  1. I waited till this morning and was able to order no problems at all (French online store). Got the hogwarts station and advent calendar as planned, but nearly got sucked in to buying the shreaking shack with the 20% discount… couldn’t justify buying all three though, as the first two got me both gifts.

  2. The building itself looks ok from the outside but at the price point I expected something more than an empty building and a glorified support for the train tracks… I realise that from a price per brick standpoint if is fine, but honestly, far too much of it has gone into making an underground cart system that essentially is just a big slide…

No complaints about the minifigure selection though and bonus points for including the Magical Menagerie (although if it’s just a closed building with no inside then 👎).

I haven't seen this mentioned yet, but is it looking to anyone else like the wand with attachment is actually a whole new dual-moulded piece, and not an attachment you can stick on any wand?

Yes, there’s definitely a new attachment piece but I’d imagine that it just fits onto a normal wand. But I agree that it’s difficult to tell at this stage.

overall I find the selection of minifigures a little lacklustre, even if the new Voldemort is very good and we do get a sprinkling of new characters. I like the HE and will probably pick that up and even though the www isn’t very exciting, I’ll probably also get that as I expect they’ll bring out new DA shops in the future and it would be good to build the street.

i love the idea of a battle pack for the BH and honestly find it very strange that this wave doesn’t include any “cheaper” sets, so maybe Lego have something up their sleeve?…

  4. I think it says it all when the best sets of the wave (so far) are the brickheads… as many have said, most of these really are an easy pass. I’ll reserve judgment on the HE until I’ve seen it in person but the minifigure line up is so disappointing.

isn’t here supposed to be a Hogsmead set as well? Or is that for later in the year?

I honestly don't get why they revealed only this single random set. It doesn't make any sense.

    Probably because of the leak..

Also, does the street sign point to potential future DA additions? It would make sense for Lego to expand the street with shops not previously included in the DA set. They have Madam Malkin’s, the Magical Menagerie and Sugarplum’s, none of which are in the DA as far as I know?

  6. That www really does not do it for me… the inside looks like a cheap moc and something my 10 year old could build. The only saving Grace could be if the potions and boxes were printed tiles, but this has ‘stickers’ written all over it.

I realise they couldn’t replicate the DA version, but this is just bad

  7. That BoH set looks huge!
But what is the writing on those blue cards? Does it look like Chinese characters?…

seriously though, that leak is far too blurry to make any real judgments from, so I’ll hold off until we get better pics. I just hope the insides of the buildings aren’t a let down

  8. So a random question for you all: what do you actually do with the sets you buy? I originally started collecting this theme for the minifigures, which I have on display in wall-mounted frames. But the sets just take up too much space and as much as I love them, I ended up boxing them away in crates.

I by no means buy all the sets, but many of you seem to buy most of them, so was just curious as to what you do with them (especially the D2C, which are far too expensive to buy and not have on display as far as I’m concerned…)

Possible, i guess we will see :shrug_oh_well:

Regarding the bank, it is possible to make it fit with DA if it has 3 floors and only the top one is the bank, but the lower ones are the vault so they are still on ground level from the outside. However if it is only the bank in the set then it is so much bigger than the buildings in DA so I do not think it will fit. Strangely enough the new WW is even smaller so how that would fit instead makes little sense to me, I guess we will see during the summer :shrug_confused:

My guess is that the bottom floor will indeed be the vaults on the inside but will look like the ground floor from the outside. I’d also assume the building will be over three floors, plus the large skylight at the top.

out of curiosity, in the DA WWW, does the brick count that was quoted here include the nocturn alley side build? I ask as I’m curious if the brick count for WWW really is that different?

    - Advent Calendar has minifigs of the trio with new torso printings (Harry with a hoodie and Ron with a hat) and Aberforth, also minibuilds of Zonko's, the Hog's Head (she calls it the Boar's Head), Honeydukes, and the Three Broomsticks.

Oh, could this be a subtle nod to future builds?! Hopefully

Always. - Severus Snape would be my personal choice.

Yes, this would certainly be a fan favourite.

I’d personally quite like to see a more detailed ‘cupboard under the stairs’ or dumbledore’s office done like this. But I could see them using this for individual classrooms.

I fully understand the price point argument with the base, although I feel that if the build is good enough then I’d definitely be keen for this style of sets.

  12. I very much doubt that they’ll be releasing any ‘expansions’ to the D2C DA. The builds are always evolving and I can’t see them adding anything to what is clearly a stand-alone set. Also, Lego will be quite aware that only limited number of people will have bought a €500 set, so bringing out an expansion to that would probably reduce the attraction for customers who don’t have DA.

I’d personally not be surprised if both the Gringotts and this DA expansion were part of a new style/series. It would make business sense for Lego to release individual DA location sets that are affordable to more people, and then expand that concept over time (basically following the same logic as the hogwarts expansion sets)

  13. As someone who never bought the previous micro-scale castle, I have to say I like the idea of an affordable ‘complete’ Hogwarts castle and grounds. The previous iteration had some great things going for it, but for my money I always felt they tried to pack too many Easter eggs in it and that it ultimately affected the quality of the overall build (more so the interior than the exterior). If this version just focussed on the overall look, then I think o could be sold. The fact it would be relatively affordable is also a bonus.

The deal clincher would be an exclusive minifigure to go with it… a guy can hope right?!
