  1. There will be a remote controlled Batmobile this year, controlled via your phone or tablet. I don't know what type of brick will do the controlling though.
  2. I second that, a PF S motor is long overdue!
  3. I don't work for TLG, if I did I wouldn't be sharing stuff on here, I'm just a regular guy with a passion for technic and sharing
  4. Alright alright, you are technically correct, the best type of correct
  5. Actually no, there's a Ninjago H1 set this year that has 1 Claas tire, a big robot of some sort.
  6. There will be no new PF this year as far as we know now, 42082 will have 1 XL motor, we still don't know what motor will be in 42080, but probably an M or maybe even an L, although I doubt that last one. There was nothing new about Mindstorms in the 2018 catalogue, just the good old same EV3.
  7. Agreed, if those valves are as awesome as we think I'll want way more than 2
  8. So let's talk about pricing, eh? 42080 is pretty similar to 42053 in many ways imo, it has the same amount and types of pneumatic cylinders, I don't think the part count is that different either, and before anyone goes off telling me "there's no way this set has more than 700 parts!!11!1", go read the 42053 thread where everyone was saying the exact same stuff and even went as far to say TLG were straight up lying about the part count printed on the box. The noteable difference is the presence of PF. 42053 had a price tag of 90 euro upon release according to BrickSet, although it was 110 euro here in Sweden for some reason. I'm guessing this set will land somewhere at 120-130 euro, and after what we've learned in the past days I have to say that this is the first of the H2 sets I'll get, those new valves look very interesting. I will know the prices of the H2 sets for sure at the start of April when we get the price list for all of the H2 sets, and of course I'll let you guys know as soon as I do.
  9. I've spent a solid 5 minutes now eyeing over the image in the catalogue which is a bit better quality than the picture of it, and that is definitely a new valve with an axle hole. Interesting that the input/outputs are on the "thin" side of the valve if that makes sense, I reckon it will make it easier to integrate the valves into builds.
  10. If we're really getting a new valve, and it looks like we are, I really hope that it's one that allows for very fine input control, the current valves are not the best at that when you motorize them imo
  11. There's a lovely picture of 42080, it's about half of an A4 page of the actual set rather than the 5x5 cm ones of the boxes, so you can make out a lot of nice details. So where is this picture then? Oh, I have no idea
  12. Bringing up an already well discussed topic again, about 42082, I spent a good half hour at work today eyeing through the 2018 catalogue and came to some conclusions. The panels on the boom are 100% 3x11, and the dogbones are the 3x5 ones. At first glance I really thought the panels were 5 wide but there is no way, they are definitely 3. I'm 99% certain that we'll get the massive turntable quarter rings in black, the ones introduced in 42055, this will add a lot of playability of the set, if you take 42009 for example it has an awesome boom but the turntable can't support lifting anything above 100g basically without starting to bend like hell, a crane with turntable support like 42055 would be amazing. And last I can with 99% confirm that 42082 is the flagship. If you look at 2016 when the Porsche was released, 42055 was the true flagship IMO. Sure, the Porsche was way more exclusive and way more expensive, but 42055 was an incredibly groundbreaking set in terms of size and piece count, completely destroying every other flagship there has been with a good margin, and then some. The box had the front flap that is iconic for flagship sets and so does 42082, I'm not saying the Porsche wasn't some kind of flagship, I'm just saying the Porsche (and most likely 42083 as well) is a flagship in a bit of its own "sub-theme". With all of that in mind, I'm afraid that a lot of things point towards 42083 being a new supercar like the Porsche, personally I would love for it to be something else though as I find cars to be very boring technic sets. They do look incredibly good on your shelf though
  13. I know, but it's unavailable for stores to order, which means the stores that are still selling it are selling the stock they have left, and most likely so are TLG. It makes sense that they would keep a bunch of them to themselves to sell on their webshop rather than selling it to stores, since they're easily making twice as much money selling a set on their webshop compared to selling it to a store.
  14. I was only talking about the price per part. And also it is an amazing set imo simply because of how massive it is, that set is what really sparked my passion for technic after some 12 dark years, it truly is a behemoth. About 42056, it isn't listed in the 2018 catalogue at all and hasn't been available for stores to order from TLG for at least half a year now. In other words, it's discontinued.
