LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Only one non-bust, non-D-0 set in the April wave? Do we know what it is? Mandalorian/Yoda Brickheadz looks cute, but I still hate Brickheadz.

    Monkey Kid (“Leaf”) Theme Discussion

Counterpoint; based on the leaks we’ve seen, the summer wave of Ninjago - which will be available concurrently with the first wave of MK - will actually be stepping away from the standard vehicle fare. Out of the six main release sets, the leaks point to two location builds, two dragons, a mech and . . whatever Zane’s Rhino/Mino Beast ends up being. The only part of that that’s likely to have any overlap with a ‘standard’ Chima/Nexo Knights-esque Big Bang theme is the ‘Fire Rock Mech’. And then there’s the Legacy stuff, which is the Destiny’s Bounty, a remake of the Kai Fighter and a 4+ Jay’s Storm Fighter remake. I don’t think there’s a single wheel in that entire wave. Also, I assume you’re talking about the average Western buyer, but we need to remember that LEGO’s not making this theme for Western audiences, they’re doing it for the Chinese market. Who will be aware of and appreciate all the differences with Ninjago’s Japanese fare, and all the more so since it seems like Summer 2020 Ninjago actually isn’t Japanese at all. And apparently Hidden Side’s going to keep going concurrently with both of them.

    Monkey Kid (“Leaf”) Theme Discussion

Elves would like a word with you. So would Hidden Side, for that matter - I know, there’s technology, but stuff like the School Bus honestly makes me think more of 1980s Ghostbusters than anything futuristic.

    Monkey Kid (“Leaf”) Theme Discussion

I can’t think of anything else it could be. Bulls exist in Chinese mythology, we know there aren’t going to be any more Prime Empire sets this year (ask again in 2025 when Legacy catches up to Season 12) and I can’t imagine that cyber bull guy being in a City or Creator or Hidden Side set. I’m still going to put him (and anything else from Monkie Kid with that aesthetic) with the Prime Empire stuff though.

    LEGO Ninjago 2020

One thing I’m noticing as a red flag; We’re getting Spinner sets for Cole, Lloyd and Kai, right? But there’s also spinners included in the Journey and the Dungeon sets. They might just repeat the spinners for one of those three, but personally it makes a lot more sense to put spinners for Jay and Zane in those two sets. And I’m fairly sure that Zane’s in the Dungeon, so if Jay actually is in the Journey then I’m hopeful it’ll be his spinner. Also, best I can tell, the Rhino Beast looks surprisingly cool and overbuilt. Definitely something I could see having an alternate build to transform into part of the board game, which would be swell.

    LEGO Ninjago 2020

Trolls and goblins? Aww, I was looking forward to the skeletons . . also, alright! The Sorceror’s Dragon definitely comes with a side build that’s part of the board game. Though I can’t really make out much about the Journey . . other than that it’s disappointing that we get three heroes and one villain. Couldn’t have replaced one of the ninjas with a skeleton? Unfortunately I don’t see any game parts in the ninja vehicle sets. Oh well, it looks like this might be another wave where I only get the villain-oriented stuff.
  7. So, I bet everyone thought that the three (four of you count the Brickheadz) sets we got this year would be the end of it, right? WRONG! https://brickingaround.com/2019/11/05/lego-announces-2020-chinese-new-year-sets/ Totally unexpected, but totally awesome! It’ll probably be just as overpriced as the previous wave, but these sets look gorgeous. I particularly like the recoloured Parker beanie/hair mould and the Lion parade floats. Discuss! We’ve got another article! https://www.brothers-brick.com/2019/11/05/lego-reveals-two-new-chinese-new-year-sets-for-2020-that-combine-into-one-gigantic-festival-news/

    LEGO Hidden Side 2020

The point of this theme is to be a better CITY than CITY while throwing in just enough play features and ridiculous vehicles to keep kids entertained.

    LEGO Hidden Side 2020

Hey Falconfan, can you tell us yet whether or not any of the sets from the upcoming wave are set in the ghost world like the Hidden Side Portal is?

    LEGO Hidden Side 2020

Hey, I just realised that both Ninjago and Hidden Side have small waves this summer. And if the leaks we’ve gotten are accurate, there’s going to be more sets in Monkie Kid than Ninjago and HS combined. Does anyone else think they slashed the set budget for both themes to allot more to a massive first wave for Monkie Kid?

    Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

The skeptical part of me expects them to just reuse the same Iron Man, Cap, Thor, Captain Marvel, Hawkeye, etc figures from the last couple of waves. Though it would be really great if they were nice enough to give us a new Iron Man in the big Avengers Tower - it just so happens that there are exactly two open spaces in my Hall of Armour, so on the off chance it is a new Iron Man and not a repeat of the one in the mech set, I can get both and my Hall will be complete for the time being.

Two Avengers Towers AND a Helicarrier? Colour me impressed and a little bit skeptical, but I’ll reserve judgement. The five-storey Avengers Tower sounds awesome.

    Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I so called it about Iron Man being in the Tower. Loki too? The Tower sounds like a great set. I’m nervous about the Helicarrier, since it’d have to be big and I don’t know if LEGO would do two big sets like that in one wave. Can’t wait for pictures!

There’s a comic sneak peek on #legoleaks that might give us some insight on what to expect from the Prime Empire TV season.

    LEGO Ninjago 2020

Is there anyone who’s got the Empire Dragon and/or Empire Twmple of Madness and can confirm whether or not they come with extra stickers? I’ve been trawling reviews but no one shows the sticker sheets for those sets.

    LEGO Ninjago 2020

If the leaked picture of the Fire/Rock Mech is anything to go by, we were wrong to expect them all to connect. Unless there’s a side build in that set that wasn’t in the image or it has a B-model or something . . point is, as much as I’d love to combine all six sets in the wave into a massive Dungeon board game, it’s unfortunately a lot more likely that only the actual Dungeon and the Journey set will have the board game elements, and the other four sets will just be standard vehicle/animal fare. And then the Spinners will be the dice and maybe, just maybe, if we’re lucky, have some kind of added compatibility with the game. Which will be kind of a let down overall but I guess it’s not reasonable to expect the set designers to be hamstrung by a board game gimmick across the line . . I guess . .

    LEGO Ninjago 2020

The Dungeon box art clearly showed a new hexagonal spinner design, and Harkonin confirmed; the new spinners will be hexagonal, presumably with a number printed on each side, to function as ‘dice’ for the board game. I don’t see why board game equals Technic?

    LEGO Ninjago 2020

We can work this out by process of elimination. We know Cole, Lloyd and Zane are in the Dungeon. Zane’s also in the Rhino Beast. Kai and Cole are in the Fire Rock Mech, and Wu’s going to be in Wu’s Battle Dragon. It’s in the name. It’s obviously possible that a second Ninja will be in the Rhino Beast but small sets like the Battle Dragon rarely have more than one Ninja. Given that last year the ShuriCopter came with both Zane and Jay, I doubt they’d do that twice. More likely the Rhino Beast also comes with Nya or a repeat of Kai or Lloyd. That leaves the Skull Sorceror’s Dragon and Journey to the Dungeon. The Dragon will probably have two Ninja, but they just did a set with both Jay and Nya, so it’s unlikely they’d both be in that one. My guess? Nya joins Zane in the Rhino Beast, Jay comes in both the Journey and the Dragon, and the Dragon probably also comes with a repeat of Lloyd, while the Journey comes with Kai.

    LEGO Hidden Side 2020

Does the Castle have a similar layout to the Knighton Castle from 2017 Nexo Knights? Obviously the aesthetic will be totally different, but the general shape?

    Marvel Superheroes 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Well . . um . . well . . um. I just don’t know what to say about this. It’s awful? It’s ugly? It’s not even original? It doesn't even share the redeeming trait of last year’s Crawler by using at least sixteen of those new 1x1 SNOT parts? Where do I begin? As a rule, I tend to find something redeeming in even the worst sets and buy them anyway. The Spider-Bike last year, the Spider-Jet this year, those were acceptable. But this . . I’ve never given up on a set and just ordered the exclusive minifigure on BrickLink before but this might be the first time. If there actually is some kind of story here, involving Venom taking over the Crawler from last year, then I guess that’s cool? But just . . . I’d rather buy another CITY police vehicle. There, I said it. This is a new low.

    LEGO Ninjago 2020

That’s the thing. He was right about the Spinjitzu tornados functioning as dice, but wrong about each set having an add-on for the Dungeon board game. Because I’m looking at the Fire Rock Mech and unless it has an alternate build or something it does not attach to that Dungeon. . . . OMG an alternate build for each set to allow them to be added to the Dungeon actually makes perfect sense and would be really cool . .

    LEGO Hidden Side 2020

Also, forgot to mention this before, but I picked up a Subway set at my local Target and ended up being lucky enough to get the ghost accessory pack in spring green. So, awesome. Does anyone have any more info about what’s going on? Because variances like this between sets - some Subways having it in trans green, some in spring green - I’ve never even heard of LEGO pulling anything like it before.
