    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

At this point, I'm starting to think that LEGO might revisit some of these shows with sets later on. I don't think it would be too far-fetched, considering that both WandaVision and Falcon and the Winter Soldier apparently both had premiere viewership numbers exceeding that of The Mandalorian Season 2, and LEGO is clearly more willing to revisit past MCU properties now.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I feel like Johnny Storm and Iceman won't be showing up in sets until their characters show up in the MCU. Cloak and Dagger would be excellent choices. I'd be satisfied if they used their designs from LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2. Silver Sable would be great too. I'd like to see how LEGO would do Frog Man. Rocket Racer would be neat, but would feel a bit wasted without a Big Wheel to go up against.

Yeah, I was still typing that up when he posted, so I didn't see that until after I posted. Rather disappointing, but hopefully whatever heroes they include will be good picks.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

No new villains other than Black Cat? Oof, I was really hoping for more than that. I really hope the next wave of comic Spider-Man sets improves the villain selection, because I was really hoping for this set to add at least a few more characters to the rogues gallery instead of just one. More heroes? That could be interesting. Three more, combined with the confirmed Spider-Man, Daredevil and Punisher, would equal six heroes to balance out the Sinister Six. Peter Parker and Jameson added to that lineup would bring the minifigure total to the 14 that was the minimum confirmed. Stan Lee would be a fun bonus inclusion, but I'm not sure if LEGO would go that route.

    Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

It's very difficult to read the minifigure names on the box art, but it looks like it does say Luna's name on there. So yeah, just a weird choice probably just so they could include a more noteworthy Ravenclaw student, similar to the Hogwarts Moments sets including younger versions of Cho and Cedric to represent their respective houses, despite them not being in the earlier movies that those sets were otherwise based on.

    Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Random thoughts: It looks like the Technic pin system used to connect the new sets uses the same positioning as the 2018-2020 sets, so they should be easy enough to integrate with the previous sets. I think the new Great Hall/Chamber of Secrets will be a worthy enough successor to the 2018 version, even if that version has a better looking exterior. The interior of this new one is fantastic, and demonstrates great attention to detail on the part of the designers. I still hope the buildable Fawkes set includes a minifigure scale Fawkes in a flying position, as that would definitely add a bit to the Chamber of Secrets. Luna's a strange inclusion, but now we have house robes for all four houses. The accessory pack could be robed students just as plausibly as it could be Quidditch players, as no new torso printings would be needed either way. The Bathroom being positioned directly over the slide to the Chamber of Secrets makes me think the sink area will open up. I'm not sure if Dumbledore is meant to be in the same outfit represented in CMF Series 2 or not, but the lighter color scheme is a fun throwback either way, plus the hairpiece in white is very welcome. Now that Devil's Snare is confirmed for the Forbidden Corridor, I wonder if we'll get the Chamber of Winged Keys and the Stone Chamber in the future to complete the setup. The minifigure selection is pretty great. I'm very happy they seem to be making robes the new default, as the jumpers were getting a bit old. With Harry having an open robe in the Chamber of Secrets and closed robes in the Forbidden Corridor, and Hogsmeade Harry having the 2019 torso but with black legs instead of dark gray, there are technically no entirely repeated figures in the sets as far as I can tell. I'm pleasantly surprised they found a clever way to make Nick different from the 2018 version, when they could have easily gotten away with reusing that figure. Raises a lot of questions for the future. If they make other house ghosts, would they be glow-in-the-dark too? Will they include a glow-in-the-dark version of Myrtle in a set someday? I wonder which characters will be represented in the Wizarding Cards. Dumbledore seems obvious, plus his card was a major plot point. The four founders would be great. Maybe Newt Scamander too. I believe it was confirmed that the main trio got their own cards at some point, so their inclusion wouldn't be too out of place.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

No, I agree that the TFA Hydra Soldier would have been better to get. A TFA set in general with completely new variants would have been more exciting to get than a AOU set, especially when the Cap and Hydra Soldier from 2015 are still pretty easy to find online and it's doubtful LEGO will do much to improve upon those for the new set.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Eh, I suppose the AOU Cap could be improved on, but I'd only see LEGO using the new helmet piece and fixing some torso details for the 4+, considering the Endgame version isn't getting arm or leg detailing. I would have much preferred a TFA or Stealth Suit variant, but I suppose we could get those in a later wave. Hopefully the Hydra Soldier will have a helmet this time. The AOU Hydra Soldiers would really benefit from leg printing, but I'm not sure that LEGO would include it.