  15. Isn't 42055 the set that gives you most value for your money since like, ever? About 5 cents per part, it's a great parts pack with its 4k pieces as well, and despite what people may say, size does matter
  16. Some quick info about when the 2017 sets will discontinue, so you can get the sets you want before they'll be gone. Note that this is just when stores can't order the sets anymore, so you can probably still find them for a couple weeks/months after these dates as the stores sell the last of their stock. Sets that discontinue in Dec 2018 42055 42057 42058 42059 42060 42062 42063 42065 42064 42068 will discontinue in July 2018 42070 doesn't have a date yet so it's safe to assume that it's going to stick around for 2019 as well.
  17. There were a lot of secrecy about 42078 actually, for instance its image is blacked out in the 2018 catalogue we got just like 42083 is. Proper strange as the set was well known and started showing up in stores around the same time we got the catalogue. Same thing on excel file we got a couple months ago from TLG, all the sets were named except for 42078, it's like they were trying to keep it a secret eventhough they must have known it was more than clear what the set was going to be.
  18. I'm guessing we're far from the only store getting our H1 delivery on the 15th ish then. Stores that sell LEGO have subscriptions, and there are different levels depending on how much LEGO your store sells, higher level means higher priority. A subscription means TLG tells your store "we're gonna send you this news package containing these sets on this date" and we can't really change that, we just have to accept that if we want to sell their product we have to play by their rules, and it's the same for every other store selling their product. It makes it A LOT easier for TLG to handle all deliveries for new releases.
  19. I'm willing to bet my left nut that it's the same bucket, the shape is identical and after all, it is a Volvo bucket! Can't wait to see some teaser videos and images in the coming months, and until then I'm gonna keep on eyeing through the 2018 catalogue
  20. A Swedish webshop has the H1 sets available for preorder now, set for delivery on Jan 15th. Prices are not bad imo 42071 15 Eur 42072/42073 20 Eur 42074 30 Eur 42075 36 Eur 42076 70 Eur 42077 95 Eur 42078 159 Eur 42084 7,5 Eur This webshop is one of the cheaper ones here when it comes to lego, for instance they sold 42055 for 190 Eur when it was released, while most others charged 250... Regarding 42081, it can raise/lower bucket (think you can tilt the bucket as well, I'll have a look at the catalogue tomorrow if I remember), and the bulky rear can move up/backwards if that makes sense. I think the rear moves in unison with raising the bucket, as a sort of weight balancing mechanism, at least that's the conclusion I reached while looking at the image, and it would be a pretty nice feature. When the bucket is lifting stuff the center of mass will be more to the front, so the rear moves backwards to balance the center of mass more towards the middle of the vehicle.
  21. The LEGO shop is usually more expensive when it comes to sets I've noticed, they stick with the prices they recommend the stores to use as well and a lot of stores do because the profits will be great, but there's always a bunch of stores who will undercut them by a good margin. Here in Sweden the difference between buying directly from LEGO and a webshop is often close to 20% cheaper...
  22. We haven't received our H1 sets at our store yet either (Sweden). Estimated delivery is sometime middle of next week, so wait a bit and I'm sure they'll get them in stock.
  23. ^ I kind of agree with you about 42080, if it would have a manual pump and the option to add PF it would be a fair bit cheaper. And I wouldn't mind the new large pump appearing in another set than 42053, it's a bloody great pump and prices for it dropping a bit on BL would be welcome. I will definitely be getting all the H2 sets, but if 42083 is another expensive af super car like the Porsche I'm going to skip that. Only reason I bought my Porsche is because I got it be for 150 euro, never ever in my life would I pay closer to twice that for a set with less than 3k pieces and no PF or pneumatics.
  24. It's a great display, but that's about it. I picked mine up for 150 euro, box still sealed, and that's about the max i would pay for a set like this. The only cool thing about it is the gearbox and LEGO totally wrecked that by messing up the instructions. It was never worth what they originally asked for it, and I would have never bought it if I didn't come across it for 150 euro. Looks bloody good on the shelf though!
  25. No its not certain, just speculation due to how it's packaged. When I order lego to our store, all sets have a minimum buy of 1 carton, a carton can hold anywhere from 1 to 10 sets, this is based on size of the set and price of it. Mindstorms comes 1 set per carton because it's pricey af, the Porsche was the same way and now 42083 is going to be packaged in the same way, which means a very cool and very expensive set. 42055 and 42070 were both packaged 2 sets/carton, despite being pretty expensive and large sets. 42082 has a front flap on the box, I'm guessing that 42082 will be the flagship and 42083 will be something exclusive and cool like the Porsche, hopefully this time the high price will actually reflect how awesome the set is.
