Need help with scaling
17Liftarm posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hi, i'm having problems with consistency of finding the correct scale when building with unimog tires (Tire 94.3 x 38 R) are you building on the 1:10, 1:12 scale or 1:11 scale? The unimog tires are about 4 1/4 inches in diameter. Some semi tires are 22 1/2 and 36 inches in diameter. A semi is about 8 1/2 feet wide. Do the math: -
MY 8258 MOD
17Liftarm replied to dr_spock's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was pretty disappointed with the 5th wheel on this model. I actually just took it off completely. I'm not too surprised that the it's based of a European truck, Lego loves flat nose trucks. I wish they would come out with more long nose trucks like 42078 and 8285. I love our good 'ol American long noses. -

That's insane..... now someone has to build one bigger than that. I kinda like how it still looks like 42055. -
Dead Font Axle
17Liftarm replied to 17Liftarm's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks, i'll take a look. -
So most everyone i've seen likes to add drive to their front axles. I'm having trouble building a dead front axle for my truck. I'm no good at steering geometry either. Here's what i've come up with so far. Right now it works for what it is, but could use improvement. If anyone has any ideas or links, please share. I'll try to add some pics.