    Super Mario 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Interesting. Would we be assuming that's for the D2C? The picture in the IG story is confusing, because it shows Mario as being smaller than the minifigure, so could that be implying it's a microfigure? I would hope not, as I've been waiting for LEGO to do a proper minifigure of Mario for some time now.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I second that you should wait for the CMF for Wanda and Bucky. For Black Widow, I'd recommend the one from last year with arm printing, the cheapest set it's found in being the Falcon and Black Widow Team Up pack for 14.99 (Though that's becoming more difficult to find, as its retiring soon). The same figure is also in Avengers Tower and the Helicarrier. If you're interested in the upcoming Endgame Rocket, it should be coming in the Benatar for $149.99. Otherwise, I'd say the best one released so far is the polybag version with the dark red outfit. The 2018 Ant-Man and Wasp from the Quantum Realm Explorers set aren't too tricky to find. The War Machine from the Helicarrier is pretty good. The version from the 2018 Infinity War Bricktober pack is better, but also more expensive. However, that Bricktober pack is also the only way to get Wong, so if you're lucky enough to find a Bricktober pack for a price you are willing to pay, you can cross War Machine, Wong, and Bucky off your list at once and get an exclusive Tony Stark variant as well. Both Doctor Strange figures that have been released are very similar, with the only differences being the hair pieces used, and the 2016 version having the collar attached to the cape, while the 2018 Infinity War version has the collar as a separate piece from the cape.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

You raise a good point about Deadpool and Joker. I had assumed that Deadpool got a figure because it was released years before the Deadpool movie came out and established him as an R-rated character. Since then, we've gotten Deadpool minifigures as SDCC exclusives but that's about it, but then again, LEGO hasn't done much of anything with X-Men related characters recently. Joker is a weird case, because he's had a lot of different portrayals, and LEGO has done both lighter versions such as the 1966 version, and also darker portrayals such as the Dark Knight version (though that version has only been in a D2C set so far). Joker has also had CMF figures clearly based on his outfits from The Dark Knight Returns and The Killing Joke, which would be dark enough choices, but their included accessories are even darker with the context of the original stories. Hopefully the rumors of Charlie Cox playing Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home turn out to be true, as that would definitely increase the chances of getting something more with the character from LEGO. I do think there's a chance at least one new mold could be introduced in the Daily Bugle, as it wouldn't be the first time a D2C introduced a new part. I do hope any other new characters in the Bugle will be detailed to a satisfying degree. Punisher has been hinted to have dual molded legs (the same as on Black Cat), so that's a plus. Hopefully Daredevil will have leg printing like the LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 version it's been compared to.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

My main concern is that unless Daredevil starts prominently featuring in PG-13 MCU installments/shows, the mature nature of his Netflix series could make LEGO only be willing to include him (and other characters associated with him) in 18+ sets like the Daily Bugle. I'm still disappointed that the large torso piece used by Mr. Incredible in the LEGO Incredibles video game doesn't exist as an actual part, because it would be really useful for larger characters that don't need to be bigfigs. Ideally, Elektra should probably just get a new hairpiece similar to what she got in the video games. I'm not sure how a printed cap would look, and as you mention, part 11254pb02 wouldn't get her usual hair design quite right despite the molded cap looking very close. I think Elektra has been drawn with thicker curly hair, but it was shortlived, and I don't believe she really wore the cap during that time either.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I definitely agree that Kingpin, Bullseye and Elektra would be missed opportunities to not include, as this is probably their only real opportunity to show up in LEGO form unless we get more sets with Daredevil in the future. Kingpin could reuse the Hagrid body mold, Bullseye doesn't need any special parts and can use the same black and white dual molded legs that will be included with Black Cat and presumably Punisher, and Elektra could just reuse the Pirate Princess hairpiece (piece 11254pb02).

