    steam locomotive series 310

Hallo the Locomotive looks very nice, the scale is not exact but the rendering is able to hide this fact, unfortunately the right wheels (2140mm diameter!) simply don't exist in LEGO universe. The boiler was definitely black but in Lego this blue looks nice, it should also be more tapered (I assure you that is noticeable, I've seen the locomotive at Prague Museum) but this is very difficult to achieve smoothly in LEGO. The tenderreihe 86 is simply beautiful. I congratulate you for facing such a difficult rendering. Sergio Monai

    Brick Train Awards 2023

Many congratulations Sven, you deserve it! Sergio
  3. As usual you have been able to improve something already perfect.. Just a question, how are the 3D printed Breckland Bricks wheels in front of the moulded BBB? gruss Sergio
  4. Hallo Sven I've already seen your wagon elsewhere (in Deutsch) but I prefer make my congratulations here. Really on your standards, which are very very high. Alles gute! Sergio
  5. Hi Sven I've already seen your movie elsewhere but it's always nice to watch again a great director at work Sergio
  6. Finally it arrived on Eurobricks, as you know I had the opportunity to see it on other sites. BRILLIANT as usual.. For the noise I agree but the velocity seems in scale, I don't think it run very fast on rails.. The inspection cars are an interesting argument indeed, do you remember the Sir Topham Hat (the fat controller) Winston? https://ttte.fandom.com/wiki/Winston gruss Sergio

    New Hogwarts Express

Probably I was wrong and in fact, watching carefully the last movie, the actual diameter without the flange should be 48mm, but since the gauge has changed, also the scale is not more the L one (1:38), compromising the right reproduction of the 1,8mt diameter of the real locomotive. Sincerely I don't understand such an approach. Therefore: or LEGO start a new scale design for his train system (very unlikely), or these are unique pieces devoted to few static models.

    New Hogwarts Express

They look not so large, if you pay attention the flange seems 6 studs wide = 48mm, therefore the useful diameter is around 43 => XXL, as regard the crankpin it seems you are right and this means only one thing: LEGO doesn't want these wheel to be used indipendently, not to mention that it is not prototypical.

    New Hogwarts Express

It has been conceived for Harry Potter's audience, not for train one. With such a scale they could make the rods leverages a bit more realistic, it is a pity, not to mention the ridiculous steam ducts. The only positive thing, from a railway point of view, are the new large wheels, XXL size, but only flanged, therefore people must by from others the dumb ones!
  10. I've seen something elsewhere (in Deutsch) but in what scale 1:32 or 1:38 (L-gauge)? It will be wonderful I'm sure Sergio
  11. Well done, it is very nice with the firebox front and its valves. The interior of my BR96 is completely dumb with the power function sensor as a firebox S. p.s.: perhaps there are some odd graphical settings on you OS (windows?).
  12. yes sure but with 3d modelling it could be done, obviously not from inside the cabin but in my BR96 I can change the height of the radius bar manually, also if the lack of a proper expansion link (3D?) do not allow a real reversing job. Indeed I would like to see them Sergio p.s.: Sven I see the front picture correctly, perhaps is a question of browser? (I use ubuntu firefox)
  13. Wow, finally you got it! As in all your models you have reached that sensation of reality that only brass models can give. I think that you are beyond the LEGO community, it is a very nice thing use it this way to favor the spreading of railway industrial culture. Next step: a functional steam distribution (khun scheife?) and... a REAL door Sergio

    DB118 & Blauer Enzian

Hi Emanuele Many compliments for the MOC it deserves the frontpage and, also if I'm focused on boiling affairs, it's really charming. I agree with the overhead line enthusiasm but I realize that is not easy to make, above all in the curves. Sergio

Really well done, a very nice rendering. Let me wish you a great 2021 too, not only better than 2020 it would bee too easy.. :-) Sergio and eros

    BR 99.23-24 in aprox. 1:22

So you write on the spreadsheet that the gauge is 45mm, why have you reduce it to L-gauge 38mm? if you look in front of your model the too narrow gauge will pop up immediately, also the leading wheels should upscale. The rendering is very very nice but the contrast in scales is somehow disturbing. For the XXL LDRAW files try https://www.bricktraindepot.com/resources/ regards

    BR 99.23-24 in aprox. 1:22

Very well designed, BUT you cannot use 2 different scales, one for the gauge and one for the locomotive body, in this way the overall look is disharmonious. The right scale should be 1:26 and the wheel diameter 38mm, this means you should use the XL wheels (if you use the 1:22 scale you should get the XXL size) and this is visible in your blueprint too, are the hidden side wheels bigger? Let me congratulate for your wonderful dioramas in flickr (are the really built or only digitally designed?) All in all a very nice idea for a wonderful locomotive. Best wishes for the project

    BR18 201 Germany Express

Really a nice rendering, very well built. There are only one thing you could improve: the tender is too low, if you look at the real engine the roof of the cabin is at the same level of the tender top, this is a very easy thing to do, one or two more black plates in the upper section of the tender. I understand that the gap between the lok and the tender is necessary to negotiate the curves. Unfortunately in the Lego train world there are no wheels of the right dimensions, and the comparison between the HO model and the Lego one is merciless. You have chosen the worst locomotive in this sense, with 2300mm (from the 61.002 predecessor) these are the largest in this locomotive era. many congratulations indeed

Many thanks Coal Fired I already knew this site, nice but I was looking for something more technical, what sounds strange to me are the weigths of the different sectors of the loko: 180000 pounds for the entire driving section (with the boiler full of water) and 110000 for the trailing one, also taking into account the 5000 gals of water and 6 tons of coal it means the empty tender would weight more than 24 tons! There are no accesible detailed plans for this loko and is a pity because it would be the heaviest locotender ever.. anyway your model catched its spirit (but think about larger driving wheels) regards Sergio

[MOC] Boston and Albany D1a 4-6-6t

Many thanks Sven, the book is very interesting but the informations are very basic indeed. It seems as this lokotender were a ghost, only minimal descriptions and numbers in a small table..I would still debate about the total weight which looks very high above all for the tender.

could you give us the bibliography reference of this book? it is very difficult to find something about this Loko. many thanks
  22. Ah Michael Ende! in italian it was "Jim Bottone", I didn't know the Augsburger Puppenkiste, very nice.. Sergio
  23. wow wonderful movements, the music remember me an old german song, it is the same as in this video (you should already know it) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScetzlOtibA very nice indeed, for the rolling stock have you considered the marklin LEGO base? Gruss Sergio

[MOC] Boston and Albany D1a 4-6-6t

Wow the swinging is large but is, let's say, harmonic, not disturbing. I wonder if using a train motor instead of L one (the first and second driving axis are separated quite exactly by 7 studs) would be simpler. I love the rendering of the inclined firebox; you know you have realized a loco I was thinking about since longtime, now it will be difficult to emulate you.. regards

[MOC] Boston and Albany D1a 4-6-6t

Really wonderful realization, you should only look for a larger wheels set (new BBB XXL?), the LEGO wheels are not in scale for this locotender. Do you have some more information about this locomotive? n the literature is very difficult to find something, it is claimed to be the world's heaviest locotender ever, but it is a bit strange because they say the tender weights about 41 tons, a bit hard to believe.. How have you solved the LEGO tight curve problem? the tender should swing a lot from the boogies. many congratulations Sergio and Eros
