    Windhoff MPV [wip]

yes unfortunately. Plenty of other events on in my life, sapping time from this project. Also been unsuccessful at obtaining drawings and pics (other than publicly online) to help provide reference

Agreed. Its simple design, allows for mods or even left alone. Its the only one I actually want to buy.

Awesome. I love fire stations (especially modular ones). Great job on all the details. I need to finish mine off.

Great work on recreating those real buildings. Hope you get to build them.

    My Second MOC Police Station

Looks good. The interiors on Flickr show a well thoughtout and planned model, although i got a bit lost with the pics. Well done.

All 10 modulars together. Total of 17 sets.

We Australians can and do have a funny and strange sense of humour. Some people love it, some dont understand it and others cant stand it. Reminds me of an old TV show here (Hey Hey Its Saturday back in the late 80's early 90's), New Zealander's whom are often confused as Aussies in Europe etc didnt get it.

Modular MOC - 16 Lake St

Firstly this has nothing to do with any Friends sets/theme. This model is a lego interpretation of an actual building located near me, in fact the name of the model is the real property address. I'm never great with the tiny details nor do I do interiors. for me that's a on day job. The full flickr set is here (incl some real building photos): https://flic.kr/s/aHsk7omPxh The building has several materials used in the external cladding, rendered brick, exposed brick, sheet metal, and includes a curved roof. I used the anatomy of a lego minifig for the mural piece. The area this building is called legoland by real estate agents. Funny how i love the architecture in the place Instagram teaser shots: IMG_9556 by coghilla, on Flickr IMG_9562 by coghilla, on Flickr Brick events Bundaberg by coghilla, on Flickr IMG_9348 by coghilla, on Flickr I design my builds first on paper: IMG_9621 by coghilla, on Flickr rear shot of the building (not enough brick for to finish it. Modular MOC - 16 Lake St

Thanks everyone. This building was a pleasure to built because of "i can see the real thing". I did the front facade first and when i went to do the side and Google street view didn't clearly show it I conducted a site visit. LOL. Thanks for the kudos everyone on the roof. It was a challenge. I couldn't find any example pics to cheat off, so i played with various options. The one i used was the best to achieve the curve of the roof required. At the show all the other exhibitors were also impressed and although they had seen a couple of pics, all conveyed "its better seeing it in the flesh" yes there are many buildings here for a whole modern street scene. In fact I did plan to built the entire joint townhouse development (16,18,20) but settled on 16 & 20, with 20 having slightly changed colours). I prefer modern buildings, over older styling, unusual for someone with an architectural background (I'm an architectural draftsmans by training, but now work on airports). Probably because old her is 40yrs old not 100+. I have a few other project in the pipeline, again based on real buildings. I like to drawup the building first to ensure I can get the sense of scale right. At the show I used my tablet on a slideshow showing the real pics, it was a good move as patrons were able to appreciate the various building techniques used. My street scene at home looks like an earthquake has struck with many buildings in various stages of damage. Hopefully at some point I'll be able to made the mural out of parts instead of a print. Yeah when i showed a friend the model she immediately commented Varsity Lakes (the actual suburb) I'd like to but floor plates are in extremely short supply. Thanks all again.

    Help request: knuckleboom crane

I'm here for a bit of help. I'm looking for some help on how to build a realistic knuckle boom crane in city scale on a 6 wide truck. Different brands include Palfinger, Hiab, Fassi, Effer. There are a few around on the net, and unfortunately Lego is not the best medium to use for a functioning telescopic crane. I'm happy to essentially have two models to use. One in storage/transport mode and the other in the expanded crane mode. A good example of what I would like to achieve is here: http://www.cranesetc.co.uk/library/conradreviews/71193/71193review.htm Cheers everyone

    Help request: knuckleboom crane

Thanks guys/girls. Criga88's is closest to what I'm looking for. Many thanks. lightningtigers reference to selander I've seen before and its a great model, in fact i used their design for the stabilizers of my hookloader trucks. I might use criga88's idea and expand on it. Its a shame we cannot really replicate it in this scale.

    FDNY Rescue 3

As a long time builder of fire stations and trucks i thought it was time to build some quality items. After building some stuff for the train group, I have headed towards the CC series of building. It'll be a while before i could afford the cost of an official set I'll continue to dabble. Anyway here is res3cue firehouse modified to suit the CC modular building series. Photos were taken at a Brick Expo I attended. I will complete the internals at some point. It will return to the Bricks'n'fun store for display on the major layout in a few weeks. MOC: Rescue Train Car

Very slowly. Will be a long work in progress, no quick building for me. I'm stuck on to things at the moment: 1: the crane for the pile rammer 2: the white side sheilds. $ and time big constraints for me, not much of either.

nice windhoff MPV there. I'm working on an 8wide maintenance version.

    Windhoff MPV [wip]

Work continues: As mentioned above i built the second wagon. So each consist is a MPV & wagon and at about 1m long. I've done a rough finish of the cab (which has a removable roof for extra play. I've started to build the crane for the MPV based off the pics. Not happy with what is happening there, so frustrating. I would love to build a working knuckle boom unit at this scale. All the 1x1 dots represent the ISO lock points, 45 foot with enough locks for any 5 foot configuration. Next bit i'm thinking of is better representation of the chassis and the crane. Magnificent build there. Absolutely unreal. .

    Windhoff MPV [wip]

Here is Karl the build foreman reviewing the sketch plans. He has already found the first issue. The one cab has been lowered for review, and if acceptable by the client, the second cab will be also modified. Untitled by coghilla, on Flickr The second issue was the plan were drawn incorrectly. The build length is at 56studs, when it should have been 66studs long. So an extra 10studs will need to be added. I worked out this morning that the scale length i was using (57' was the MTW100 previously constructed. The MPV will be 72' buffer to buffer & allowing 3 studs each end for buffers and couplings). Also i built a second 52' wagon. Here is the preliminary roof arrangement with the cantery wire holders fitted. Untitled by coghilla, on Flickr I also used the graphics from the Windhoff web site http://www.windhoff.de/e/ft/mod/index_mpv.htm to work out the sizings and spacings. I merged the pics and info into this google doc for reference: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1L-3ioku3wuEgh_ZuefZ_2MmSCU3xtgprJgAmWjwIKEA/pub
