Yeah, I even posted a review of it on my YouTube channel *cough*shameless self promotion*cough*. Long story short, I really really like it. Like Fenghuang0296 said, there's lots of space on the lower levels, some of it a bit under-utilised. In contrast, my biggest complaint, is the top floor is too crowded. Especially when the floor space is so shallow. despite that though, it is an excellent set. Definitely one of my favourite in the theme so far.

I agree, the lack of physical big ghosts is one of the things holding this theme back I feel. Still can't believe we never even got a minifig of Lady E in the end...

I'm looking to replace the paper sails on my Black Pearl with some custom ones. Don't worry, I'm not binning the originals! I'm planning on storing them away safely. They're not the most durable and I don't want them deteriorating whilst the set is on display. So I want to make templates of them and then make some out of a material like the one LEGO uses for the soft, spongy capes. Any suggestions on what material would be suitable? Been looking to try and find the name of the material LEGO uses for the softer capes but no luck so far!

Definitely gonna be getting the Indominus Rex vs. Ankylosaurus set. The missus got the original 2015 Indominus, but I think this one looks sooooo much better. The Ankylosaurus looks pretty awesome as well and I remember she was the first one to put up any kind of fight against Indominus in the film. The main build looks good as well. Still, it's interesting that this is almost a remake of a previous JW set and is based on the first film. Everything else is based on the cartoon, right?

I think the set looks great! But my first reaction was that it looks like more of a shipwreck whereas the original submission looked like a pirate port that had cannibalised bits of ships into the structures. Then I saw that you can actually turn this into the complete ship and it kinda validated my original impression. I think this looks like a brilliant set and I love the tributes to the old Pirate theme in the packaging design, minifigures and the way that when in the ship configuration this is basically a remake of the classic Black Seas Barracuda. BUT it's so far removed from the original submission this almost feels like a set they were already planning and just slapped the LEGO Ideas banner on when The Pirate Bay passed 10,000 supporters. The original submission felt like a little pirate town that different ships would visit, whereas this feels like the pirates have just been shipwrecked and are making the best of the situation.

Loving the look of the new Hidden Side minifigures. Especially Vaughn Jackson. The character looks epic, but could also use those prints for some customer Western characters.

Just watched the latest episode! That Ghost car looks like it would make a brilliant set! and I'm excited by the introduction of the new Ghost-hunter ghost character. He definitely does have a Monster Fighters feel to him.
I might be over-reaching here, but could Rami be a nod to Sam Raimi, director of The Evil Dead? The names aren't exactly the same, but it's what I instantly thought of when I read it.
Considering all the speculation of this theme getting cancelled, it doesn't feel like this is winding down anytime soon! -
Did another World Tour idea video if anyone fancies a watch and a giggle!

No Doctor Fate in the Poll options? Nooooooo!

*loud sigh* I get that they're giving kids the core characters outside the sets and that's nice and all but this is disappointing. Hopefully as she's the last one of the main cast we can look forward to some more unique minifigures. If they are insistent on only giving us wave 1 minifigures, at least make it something interesting like the train driver ghost or the chef from the Shrimp Shack ( I didn't get those two sets so would actually welcome the figures from them ).

Interesting that different countries are getting different minifigures. Besides the pizza delivery guy, which was a mash up of different minifigure pieces, all we've had so far have been the core characters from Wave 1. -

Boo-yah! This is fantastic news!

3 hours ago, Accio Lego said:Non-licensed CMFs have always had 16 characters, so there’s nothing to dial back to for series 20.
As for why we’re going back to 16 for the licensed series, if I had to hazard a guess it would be the relatively poor performance of the various Lego movie series (my local Barnes and Noble still has some TLM2 bags). The marketing department has probably also told Lego that with the price hike collectors are more likely to spring for full series only if there are a more manageable number of characters.
Series 10, 17 and 18 all had 17 minifigures. Seeing as Series 20 is another milestone series like Series 10, I would have expected more than 16.
-
Interesting that they've dialled back both the DC and now HP minifigure series to 16. I wonder what the reasoning behind the scenes is for this and if Series 20 will also follow suit?

3 minutes ago, Guyon2002 said:Really? It was fairly obvious they weren't going to do that, LEGO tries to steer away from directly giving us death scenes as much as they can
Yeah, but I see it as kinda in the same vein as them producing a set based on Anakin vs Obi-Wan in RotS, or Vader vs Luke vs Emperor in RotJ.
-
Little disappointed that the Observation Tower isn't being based on Dumbledore's death scene, judging by the minifigure selection anyway.

Dang! I thought voting was open until the 31st, so I missed out! My vote would have been for the Republic Gunship. Which confuses me because I'm a massive Empire fan and love that scene where Luke get's his robotic hand... but yeah i just think the Gunship would make for a better LEGO UCS set.

Yep, I said as much in my video. It would be a complete no-brainer. I loved finding the Blaze Comics store in LEGO DC Super Villains and seeing all the LEGO'fied comic covers. Just need some more real life printed tiles now!

However, £3.49 is a good price, people keep complaining about it but there really isn’t any need to. When the series first launched in 2010, they were £1.99, the minifigure with the highest piece count had 7 pieces. In this DC series the minfigure with the lowest piece count has 7 pieces. Back in series 1, they had no back printing, arm printing, side leg printing, no alternate face, no dual moulded legs and less moulds made. You can’t expect the quality to improve drastically and there be no price increase. I am 100% happy with the price increase.
1 hour ago, Guyon2002 said:Maybe the price isn't that bad in comparison to the first CMF series but this latest price increase was just weird and stupid. They upped the price in a lot of countries (luckily not mine) while nothing about the amount of pieces or quality changed enough to actually explain that increase, that's why people are mad about it
Thanks @J4ck! Glad you like the idea. I do agree with @Guyon2002 though. This price increase seems to be unjustified. Yeah, we have those new pieces that allow the minifigures to be posed differently. But that doesn't maych the price increase and the minifigures themselves are lacking in terms of development compared to previous series'. I don't think I've ever seen a series that reused so many existing pieces and prints before!

Would love to know what people think of this idea. I think that it really could have improved the DC minifigures series!

Great review! Love all the photos! Superb quality.
I'm a massive fan of this set. Love all the different references. And the minifigure selection is great! -
The artist that draws the Hidden Side comic commented on my latest review video and said that he designed the latest villain Colonel Vendette himself based on the writer's description. Which is pretty awesome! But I'm also kinda sad as it lessens the chance that we'll be getting a big-fig of the character in an upcoming set.

Baby Triceratops? Like the Duplo one from before? Or actual LEGO system style?

I really hope it's not another plane but let's face it, it's gonna be! Do we think they'll even commit to it being invisible by using all trans pieces? Or that it's gonna have a coloured technic frame, similar to the "clear" bit between the twin engines of Anakin's podracer?

Any plans to add 25976? The hairpiece from the Series 16 Spy minifigure?
