Thanks for the photos That looks like a nice little set, especially as a source of tan parts! I wonder if it will be available in the UK at some point?

Looking good so far ACPin! Really nice details, especially the foliage I’m looking forward to seeing the final version; don’t forget R2 peeping through the window!

Community Build: SW Episode V - Empire Strikes Back
Lobot replied to ACPin's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Please count me in, although I’ll need to work out how to create a Flickr account so that I can post some photos! It will be either frosty or Cloudy! -
I've just checked my manual and the sticker sheet isn't included within the parts list. However, I've still got mine on the original backing sheet which has a barcode along one side. I'll PM you

Tesco direct have the mini Imperial Star Destroyer (8099) for £14.98 at the moment: http://direct.tesco.com/search/default.aspx?search=lego+8099 Total bargain!

Now that is genuinely amazing! Incredible size, details & brick count! That must have a very strong technic frame to make it stable, I wonder how long it took to build?
-
Great work, again, ACPin! Great detail including the use of Obi-wan’s hood in the other photos when he’s sneaking to & from the tractor beam! Have you thought about illuminating the beam with a Technic LED or two? I think that the blue would look great

It’s good to see some better photos of the new sets. I’m really impressed by the Droid escape & X-wing, definite purchases for me. I’d still like to see a dewback, but I guess you can’t have everything
-
I'm glad it's not just me. I bought one of these sealed a while ago from Ebay, but couldn't bring myself to open it. There didn't seem much point in keeping a white unopened bag, so I reluctantly sold it on again, I just hope that it went to a good home

Shouldn't the troopers be displayed on a white background, or are you re-creating Hoth in summer or following a spell of global warming?! Great stuff though, I love Snowtroopers You have a great collection TheDarkness.
-
The new X-wing looks quite nice, although I’m not too sure about the engines. Droid escape looks far better than I had expected, definitely one to buy for me

Thanks for the pictures & link spacepilot3000. I’m counting down the days until I can order this, and they’re really long days at the moment! Is that a UCS Falcon in your Avatar? If so, please can you post a larger picture? I’d really like to see the display that you’ve made for it.

I wonder if Lego have realised that people are resorting to building these from scratch? I guess that you could get most of the parts directly from them rather than via Bricklink, although you’d have to use a combination of the ‘Pick a brick’ service & ‘replacement’ parts. I’ve just had a quick look at the replacement list & they’ve included 284 different elements; they’ve even got the radar dish & rigging sections! I know that some members have strong opinions on the possibility of a re-issue, and I totally appreciate both sides of the argument. However, personally, I would like to see Lego do this at some point in the future (and I say this as an owner), as I’d love to buy another one which I could then display longterm without any fear of light damage. To me it’s a set that is truly iconic and I feel that everyone should have the option of buying one at a reasonable price. I paid £750 for mine sealed at the start of this year, and at that time I was luckily in a position to be able to afford it.

Excellent stuff! I’m amazed that this has been built by a 7 year old! It took me a moment to understand the ‘minfigure’ scale, but it’s really clever. The landspeeder & Dewbacks are my favourites

I guess that it's got to be the UCS Millennium Falcon (10179). It's massive, iconic, challenging to build and incredibly detailed. My second choice would be 886 (Vintage Space Buggy); I think that this was my first ever set...!

Nice MOC, well done! I really like the corridors & the carbonite chamber, although I don’t remember seeing any Classic Spaceman in the film?; perhaps they’re in one of the special edition DVDs! I totally agree that Bespin has been overlooked by Lego, and it really deserves some more attention. I was hoping that they would release something for it during the 30th Anniversary; I’d love the original set but the cost is far too high for me. I've been debating doing something similar myself, although on a slightly larger scale; my logo shows my best attempt to date of the carbonite chamber, link here to the full size version if you’re interested http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30749&view=findpost&p=1018464&hl=&fromsearch=1.

I have lots of respect for anyone who is trying to build a Falcon by sourcing all of the parts from Bricklink etc, it must be a serious undertaking! I started building mine again last night, and I’d almost forgotten how large it was! I totally agree with the comments about Lego Customer Services; they have been totally brilliant on the couple of occasions that I have contacted them

EBAY SCAM: UCS Millennium Falcon10179 - £186.99 NEW
Lobot replied to skyliner's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Well, I'm very pleased to say that Ebay have just removed this one! It seems weird that their being really slow to close some of the scams, but not others. Ah well, all we can do is keep reporting them (actually I'm making it a bit of a personal crusade!) -

And another one for the UK : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LEGO-Star-Wars-10179-UCS-Millennium-Falcon-Brand-New-/250885466507?pt=UK_Construction_Toys_Kits&hash=item3a69f0698b Actually, I think that this might be another hacked account (which happened a couple of weeks ago) as it's been dormant since 2008. I've just reported it to Ebay, hopefully they'll remove it quickly. -
3.5 hours, now that's impressive!! Even if the bricks are well sorted that's incredibly fast; I've built mine twice and I guess I clocked over 20 hours each time! I wonder if there is an unofficial record for this? I saw a clip on youtube a while ago of a speed build, but this was by a team of about 10 people! Anyway, back on topic, I'm expecting a 10-12 hour build for this (and I'm not going to use the bag numbering!!)

Great review dcflake, thanks! Some great photos, especially the engines! I’m going to order this at the end of the month; I’ve made a deal with myself that if I don’t buy any more Lego until then I can have one! The new Lego Autumn catalogue arrived today and they are offering free shipping until the 30th September, and extra VIP points on orders over £50, which is a bit of an incentive. I completely accept the (obvious) limitations of the set, and the cost is towards the top end of what I’m happy to pay, but it still looks very impressive.

I’m glad that Ebay seem to have finally taken some action about this. I reported 3 separate listings, but I didn’t receive anything from them apart from the standard automated reply. I was really surprised that one of them was still showing 24 hours after I’d reported it (and I clearly wasn’t the only one doing this), especially considering the amounts involved. I just hope that everyone gets a refund. -
Excellent work Brickdoctor! The shape looks very accurate, and I really like the detailing on the wings You must have a lot more patience than me; I’ve tried using LDD a couple of times and it drove me nuts!

I have two brothers who were a lot older than me, so when I reached 6 or so I acquired all of their bricks (all fairly basic, it was the early 80’s!) which were a lot of fun. One of my brothers was very keen for me to play with Lego and I migrated through the early Space sets into the first Technic ones. I had fond memories of building a pneumatic digger (8851) when I was in my early teens, those were the days! Then I drifted onto other things and passed on my collection to my nephew. A few years ago my wife bought me the UCS Motorised AT-AT (10178) as a Christmas present. She new that I had a thing about Star Wars, and to be honest I think it was intended as a bit of a joke, but I was totally hooked! I haven’t looked back since!

A remake of 4479 would be great, although I guess that most fans would link it to the asteroid scene in ESB rather than ROTJ? Perhaps I need to watch it again.....! I’d like to see a remake of 7264, but I can’t see that happening whilst the UCS version is still in production.
