    Hello from Dan, UK

Dan. DAN. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANN. DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNN. (Alan Partridge anyone? ). Welcome to Eurobricks. The good news for you in that there are currently at least 2 Collectible Minifigure Series (CMF) available in the UK (4 if you know where to look) and 2019 has at least 3 series for release. 1. The Lego Movie 2 CMF (currently available in Argos and some W H Smiths, but officially released on February 1st. 2. May 2019 series. Unknown. 3. September 2019 series. Unknown. What is known is that one of those unknown lines is Disney series 2 CMFs, but which one is unknown. If you need tips on where to buy in the UK, let me know. I'm a Lego Del Boy.

    Themes LEGO should discontinue

I'd like to see Monorail fans get some sets too. Why can't we have that in addition to what classic fans want? It doesn't all have to be at the same time so long as there's a clear plan to fill the demand. Demand is always good for business if it exceeds the costs, and I believe it does in most classic theme cases. Yeah but even so, I believe it's large enough. I also think that there's more cross-over than you might believe. I didn't really have town sets as a kid, just Space and Castle, but I still have nostalgia for it. Luckily, that's one area that *is* being served with City and Creator Expert modulars. But yet Benny's Space Squad was sold-out almost everywhere upon release. There's clearly a good demand for it. Sure it was a cheap set, but so was Sweetest Friends and the shelves are full of those. Although it's true that everybody has their own perfect vision of what they'd like to see from their favourite theme, I don't think it;s fair to look at them as totally separate and divided. For example, I think that most classic Castle fans would be happy and excited about a new Castle line in the style of the original Crusaders, Black Falcons etc, even if their preference was say, ...Knights Kingdom. I'll take your word for it as I wasn't here for that. You can never make everybody happy and the unhappiest are often the loudest, but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't try. Nothing is a guaranteed success, but chances are it would be successful *enough*. I know, I own it; and I agree that it doesn't resemble Classic Space very much, but I bought it anyway! Why? Because Green Classic Space People and the set is kind of cool anyway. It may not be my perfect Classic Space release, but I was happy to spend my money on it and have it in my collection, so maybe fans aren't very divided afterall. I don't think that can be compared to the love and nostalgia that the classic themes that I mentioned have, but I also wouldn't object to them bringing it back in some form. I don't see people asking for Aquazone back very frequently at all, but Castle, Classic Space and Pirates? All the time. My complaint isn't that I don't think they will *ever* release Castle again, or any other classic theme, but rather that it's been so long now and there doesn't seem to be any plans for it in the near future. I'm also pretty up to date on the leaks, so I can see pretty much the rest of this year, if rumours and pictures are to be believed - but maybe this isn't a good place to discuss that. And classic themes aren't the "be all and end all of Lego" for me either, but I still want them to return. They're important. This may not be the best thread to use as an example, sure; but this thread does not represent the majority of discussion surrounding classic themes. That said, there's nothing spiteful or dismissive inherant to this threads stated title - it's just seeking opinions about what people would prefer go away (perhaps to make room for their favourite theme?). Someone may have said TLM2 sets and I would disagree, but as long as it's presented in a constructive way then I can accept that. It's not "self-centered" to want classic themes back, since by very definition I am not alone in this desire and neither are others. And I also don't believe that I need to consider other people when I state what I would like to see return. That's my desire. I'm not here for some kind of Lego altruism, but I am interested in discussing *my* interests with others who share it. As above, I'm here for my interests. I'm not here to support others interests. Frankly, I'm not interested in supporting the latest Friends line or support Friends fans because I have no interest in it and no obligation to do that. I post here to read about things that I *do* enjoy and find others with similar interests, and within that "bubble" I am happy to extend discussion and support with other fans. Luckily, my interests are varied. That doesn't mean that I do not wish the best for Friends fans. If they're getting what they want, great, I'm pleased for them and hopefully Lego is making some decent dosh from that line. I still have zero interest in Friends and would have very little to discuss with a die-hard Friends fan. It's not "stuff I like=good" and "stuff I dislike=bad", it's stuff I like=good, stuff I dislike=I don't care so long as stuff that I do like is produced. Despite all of the things you said here, I don't feel distain for any of the examples you mentioned as milestones (such as Ninjago's 100th episode) and I'm happy for those fans - but it doesn't change my feeling that Lego is neglecting classic. So why is my having this attitude weakening the Lego fan community? I'm sure a lot of others feel like I do in this regard. Well it can be new designs from Lego, so official. And it can be targetted directly at the people I've been talking about (perhaps with a handful of sets in a given theme) rather that a pot luck chance that a fan will moc that gap in the market. Finally, I'd like to say that I hope you don't find my responses here as a personal attack, but I am passionate about Castle, various Space themes, Pirates, Vikings and other classic themes to return in some form, and I have sometimes felt that your responses have lumped all people with that desire in the same barrel as moaners and selfish, so I felt the need to reply...passionately. To the contrary, I appreciate your insight into all things Lego. Now I'd love to carry on the conversation as I'm sure you have many counter points to what I've said, but please bare in mind that I may not be able to respond again because this has taken a significant portion of my night to read and thoughtfully respond to as many points as I can. I don't know how you do it, but I can't anymore (unless it requires only a small response). Take care. P.S. - BRING BACK CASTLE!
  4. It looks good, but honestly I can't really relate to it because it's not a physical thing that I can see. One picture looks like you've part built it but that's incomplete so I'd reserve judgement. I hope you don't take that as criticism, it's just that I have a hard time connecting to LDD pictures which is why I would rarely vote for them on Ideas, for example. One thing I did notice is that it has a lovely curve piece above the front 2 windscreens which I find appealing. Sorry if I've missed something you said to clarify anything but I haven't read all of the posts, I'm just reacting to the pictures I see and the brief paragraphs above them.
  5. The first ship that you built from parts you already had. It appeals to me because A) It looks good, B) I relate to your story about mocing and having the pieces etc and C) It's simple in it's design, like most Classic Space was. It looks like I could build this set if I wanted to, which isn't something I could say about the latest Peter Reid spaceship, spectacular as that is.
  6. I mean... I'd buy it, so I'd say you did well.

