Favorite unintentional play feature?
Johnny1360 replied to Lemerbrix's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Sorry couldn't resist, lol, it's hard for me to find play features as I really don't play, much but I have used LEGO for stuff it was not meant for. -

Unusual/illegal building techniques
Johnny1360 replied to brickhead_07's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lol, they really should have come up with a different word for it, as the word Illegal really seems to trigger some people. When in fact nobody gives a flying hoot what the hell you do to your little plastic pieces. The problem arises when the illegal technique gets unwittingly passed along as acceptable, from moc instructions or other ways to someone that doesn't understand. Anyway I have never concerned myself about it because there is certainly nobody out there actively looking to punish offenders, nor would I care as the plastic is mine to do with as I please.- 21 replies

[MOC] The Mountain by Bjarke Ingels
Johnny1360 replied to Esben Kolind's topic in Special LEGO Themes
What an amazing building and it is so cool to see it in LEGO form, really helps to understand the size and function of such a large structure, well done. One question, where can I get some of that LEGO graph paper, I make my own and it is quite time consuming to make, premade would be a game changer for me, lol. -

New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation
Johnny1360 replied to MTBingNinja's topic in LEGO Town
I was worried that the Nissan Skyline would be a disappointing set, as the source material is so boxy and flat, well suited to LEGO for sure but can result in a rather boring build. Regardless 76917 was a great build experience many unusual techniques and snot building make it anything but boring. Really impressed with this set and can only hope Speed Champions continues to improve yet maintain the same fantastic builds. Might even be worth picking up a second copy when it is discounted some, the prices do seem to increase substantially again this year. -
New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation
Johnny1360 replied to MTBingNinja's topic in LEGO Town
Something of no consequence, I have only just now noticed, while building the new Nissan Skyline. All Speed Champions sets include helmets for the drivers as an option, however all the new licensed movie cars, include no such option. I guess because it isn't movie accurate, who knows but I wouldn't mind having one included regardless, surely it wouldn't add that much cost. -
Technic Parts We Would Find Useful
Johnny1360 replied to gyenesvi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So many absolutely great parts ideas, that could be real game changers and this is the one I would really like and I have no idea why it doesn't already exist. -
Could Lego really help with depression and anxiety?
Johnny1360 replied to ks6349's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I picked up LEGO several years ago and it fit perfectly for my doctor recommended therapy for another mental disorder, not depression and it has helped me tremendously. -
It does look pretty cool and I am a fan of Godzilla, loved those shows as a little kid. People would make fun of me for liking the shows, saying how fake it was but that was what I enjoyed most, all those little models getting blown up or smashed, lol. Anyway it would be nice to know a little more about the MOC.

New LEGO Speed Champions 2023 Rumors, Speculation
Johnny1360 replied to MTBingNinja's topic in LEGO Town
That's a real shame those are the only ones you have as I consider most of the SC sets to be very fun builds for a rather economic cost and and I definitely agree with your experience building them. However a part of me feels like this is an excuse for LEGO to raise the prices, like they really need one, lol. Basically the prices have doubled in the last 6/7 years. -
REVIEW: 76917 2 Fast 2 Furious Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34)
Johnny1360 replied to Pchan1983's topic in LEGO Town
That is a very glowing review for a set I am trying real hard to hate. Thanks, I suppose I will pick up this set, after all I have every other Speed Champions set. It is possibly my favorite theme after all. -
Yeah not a fan of Minecraft for sure but I will absolutely buy discounted sets, mostly to get actual bricks and beams, instead of a pile of tiny pieces I already have an overabundance of, like you get with almost every other theme. Hope Minecraft is around for a long time.

Technic 2023 Set Discussion
Johnny1360 replied to Dami's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I fall into this category as well, although I have built a handful of worthy B models and was fond of their existence even if they didn't come with a printed manual. -
Man oh man, that is truly an unpopular opinion, lol. Here's another one, LEGO was way better when it was a kids toy, now everything is art, static display or some kind of object, like a helmet or hammer and everything else is just thrown in as an afterthought to buff out overpriced Minifigure packs.

The Love for Printed Pieces Thread/Sticker Resentment Thread
Johnny1360 replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
As well as the bigger 2x2 round tiles. It really looks bad when insignias on Star Wars ships are off center and I wish they would make them stickers, if they are unable to even get the prints centered, as I mentioned in my previous post.- 57 replies

42151 - Bugatti Bolide
Johnny1360 replied to Maaboo35's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Picked this set up today and if nothing else, it is a terrific parts pack, you actually get a usable amount of many new panels, so good in fact, I didn't bother with stickers and will likely pick up a second copy when it goes on sale. -
The Love for Printed Pieces Thread/Sticker Resentment Thread
Johnny1360 replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I do agree prints are generally preferable but before stickers are eliminated they need to dramatically improve their printing process, prints on round parts are hardly ever centered properly and they seem to have a hard time making multiple printed parts in a row actually line up, the Ford Mustang is a good example of that. There are also problems with background colors bleeding thru the prints, which makes the color look faded or worse not even the color it should be, the dinosaurs are a good example of that, reds looking brown. Then some parts are so thin that a print can even appear to be opaque on them. Stickers work well in those cases, so yeah prints are theoretically better in many cases but only with a much improved printing process. Personally I like stickers 90% of the time but that is only because I choose not to apply them and am grateful for that option. However there are a few prints that are spot on and I wouldn't want it any other way.- 57 replies

LEGO Star Wars 2023 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Johnny1360 replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I had no problem picking one up at my local Target yesterday, there were 5 or 6 still on the shelf too. As far as getting ripped off, well I would never buy a resealed set without verifying the contents in-store, I have done this many times before as well, or getting it at a substantial discount. -
[REVIEW] 75336 Inquisitor Transport Scythe
Johnny1360 replied to Clone OPatra's topic in LEGO Star Wars
This review was just enough of a nudge for me to buy the set. Did not disappoint, a real gem and fun to build, also a great addition to my Star Wars fleet. Thanks for the review, we see so few of these type reviews anymore, so that was a treat too. -
The pictures on the box of LEGO sets, are just ideas/suggestions of what you can build with the bricks inside. It's funny but when I look at a LEGO set, considering purchase, I always look to see what parts are in the set first, are they elements I would like to have or even use, then I check out the build. I very much enjoy both but the contents are more important than the the models, color, build technique, size, function, looks, realism or accuracy.

What’s the math for 30 degree connection points?
Johnny1360 replied to sixf00t4's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Probably not the answer your looking for but have you considered using some sort of "snot" construct or some hinge plates, to achieve the angles. -

Extremely well executed, great to see it in real bricks as well. Of all things though what I really like is the seats, great use of crow bars. -
