Classic Technic
leafan replied to leafan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I have tons of old Technic sets from the early 80s through to the 90s but they're hard to identify due to the shared element assortment and rather open ended builds. I do have the 1985 Go Kart to repair so that might be to tonights job. -
Hi everybody, I've never really been into Technic but I recently re-assembled a classic Technic set from a random brick lot that I got and I really enjoyed it. It turned out to be 8810 Dirt Bike/Cafe Racer: Front Rear Is classic Technic still relevant? I guess they're not as complicated as the newer stuff so I can see them not appealing to the modern audience. I enjoyed it for what it is though.

The Lego Movie 2 - The Second Part 2019 Set Discussion
leafan replied to Fenghuang0296's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yeah he's seen it, but I meant at the cinema. It's also going to be the first time I've taken him to the cinema. -
Peppermint ... what charity shop was that if you don't mind telling? It seems all of the charities near me take anything with value like Lego and send to their Leeds based eBay selling hub. I guess that might not be the case with smaller charities but I've yet to find any Lego at all. I don't mean to derail this thread. Thanks.

Me too. I just hope it's not terrible as I'm taking my young son to see it and it will be his first Lego movie experience. -

The Future of Lego Space. (opinions, ideas, discussion)
leafan replied to Trekkie99's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
What if it was a gateway to..... another dimension! They say the grass is always greener on the other side; well on the other side of this gateway is a universe where Classic Space never ended and Lepin doesn't exist!! The Lego Group is propering and Classic Space Astronauts and Cosmonauts are exploring every nook and cranny in their known universe. As if by chance, they discover the gateway at the same moment as we do and set forth to chart our strange galaxy... nay.... UNIVERSE, to it's full extent. After looking through their magni-glass, they catch the light of our distant star and planet to see Lego from approximately 1985 due to how long it takes the light to travel to their mechanical-eye. They see the direction that Planet Lego is taking away from their know reality and decide to send brainwaves faster than the speed of light to the Lego Gods (see: you and I) in order to stimulate happy memories of play with Classical Space, which they hope will revitalise the reproduction of their world forever more. Their best scientists stuggled over how long it would take to fruition and came to the startling conclusion that it won't be until Planet Lego's year 2019 that Classical Space will revive itself. At that point the transmission ended... -

This is bad news. I really hope Lego stop with this chase figure nonsense. -
Welcome to the Eurobricks forums, Simon!

Fantastic!

This is great. This is also why I don't moc; for I can never hope to be this good at it.

I made a modification to the wolfpack tower
leafan replied to Marghal's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Ah Marghal, I'm glad you posted this; I was going to suggest it. Subscribe to his channel guys & gals, let's support content for our favourite theme! Help a bro out :) Like I said before, great moc! -
Welcome Christian, I feel your pain on losing those old Space sets. Yes, you did say "MOC" correctly which means My Own Creation. You've joined at a fortuitous time because Classic Space is actually seeing some love this year. First, there's Benny's Space Squad from the Lego Movie 2, and rumours that we'll see some spaceships in the summer. There's also heavy rumour that the City theme will see a Space sub-theme that will cover more realistic modern space themes, as well as the Shuttle Transport that was recently unveiled.

I still have quite a few to build, so hopefully one of those you linked is among them. -
Well you brought a lot of joy to lots of kids from what I saw. Something to be proud of. Well done.

Welcome to Eurobricks, Tomas. I remember seeing in a documentary the pieces of a giant X-Wing that had been build at the Czech site and shipped to NYC for display in Times Square. Great work for sure.

Hej Martin, welcome to Eurobricks! Happy birthday in advance of this Sunday, too! I believe that you'll find a lot of fellow monorail and train enthusiasts here.

Yeah the Ninjago Movie sets are pretty detailed and are more display pieces than play sets. There may be some more suited to a younger audience in the regular Ninjago sets though. I even have some Knights Kingdom II, yes I have: 8821 - Rogue Knight Battleship 8874 - Battle Wagon And I would also like 8800 Vladek's Siege Engine because it looks cool. I generally buy used lots from eBay etc when I can see Castle pieces in there, so I'm taking my chances on sets being incomplete, but I also have a large collection of spare pieces so I find it satisfying to rebuild and repair them. I see from your last video that you also enjoy that. BTW, if you want play features so that your kids can enjoy them too, then I recommend 8874 - Battle Wagon because it has a prison carriage on wheels for play and it works well without being flimsy. My 5 year old (4 at the time I got it) was pleased with it. -
I keep on hoping that this will reach it's needed support, but I doubt it at this point: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/3073b7cd-e283-45bb-828c-8d3d32d49022/comments_tab#content_nav_tabs

Apart from all eras of Castle, I really love Classic Space so I'm very excited to see a mini-comeback with the Lego Movie 2 sets. I also enjoy the Collectible Minifigure Series and the Ninjago Movie sets, so have lots of those. Having a small boy has led me to buy things Star Wars too. But ultimately my favourite display piece right now is the Destiny's Bounty from the Ninjago Movie. Such a beautiful set. -
Welcome to Eurobricks, Dave. It really sounds like you've gone all in! If you ever build your city, please share some pictures so that we can all have a gander.

Ah good to know, but Morrisons don't have many locations near to me. Pity. Yeah same here, nothing catches the eye. Black Friday and beforehand though... I caught loads of great deals, including Amazon's Pirate Roller Coaster for £35, normally £69.99.
-
Is it just me or have the UK Lego sales, since Black Friday, been virtually non-existant? Usually the January sales begin on boxing day, which is still true to some extent but there's nothing with more than a 35% discount so far. Even Amazon had nothing of substance in their Boxing Day sale. Bad news for us UK bargain hunters.