    LEGO Movies Discussion

Yeah I don't get why so many people seem to dislike The Ninjago Movie. I really like it. I can understand why it didn't do so well at the box office, because most parents had never heard of Ninjago so it didn't have the same broad appeal as Lego or Batman, but I think it's great. The action scenes alone are the best we've seen in a Lego Movie (excluding TLM2 as I haven't seen it yet). And then the sets based on those mechs were amazing, not to mention the Destiny's Bounty. Could it be that the movie gets such a bad rep because it's so different from the TV show? I know there was some bad blood about the voice actors being replaced and some lore ret-conning.

    Themes LEGO should discontinue

That's not what I was talking about, but ok. I understand that some people may fit your description but I said that I believe the general frustration with other themes is that they're seen as a blocker, which is underlined by your last paragraph: So if production is never lying dormant, then it stands to reason that other themes are blocking production of classic themes just by their existence. If you remember, Lego made too many bricks during their first loss year, so it seems reasonable that after having cut-back, they have the capacity to make more sets. The point I was making is that Lego probably has the room to produce sets specifically tailored to what classic fans want, and I can see nothing stopping them doing this with my limited, outside data. Well then we're going to have to agree to disagree. There's a hunger for classic themes (see: Castle/Classic Space/Pirates) and Lego isn't producing sets, so people are turning to other themes or other brands to compensate. I can't prove this but I think anyone who has spend a significant amount of time on these boards, or any other Lego discussion sites, would know it. Lego could test this by offering a set to be produced if it received enough support, like with crowd funding. Oh, and the Löwenstein Castle seems to be going down quite well over on Bricklink. People are loving it. Yeah, Lego Ideas exists, but I think it's generally agreed that the website basically useless and most classic theme stuff is going to get drowned out by the latest modular or random display piece. I can perfectly accept Lego taking a break from a given theme, but Castle has been gone for far too long now (and no, I'm not including Nexo Knights, which isn't Castle whatever the designers say). I've seen very few people being "spiteful", "dismissive" or bitterly ranting about this though? Most people just have a passion for something that is no longer available and want to discuss it with others who feel the same way. Frankly, I see your posts in nearly every one of said topics and I find them to be rather "dismissive". Like a 1000 word S.A. response to anybody wanting a new Castle doesn't make you right, it's just your opinion. Like, if you made a new post saying how much you want Elves back I wouldn't dream of stepping in there any trying to deconstruct why that is unlikely and how you should be happy with whatever the closest match happens to be right now. I dunno, seems "spiteful". Ultimately, the fact that I see it these posts so often backs-up my theory that there is indeed a good demand for classic themes. I'm interested to see the source data behind these sales figures and others. Can you provide a source, please? Not saying you're incorrect but I would like to see the data for my own reference. Well just because Forma didn't target the same audience, doesn't mean that a format like that cannot be used to sell classic themes. Afterall, Lego couldn't really lose because if it doesn't get support, it doesn't get made. Maybe they could use the new Bricklink AFOL Designer Program as a jump-off to start producing essentially, licensed mocs. The userbase votes, supports with pre-purchase and receives sets built from the existing inventory only. For me, in the end it's all about keeping the AFOLs happy. It shouldn't matter if Lego doesn't make a ton from these themes because keeping the fans happy should be more imporant (so long as they're not losing money). I've already suggested how they could do this and that's my take on it. I'd put real money on a bet to say that there is profit to be made from making new classic-style themes, both directly and indirectly.
  9. OMG you're like the new Marie Antoinette. Let me eat cake.

    Review: 70841 Benny's Space Squad

That ruined the entire movie for you? So you were just seeing it to see what happens with Benny?

Yeah but weren't those short lived lines? Yeah I agree. Especially with the lack lustre selection of new Creator sets.

I think it's because the existence of those themes actively puts a blocker on classic themes like Castle, in-house Space and Pirates returning. Sure, we've had the odd set or limited run, but it's never going to be back to a fully supported line whilst these other themes exist. I don't think people panic; it's more lamenting that themes they consider better are being shunned, which is perfectly reasonable. Personally, I don't know why Lego refuse to just released D2C sets for classic themes like Castle. Even a kickstarter for a good set would see pre-orders like the Forma one did. I agree on this, although like I mentioned above, we could have both. Shelf space might be at a premium but I'm guessing that Lego has production space to provide what so many here, and on other fan sites, want.

    Hello from UK!

Hi Will, I'm long past being a TFOL and I don't live in London, but I'm here to assure you that you're not alone and welcome you to Eurobricks! So welcome!
  14. Good spot. Works for me. Says this on the page: "LEGO® - CONF_TLM2_PlayThunder_12 Movie Building Games, 70837, Multicolour". I did a search for 70837 and apparently it had been noted by the Brothers Brick that set numbers 70837-40 were suspiciously missing, leading them to believe that those were the next wave of sets.

    LEGO vs. Held der Steine

I really wish I understood German so I could get a grasp of this guy's channel and this particular issue. Are there any English speaking Youtubers that own toy shops like this?
  20. I have a feeling that is going to magically go up by 1 vote.
  21. Anyone else spot the Fox Suit Girl? 1 second mark.
