Very cool, great idea, although that is one train I would definitely not board if it pulled up to the platform.

[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks that is as I thought, now I can quit obsessing over my CV joint arrangement, lol. -
Looks very good, although I may be a bit biased, as I generally like everything you make. If I had a single gripe about this one it would be the huge mass atop the vehicle, so much stuff but hard as I look I find no kitchen sink. Anyway again it is a great moc and I thoroughly enjoyed checking it out, really like the way the wheel covers worked out.

[HELP] Generic Building Help Topic
Johnny1360 replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hope this is the right place for this question, no need for a new topic anyway. So by now most of us are familiar with the correct way to align multiple universal joints, to avoid cavitation. Recently though I have been using more and more CV joints rather than U joints which got me to wondering. Is it important to line them up the same way as the U joints, or with CV joints, is it even necessary? -
This does look like a very good set, even though I do not collect or build Friends sets. I have noticed how much they have improved in the last couple of years and quite frankly seemed to have knocked this new wave right out of the ballpark, good job LEGO. Thanks for the review as always @Pchan1983, may seriously consider picking this one up.

Johnny1360 replied to keymaker's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Usually that icon indicates an alternate control panel or user interface. I am going to have to come back to this and check it out a little better, sadly I am laughing so much, I can't see straight. -
More compact portal hub that fits inside technic racing medium rim
Johnny1360 replied to Technic tango's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Nice design, have you used this for any length of time? Just curious about how robust it is, I understand that compromises must be made to reduce size but it looks like to me that heavy use will have some issues, not the least of cracked/broken parts. -
"Duel" rusty 1955 Peterbilt truck with gasoline tanker trailer - 8-wide movie-inspired MOC (finished 5/22/23)
Johnny1360 replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Licensed
Nice, @Murdoch17 really impressive that you finished what you started, something I wish I could do more of myself. I see you have made many changes in the tractor, likely truer to the source material, it has been so long since I remember seeing the movie. Though there are some details in the older one I like, the front fenders are a huge improvement and turned out well but I think the other cabin roof looks a little better. I get a big kick out of seeing people stick with a moc for years and finishing, I have a green cargo plane, City, that I have been working on for 5 years now, lol, needs extensive fuselage rework but I will finish it. Anyway looks great, good luck with the brown bits and thanks.- 12 replies

I would start with some rough design sketches with strong emphasis on future builds and or rebuilding. Do you plan on a train layout, water feature, airport, roads, what you want the overall look to be, that sort of planning will help everything to look right and not just be a pile of various LEGO sets jambed together.

42158 - NASA Mars Rover Perseverance
Johnny1360 replied to msk6003's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yeah probably meant to indicate how interested in mechanical stuff the person assembling the model is, as well as space, with all the planets laying around. Otherwise it would be most unconvincing, that the individual is even slightly interested in the subject matter, instead of a room full of LEGO. -
That is what they promise in the thread right below this one.

Would be interested in seeing how this works, if I had a computer I would check out the demo but unfortunately can't do much with just my phone. I don't imagine it's any better than some of the stuff we have already seen but they do make some mighty big claims. I really thought by now someone would have looked into this a little deeper.

I suppose it can and will be used more and more in the future. The thing is to me anyway, half the fun is designing whatever I try to build. It's the same with electric bikes as well, what's the point half the fun is pedaling and it does away with any health benefits, kind of like going to the gym to work out and using self lifting weights. Sure AI can crank out some cool looking stuff and surely can offer some inspiration but like I said in the other thread it's like an artistic representation of a artistic representation, so it gets a little funky with what it creates.

42154 - 2022 Ford GT
Johnny1360 replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Are they the same scale, for some reason I thought the GT was a slightly larger scale. -

Speaking strictly for myself, I certainly won't be buying any more than the one I have. Just doesn't seem worth it to me, for a half dozen or so recolored new parts anyway. It would have been nice though to be able to choose which color I want, the first time. -
How do you display 10313 Wildflower Bouquet?
Johnny1360 replied to Stepwise's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I use many smaller LEGO elements. However be warned, while it can look absolutely fantastic, it is possible for it to look hideous. -
LEGO Action theme AI generated images :
Johnny1360 replied to TeriXeri's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Indeed, if they actually generated something with existing LEGO elements, we might have something, instead of an artistic representation of a artistic representation. -

LEGO Technic 8848 - Mini Review
Johnny1360 replied to Paul B Technic's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I very much enjoy these older set reviews, as I was far into my dark age at the time, which I came out of just a few years ago. So a lot of it is new to me, thanks. -
Scaled 2312 ASD Tug Models in scale 1:90
Johnny1360 replied to Edwin Korstanje's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hmm, that is definitely not the same model and looks to have much fewer parts and attention to detail. Would be interested to know more about it though. -
42157 - Skidder John Deere 948L-II
Johnny1360 replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Seems like an unusually fair price to me considering all the cylinders and great part selection, especially when compared to recent pneumatic offerings, I consider the tow truck to be a good bargain as well. That's something I rarely say anymore about any LEGO set. -
Oh man, how depressing, lol, I have about the same size collection, in dire need of sorting and storage, will be moving this summer. I guess I better get cracking. My problem is whenever I start sorting, within ten or fifteen minutes I start experimenting with different parts, then next thing I know I am moccing and digging out already stored bricks, lol.

Icons Chevrolet Corvette 2023 Rumour
Johnny1360 replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I want to be excited about this set, love the car, unfortunately after building the Camaro and continually rising prices, I am at best hopefully optimistic. Patiently awaiting pictures and other info, it is discouraging though, even though I have all the other cars of this theme/style and love them, the Camaro really disappointed me, unlike the Speed Champion sets which seem to improve with each new wave, new useful parts, interesting build techniques and reasonable pricing is what sells me. -

Johnny1360 replied to vergogneless's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Right on, thanks for responding, it is great to see how much fun you are having, pushing LEGO to the limits. Looks like the glue bottle got a little out of control there, I wonder if maybe there is a better way of preventing tire slippage on the rim. -
