  1. My guess is one of the two 12T wheels on the left side.
  2. I am a bit frustrated about this product. 1) The battery springs in my remote control deform plastically by the weight of AA batteries if you don't handle it with absolute care. I have to deform it into the other direction to get contact again. 2) I can't find the original charging cable. I've tried all of the 15 micro USB cables in my house and none of them is working. It blinks in red and purple and after 2 minutes, the lights turn off. Nothing happens when I push the power button. I think the solution to use micro USB with a proprietary cable is not clever at all, people (or at least me) just don't expect missing compatibility to other cables. Any Idea what to do now? Cheers, Jannik
  3. Definition of toy: " 1. An object for a child to play with, typically a model or miniature replica of something. 1.1 An object, especially a gadget or machine, regarded as providing amusement for an adult." Source (lets ignore 1.2 ) So my understanding: Yes, still a toy, but maybe more of category 1.1. My personal definition is that a toy is everything that I don't really need (which doesn't really have a task except of personal pleasure). Therefore, (to me) Lego is always a toy, no matter if I try to build models from it or if my small kid plays with it.
  4. Is it only me or is everybody more excited than last year? Knowing that there are two higher numbered licensed sets than a 2.5k piece car transporter (which could have been a flagship in the past in terms of parts count) makes me anticipate something really spectacular.
  5. I've just finished book #1 and there is still nothing missing. I also purchased it at Amazon UK for around 115-120 pounds (I guess it was the same offer).
  6. I am looking forward with excitement, the 42094 is high on my list! Our Claas Xerion needs some help to pick up all the trees here :)
  7. Me and my child are big fans of working machines with nice functions. I am not really enthusiastic about this wave but I will finally buy 42082 without any regrets :) The only interesting set for me is 42094, that would be a nice co-worker for my Claas Xerion. I still wonder what it's functionality will be about, I don't expect miracles there.
  8. Thank you very much, Jim! I just ordered the CADA remote control, let's see if it arrives.. Never ordered from Alibaba before. If it doensn't perform well (which I don't expect after your useful report), I'll try the BuWizz. I like the idea of having a rechargeable battery.
  9. Hi folks, after finishing our first little project (Claas Xerion - the build took my 2 year old son and me 4 weeks), we are making ourselves a nice christmas present and get the 42043 MB Arocs. I am excited about the idea to have a remote controlled truck but I really think that the PF IR technology is more than dated. I see that Lego seems to come up with a new system in the future but there are also a few third party alternatives like Sbrick and BuWizz. My question is: What useful alternatives are out there to the usual PF Remote controllers and batteries and what are the advantages/disadvantages? Is there a thread I didn't see yet? And is it possible to couple a classic remote control with an Sbrick or BuWizz or whatever? Kind Regards, Jannik
  10. I also think that it drives how a vehicle with rear axle steering should drive. Even my 2 year old gets along with it. We finished the build and we like the forklift quite a lot. It is actually quite a bit larger than I have expected which is a nice thing. I also like the looks of the final model. I think the tilting mechanism works nice but the transmission of the lifting mechanism is a bit too long. It also doesn't feel perfectly smooth, at least in our model.
  11. Thanks once more for your replies and the great and informative reviews! I will start to build the 42079 today. Just sorted all the parts in little bags so that we don't have to mess around with that many parts. I think that is much easier for my son. Furthermore, I got a used but like new Xerion 42054 for 105€ from Ebay. I will take it apart and build it next. I am really excited about that, it is really a beautiful and interesting model.
  12. My friend owns one of these. They are very hard to get nowadays, the price really skyrocketed. I think I will start with current stuff and try not to miss the classics from now on :) The sets where I am very sad that they are hard to get now are 42043 and 42054. I would have bought them for sure at their MSRP, but not for 200/300€.
  13. Wow, that sounds awesome, that's a good argument for 42082! I can't wait to have enough parts for my own constructions, that was always the biggest fun for me and probably one of the reasons why I have become an engineer.
  14. Thank you very much, Jim! I am also excited about 42079, it looks very well rounded and can be used like a real forklift. I also like its colors and think that the light on the roof as a control is a Lego Technic classic. Just ordered it, I got it with a voucher for 34€ which seems to be very fair for a set that looks nice and functional enough despite being not the largest. I like the BWE more for its parts, I think a lot of nice large parts are included. The functionality looks interesting but it is not nice that it doesn't work smooth. I will opt for the 42082, I think everybody needs a crane and having black and red parts is also very universal for the start.
  15. Hi folks, my name is Jannik, a 28 year old automotive engineer from northern Germany with a two year old son. Playing with Lego was my biggest childhood passion and I re-discovered it when I got the 42059 Stunt Truck as an unexpected birthday present. Of course it was a simple build but my son loves to play with it. As next step, I got the 42057 Ultralight Helicopter. I built the A and the B model together with my son. Of course, he is not able to build it on his own but he loves to merge the parts and to see the functions (fake engine, rotor). Now I wonder what we will do next. I think I will buy myself a 42055 or a 42082 as christmas present (at least if my lust for it continues). My heart beats for the 42054 but it has become very expensive (more expensive than 42055 and 42082). I am aware that the build will be way to complicated and too long to build it together with my son so I need a nice small and playable kit to build next. I thought of the 42062, 42075 or the 42079. Can you give me some advice for this special case (building together with a child)? Kind Regards, Jannik
