Lord of the Rings Ongoing Discussion

I'd prefer GWPs to not be related to specific sets, since that can make the associated sets feel somewhat incomplete later down the line if you miss out on their initial release. Something like the Eiffel minifigure feels like an essential part of the Tower, imo. Otherwise, they're a nice way to put out smaller sets that don't easily fit into any existing themes. I'm not a big fan of the intentional effort Lego seems to be going through to obscure their release windows though.
  2. Sally has two faces. The only case I remember where there was a discrepancy between the official images and figures was vacation Batgirl who had leg printing not depicted on the images.
  3. The reviewer might have just overlooked it. It's a very small piece in a dark color.
  4. Is Sally a new (or returning) color? I thought she was yellowish green at first, then light aqua, but it looks like it might be more of a "mint" color I haven't seen before. Edit: nevermind, light aqua has always had a greenish tint to it.
  5. I agree that there's something off about most of the Disney minifigures. Obviously the ones with custom heads are spot on, but they go too far in the other direction and no longer look lego-like enough. Even with standard heads it's hard to strike a balance. Jack's huge eyes are appropriate for the character, but look out of place on a minifigure. Sally has the opposite problem, her eyes are too small to really invoke the character for me. That being said, I think that the designers did a good job of walking that thin stylistic line. Hercules, Hades, and Jafar are all solid (although I feel like Jafar should have had printing on his robes) and I may warm up to Jack and Sally's over time.
  6. Hades looks great, the new dress piece is interesting. It looks around the height of the old slope pieces with a 2x4 footprint. It would work well for grim reaper customs. The flames are kind of a boring accessory though, I would have preferred for them to have matched his (medium?) blue hair. Hercules is also pretty much perfect. I dig the shield print. Jack and Sally's proportions feel a little off, but the prints are excellent. Very glad that they were included.
  7. The eye of the Fates or standard fire pieces seem like some of the more obvious choices for a Hades accessory. An second 'angry' head with orange flames would be nice, but not very likely.
  8. Not really feeling most of this CMF. The Wizard of Oz figures are great looking, but it's not a theme that I particularly care about. Very similar variations of common figures, I'm pretty tired of costumes at this point, and the band's aesthetic was already done better with N-pop girl. Hooded Lucy and Lincoln are some of the best looking figures in the post-apocalyptic side of the theme, but you can only have so many characters in black and brown leather before it starts to lose its novelty.
  9. Looking at some of the movie props, Mr. and Mrs. Weasley's could be potentially be MDF (if not dark orange like Newt's), Lucious' looks closest to tan, and dark bley could work for Sirus.
  10. I'm hoping that the upcoming set with Ollivander rounds out the existing wands with a few more colors like medium dark flesh, light tan, and maybe dark red.

Any idea what the US price for the Dockyards will be?

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

We already knew the other two sets (car/willow and spider scene) were from the first few films so it wasn't that big of a leap. Given what we know so far, the wave might just be focused on first two books [edit: AnnaBuildsLego beat me to it].

    Harry Potter 2018 - Rumors & Discussion

I don't believe them anymore. The leaks got a few things right about the Great Hall, but also made some completely wrong claims about it including Voldermort, Dementors, and Filch. Also, why would Nick be in both the Hall and the CMF?

    LEGO Ninjago 2018

Ninjago City's price-to-piece ratio was great but it wasn't really much different then the other non-licensed D2C sets released last year. It just had a lot more minifigures.

    LEGO Ninjago 2018

Unless I'm forgetting something, that makes it the most expensive non-D2C set ever followed by the Solo Falcon which is around $180. I just don't get LEGO's intent behind this set at all. Its way too expensive for kids or parents to even consider (almost 2× any other big set on the shelf) and on top of that is from a year-old movie that didn't actually do very well. On the plus side, clearance!
