  1. Been working on these for a while but finally finished. I have recreated two fantastic models. A Robel Bullok 54.22 and a Plasser & Theurer MTW100. The bullok i first found years ago in a Kibri model train catalogue. I loved it and wanted to build in Lego. I'm no master builder, so couldnt get my head around it. Anyway found this www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=288796. Again wasnt happy or confidant about it. Finally got my backside into gear this year. It was a great experience building these, learning a tonne of building techniques, and using a tonne of reverse engineering, and trial and error. https://www.flickr.c...57644956327185/ Robel Bullok 54.22 recreation by coghilla, on Flickr Robel Bullok 54.22 recreation by coghilla, on Flickr Robel Bullok 54.22 recreation by coghilla, on Flickr The other was the MTW100 by eurobricks member Capt K. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=79799&hl=mtw100 My flicker album https://www.flickr.c...57644956327175/ Plasser & Theurer MTW100.083/1 by coghilla, on Flickr Plasser & Theurer MTW100.083/1 by coghilla, on Flickr Work wagons by coghilla, on Flickr Work wagons by coghilla, on Flickr Work wagons by coghilla, on Flickr

    Hirail maintenance fleet grows

Thanks everyone. LOL you would think so.Need to pull my finger out and start a few track machines for the next display. I'll setup a diorama of track work/construction rather than just displaying them as i did last time.
  3. ran the Plasser Thereur at a local expo recently. It made some of the standard 4x curves, but not others. It also was thwarted by the passenger bridge. cheers
  4. Had a good look last night. As I thought the frame is tied into the train boggie piece. It would need a complete redesign to enable it to work. Part of the problem would be the width of the unit. At some points (especially over the boggies) it is 7 studs wide. There are a few jumper bricks in there.
  5. Thanks LT12V will have a look at that. There misght not be the strength in the sub frame especially at the rear. But still worthy of a look and see.
  6. Great work there Venturedude. You should be happy with your creation. No unfortunately it cannot traverse corners. I haven't tried any points. While some may see this a negative, I don't. Using the original creators comments i knew this couldn't do the corners. More pride in getting it to work for me. Also its now a mantle piece creation
  7. Following my other mow creations, here is the SRS BRB 7-4 bridge inspection vehicle. Perfect for inspecting those underside of bridges or tunnel roofs. Mobile to any site via road or rail. [moc] MOW SRS BRB 7-4 Bridge Inspection Vehicle

Glad you like the bridge. It was a quick build in under 5 mins. 6x track pieces plates and round bricks and presto. Quick bridge to now where lol. The stickers were from the 9v red/black freight set years ago. I picked up a few extra sheets back then. JopieK I prefer Scania. :-p but glad you like it.
  9. Here is my knuckleboom crane that was inspired by the SRS KRT20 semi trailer road rail crane. Still need to finish the stabilizers and others bits but i say its mostly there. As road-rail unit it can travel on both rails and the road. This enable it to travel to the work site without holding up precious track time. The crane has a reverse knuckle boom to enable works below the cantinery wires.or OLE (overhead line equipment) expandable counter weight at the rear. The double track wheels at the rear of the truck and trailer enable the loading of the whole unit from any road crossing up to 90 degrees. Watch the video to see it in action. I managed to squeeze a train weight into the trailer for extra support and ballast. This will be the first of a couple of SRS vehicles that i plan to build. The links below are to the product pages and a youtube video i found. MOC - police paddy wagon

Great varley pod as used by several police forces/services throughout Australia. Varley is the manufacturer of these.
  11. Thanks guys. While I'll accept praise for these models the real credit must go to the original builders whose work i have copied. They did the hard work of getting it to work and look right.

    Robel Work Trailer 55.54

Here is a work trailer that I have built to go with the Robel Bullok. It also appeared in the Kibri catalogue a few years ago. Robel Work Trailer by coghilla, on Flickr Robel Work Trailer by coghilla, on Flickr Robel Work Trailer by coghilla, on Flickr

    [WIP] Road rail knuckleboom crane

Hi lightningtiger, it has been hugely inspired by the actual SRS KRT20 machine. Links in my first post above. The pic here shows a standard front rail wheel setup. I have seen others on the net with lights infront as well (http://ditzj.de/html/en/trucks/scania/dsb124.html) the unimog style truck from a few years ago is a good 4x4 setup but I dont like for a standard truck setup. hence what i've done. I played a lot with click hinges and clips trying to get it to work. Cheers the V8 was in the tile box, not sure if they are really V8, but its still cool. I agree it looks too long. I think version 2 will be better. (fingers crossed) Part of the issue is the rail bogie folds up, the length of the lego crane boom. Version 2 not sure but may drop the lego boom and go for a more stylised knuckleboom crane. Also the clearance for the rail adapter from the prime mover. Not sure what you mean??/ But thank you for your comments. The prime mover has a large compressor to provide hydraulic pressure for the crane. Here are some pics from todays photos. [WIP] Road rail knuckleboom crane

Thanks guys. I finished off the model last night. Looks a lot better. Will try for a few new pics in the next few days. I'm not 100% happy with the piston arms. I think I need 2 pistons on the bottom. but that will interfere with the pistons for the top hinge. I started on a second SRS vehicle last night. Hopefully that will be finished for the photo shoot (fingers crossed).

It occurred to me that I left out a few details of the build. I have added these to the first message.

    MOC Widths

Queensland, Australia runs a narrow gauge track throughout the state. (The interstate line in the south is standard gauge). So 8 wide would work here. Although the 10 wide car above is fantastic at scale.

    MOC, Motor Tower Car MTW100.083/1

A real genius with these creations. I've recreated another model (Robel Bullok) and will start on this. The techniques used are simply amazing and very clever. (sorry to bring up an old thread)

How to build a modular house MOC?

I plan my buildings with either freebuilding or if I'm trying to recreate something using lego grid paper to draw it up and get the proportions i want. Following the Barnes & Nobel store http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80215&hl=barnes I have followed wooootles lead and raised the street up by a couple of plates.

    FDNY Rescue 3

Hi all, Started on the next project. After a failed start on the Houten fire station ( ) i couldn't find the desire to finish it, I moved on. I've started on a Staffordshire Fire & Rescue single bay station. http://www.expressandstar.com/news/2013/07/12/staffordshire-fire-stations-to-be-rebuilt-in-45m-plan/ Its proving easier to build than the other and will be pleased to see it finished. brickon

LOL since the show, I cant get the roof to fit properly. Really the roof was the easy part. The facade...well, I let my kids play with it (its lego, why not), and while fixing the roller doors the entire front facade broke. (the clear bricks dont have good clutch power) The roof hasn't been the same since.....
