I'm seriously in love! The coral formations up close are a real beauty to behold. The only thing I would do it tile the base or roughen it up with sand and so on. I love how you've used almost every single colour in the palette! :classic:

Thanks so much for the kind words and suggestion, paupadros :classic:

This is a beautiful, colourful and highly detailed model. I love the video you've made as well, it was pretty darn relaxing, watching the camera rotate around the model. I would buy this and have just given it my support over on LEGO Ideas. Good luck! :classic:

Hi Bricked1980,  I saw your support!  Thank you very much!!

    That's simply stunning, beverly888!

It looks absolutely realistic and I like all these many details you included.

Of course I voted for it on ideas - if it was released as a set, I absolutely would buy it. A decent sized aquarium as a Lego set is definately overdue!

I also voted! It is indeed a very sweet set with lovely details and many varied types of sea plants.

so how does one go about sorting 10 buckets/drawers filled to the edge...

i kinda feel like starting all over again collecting sometimes.

I had a similar situation a few months back when I acquired two five gallon pails of used Friends sets.

First, I did a rough sort by size.  Larger  plates, windows and doors in one pile.  Brick and medium to smaller plate in another pile.  Then all the little stuff in the third.

Second, I sorted it by my normal method -- colour and piece type.

With so much brick that you have, I would do several sorts to get the lot into manageable chunks.  You don't have to accomplish everything at once.  Be patient and do a bit at a time.

    Hope that helps.

So impressive!  Definitely motivation to start an underwater area of the City.  Love how you used the man-eating plant costume head underwater as well as your method for the school of fish.  Thanks for sharing!

  5. Over the course of three months or so, I designed the LEGO 360 Coral Reef Aquarium as a submission for LEGO Ideas, that I submitted a few days ago.  I'm so excited that it's already got 171 supporters :sweet:

This version of the aquarium was based on two others I'd built over the last year.  It's fully enclosed by transparent panels so you can view the interior from all angles to find many delightful corals, two schools of fish and loads of interesting sub-dioramas.  On top is a detachable simulated LED light.  The base is sturdy with discreet handles that allow you to re-position the aquarium to see inside from every vantage point.

To set this model apart from other LEGO aquariums out there is mine is built with modules.  You simply build each module then set them into preset locations inside the aquarium.  I also steered away from elements that others used in their aquariums so as not to copycat other great ideas.

If you so wish, please support my LEGO Ideas MOC at:

Excellent creations so far, those two are beautiful and exquisite!

I decided to make a Brickheadz version of what is without question or debate the second most widely beloved Collectable Minifigure of all time (ok a bit of sarcasm there with that description ):

Now, isn't he the cutest!  Love the smile, hat, buttons and shield.

Very nice build. Much more active than most BrickHeadz.

I didn't like the BrickHeadz either. My local LUG decided to do BrickHeadz for the building challenge this month. Unlike you I haven't bought any of them. My wife said I should get the Go Brick Me set. When I mentioned how Aquaman's prints would be good for my idea she said I should buy that. I decided to stick to not buying anything. I will admit the designs have grown on me after building one. When I get a chance I'll post my build up.

Thanks, dulsi.  When I first imagined her, I thought of making her in a running stance, but realized she'd fall over with her legs positioned like that.  Looking forward to seeing your build.

    Cheers!

I never saw the point of LEGO's BrickHeadz line.  They're block-y and all seemed to look alike.  All the same, when I stumbled across Belle on sale, I'd bought multiples of her for parts.

Then Rebrick announced the BrickHeadz Selfie contest and I thought I'd see what I could do.  My first go ended pretty quickly and in failure, which doubled my conviction BrickHeadz really aren't my thing.  A few days later, I perused the variety of entries.  The successful selfies were uniquely dressed, had a strong theme, and were well photographed.

I brain-stormed what I might create as I rummaged my brick.  The rules stated the selfie didn't have to look exactly like the builder.  I took that to mean I could imagine myself as anyone as long as I was truthful about my goals, world view and personal aspirations.  After I constructed the butterfly companion for my selfie and ensured it could "fly" without seeing the support structure, my second attempt  went well enough that I entered her in the Rebrick contest.

Here's my Lepidopterist (butterfly scientist) BrickHeadz Selfie :classic:

I can't believe how much I love her.  She's the cutest thing I've ever made from LEGO, and I've been carrying her around all day.  Indeed, she's my alter ego, at least for the time being.  Thank goodness I gave myself a second chance and never gave up.

    Cheers!
