I would be fine with just Gotham and Metropolis if they were full worlds. Granted, juding from the trailers, it looks like we are getting tiny smashed locations. -
The Shadow Tower If I had unlimited funds and unlimited storage space, I would undoubtedly buy every and all Elves sets I could get my hands on. It's such a beautiful theme, both in color and design style, and I very much wish that in between all my regular Superhero programming I could fit in some time for Lego Elves. That said, I have picked up a few Elves sets over the years, but the most notable one is the absolutely gorgeous 41180 Ragana's Magic Shadow Castle. The set used spectacular color selection (especially with the shades of lavender) and had this evil looming presence. Plus it had the awesome Ragana minidoll--and as a huge sucker for Lego Wizards/Witches/Sorcerers/etc. I just had to get a hold of her. An all around great set...if unfortunately a bit too small for my taste. So for Brickworld Chicago 2017, I made it my fun task build my own version of Ragana's castle, using the official set as inspiration to build a much much larger tower for public display. Here are the results! When I started the build, there were a number of key features I wanted to include and carry over from the set itself. The lavender rocks were a must, and one of the main reasons I was drawn to the set in the first place. Likewise, I love how evil villains use corporate branding, so I filled the build with the banners of Ragana. Windows were important too, but while the official set only had one main decorated window I incorporated many more than that...which meant I had to Bricklink a huge number of the set's sticker sheets, as there were only one window sticker per sheet. So if anyone is in the market for some forty slightly used sticker sheets... To expand the character roster, I gave Ragana a number of cloven footed cyclopean guards, and for the defense of the castle (aside from Ragana's powers), I littered the place with swords, spears, and axes. The tower, like the set, also acts as a prison. There's a large hanging cage for special guests (like Elves), as well as a dungeon and torture workshop down below. Clearly Cyclopes do not like taking pictures... And of course I even included Jynx...although it looks like she's been put in timeout for some reason. Now the other part of this build is that, like the set, I included an interior. For the record thought, the idea to include a giant staircase was in no way shaped by how dirt cheap magenta steps are on Bricklink...in no way... Any who, the tower has six levels, with one long--continuous--circular magenta stair case, allowing direct access between four of the levels, and imaginary access between two levels. Looking at each level shows a different aspect of the tower. The lowest level, which is "below" the tower inside the rocky supports, is that of the dungeon and torture shop. Here, Ragana sends unlucky (or very lucky) minifigures from rival kingdoms to be tortured and jailed by Lashina--who I borrowed from the DC Girls line, because this is clearly why Lego made her. The next level is the "ground" level and features the drawbridge entrance and the start of the staircase. It is (normally) guarded by a large blue Cyclops, and it has some interesting features such as a chandelier and an area where one can look through the jail-bar floor into the prisoner cell below. The third level is rather militaristic as it features the interior armory and exterior barricades for defense. There's also a murder-hole which is positioned just in front of the main gates (just behind dragon head gargoyle). This level also features a viewing balcony, where Ragana or her guards can stand watch over prisoners in the cage. The fourth level is a storehouse for Ragana's magical items such as potions and a telephone to call her friend Sauron so they can gossip about wizard things. This level features another balcony, one allowing access to the prisoner cage. The fifth and final interior level is that of Ragana's personal chambers. I wanted to include more set styled things here, such as Ragana's bed, but unfortunately space started to become an issue (also timing, I didn't finish this until the day before the convention!) So instead, I added a captured dragon egg to top off the staircase, a mirror, more weapons, more balconies, and a portrait of Ragana. Also gold, precious Lego chrome gold. The sixth and final level is that of the roof...which I'll be honest about was tough to pin down. I wasn't sure how I wanted the tower to end, as the official set somewhat unceremoniously just cuts off. So, I decided to add a large fire-pit for a cauldron that Ragana would use to create evil potions. So all in all, the Shadow Tower was a fun build to construct--being both an expansion of a set I love as well as being way outside the realm of my normal builds (this isn't a brick figure!). Additionally of note, the Shadow Tower was nominated for Best Small Building at Brickworld Chicago 2017, which was a big surprise to me as that's always a loaded category--what with all the amazing buildings that show up for display each year. While it didn't win, I'm still very much happy with the building itself, and I'm now hoping to keep it alive for one year so I can display it again with a new companion building I want to construct, my version of 41188: Breakout from the Goblin King's Fortress. So...see you next year!

Well in the story, technically, Clark Kent/Superman disappears, but that would have no bearing on why he wouldn’t be on the character roster—for free play at the least (whether you even play him or any JL member in story mode). That character slot alphabetically belongs to Superman, of which Clark Kent is a costume variant apparently. But no, I’m positive he has a different design than that of the newscaster—who I believe is a non-playable Jack Ryder. -

I looked up the Wikipedia page of the Cheetah character herself—specifically the section dedicated to her appearances in media outside the comics. That section listed Erica as voicing Cheetah for the game. For whatever reason you can often find out who is voicing a character on the characters’ page, while you cannot find that same info on the games’ wiki page. Kite Man—Hell yeah! The character next to Detective Chimp is Dex-Starr. Also, on your picture you have Jack Ryder listed next to Superwoman—that is actually Clark Kent, a variant of Superman. -

I believe from what I've seen and have been told, the Lex Luthor figure is "included" with the Deluxe Edition. There doesn't seem to be any mention of him from the various stores I've considered pre-ordering from (which I have yet to do). I take that to mean that the Lex Luthor figure is literally included--as in packed directly with--the Deluxe Edition of the game + whatever bonuses certain stores included. So whoever you buy it from, as long as you buy the Deluxe edition--you will receive the physical figure in addition to store exclusives. I didn't recognize (or remember) her voice either--but apparently she is voiced by Erica Luttrell, who also voiced her LB3. I must say I'm really really impressed with the quality and consistency this game has for its voice actors. As a huge DC Animated Universe fan, it really means so much to just hear all these recognizable voices once again.