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Really, I'm hoping for a few more Daredevil/Defenders related characters to be included, in particular: Jessica Jones (also worked at the Bugle at one point if I remember correctly) Kingpin Bullseye Elektra Those would be my top wants. While new versions of Luke Cage and Iron Fist would be great, they probably have a better chance of showing up elsewhere compared to the others I listed. Hopefully the 14+ number we got means we get more than 14 minifigures. Having around 16-18 minifigures would give more room for new characters to balance out all the repeat characters we seem to be getting.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Wait, when did he say Scorpion wouldn't be in it? I thought it was Lizard and Electro that he ruled out.
  16. spiderfan2000

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Falconfan already confirmed that Lizard won't be in the set, and he stated there will be no bigfig which probably rules out Rhino. How many of the rest we get depends on if we're just getting six Spider-Man villains total, or if we're getting additional villains that won't be considered part of the Sinister Six. Scorpion has the most relevance in a Daily Bugle set at least.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

I wonder if Black Cat (if LEGO treats her as a villain), Venom and Green Goblin will be counted as members of the Sinister Six for the purposes of this set, despite not being members normally. It's worth noting that Black Cat and Venom are a part of the Daily Bugle art piece collection that Falconfan is using in his stories. If the whole lineup is from that collection, I could see the lineup at this point being, Black Cat, Venom, Green Goblin, Mysterio, Doc Ock (as a prominent villain and most consistent member of the Six I'd be very surprised if he weren't included), and Scorpion (Haven't gotten him in a while, and has a prominent history with Jameson)
  18. spiderfan2000

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Considering that Vulture and Mysterio became reoccurring inclusions in comic Spider-Man sets after their MCU debuts, I wouldn't be surprised if Electro's MCU debut leads to him being included in comic based sets later on.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

That seems probable, though I would hope for a more detailed version. The Bridge Battle version will probably remain the definitive Goblin in my collection with it's arm printing and dual molded legs.

Made out of plastic AND no Obama? This just keeps getting more and more disappointing. Now how am I supposed to replicate the variant cover to Amazing Spider-Man #583 in LEGO form?

    Harry Potter 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

Looking over this, if Hagrid's Hut is retiring at the end of this year, and the Hogwarts Express next year, and taking into account that Quidditch Match is already retired, I wonder if at least some of those will get remakes next year. I would assume those would all be sets that LEGO would want constantly available. Diagon Alley being available through the end of 2024 seems like a good sign, as that would allow plenty of time for expansions to be released. To get a reasonably complete display, we'd probably need a set with the opposite side of the Alley, and individual sets for Gringotts, The Leaky Cauldron, and Borgin and Burkes. I don't think it seems too unreasonable to get those by 2024, especially if the 2DC this year ends up being Diagon Alley themed.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

In hindsight, 2016 was probably the best year overall for Spider-Man sets. There were no random Spider-vehicle builds, and we got the iconic Ghost Rider cycle and the awesome Bridge Battle set. In terms of minifigure selection, over three sets, we got a solid mix of Spider-Men (Spider-Man, Scarlet Spider, Spider-Girl), other superheroes (Ghost Rider and White Tiger), civilians (Aunt May and Captain Stacy), and many of the best villains we've gotten (Green Goblin with duel molded legs and arm printing, Doc Ock with duel molded legs, classic Vulture, and the only real versions of Scorpion, Kraven, and Hobgoblin we've gotten, all of which would be difficult to improve upon) I do think the upcoming Daily Bugle will probably be the single best Spider-Man set, though the rest of the Spider-Man sets this year have been far from impressive for the most part.

    Marvel Superheroes 2021 - Rumors & Discussion

In bohner_brick's latest story, he seems to have backtracked a bit on his previous story about Daredevil, stating that he should have worded it more carefully, and that hints from others indicate the minifigure will be leaked "soon". He also stated that many will find the design "familiar". The story was accompanied by part of the music score from the Daredevil Netflix series, which has some interesting implications.
