  1. New announcement from @Brick Clicker on Instagram: 10341 Artemis I Rocket and Launchpad $259.99/€???/£??? 3601 pieces May 15th release. Artemis I, launched last year, is the first spacecraft in the NASA Artemis program that aims to return astronauts to the moon. Discuss below.
  2. Brick Clicker stated on Instagram today that the next Icons vehicle will be a Lamborghini Countach. 10337 Lamborghini Countach 1506 pieces US$179.99/€????/£???? The release date should be July 1st Discuss below. Personally quite excited for this one, though I know some people may be disappointed as there’s a decent Countach design on rebrickable as an alternative to the Porsche 911. It’ll most likely be a different colour though, so I’m interested to see which they choose.

    LEGO Trains 2024

Happy 2024 everyone. I figured that as it's now three days into the New Year it's time for a new discussion thread! So here goes with the same old history of the past few years: Standardised Train Sets 2024 ? 60423 Tram & Station ? 2023 21344 Orient Express 76423 Hogwarts Express & Hogsmeade Station 2022 60335 Train Station 60336 Freight Train 60337 High Speed Passenger Train 76405 Hogwarts Express Collector's Edition* 10308 Holiday Main Street (trolley/tram) 2021 N/A 2020 10277 Crocodile Locomotive 40370 Trains 40th Anniversary Set (GWP) 60271 Main Square (tram) 2019 70424 Ghost Train Express 71044 Disney Train 2018 75955 Hogwarts Express 60197 Passenger Train 60198 Cargo Train** 60205 Tracks 60238 Switch Tracks *not L-gauge **except Europe Sets with a strikethrough are retired. Italicised sets are ones with expected imminent retirement. No actual rumours or information yet on any 'standard' 2024 trains, though this should be the place to discuss them. Fingers crossed it won't be another empty year like 2021 but I guess we wait and see! I was expecting 60198 Cargo Train to be retired back in 2022, but it seems it has replaced the 3677/60098 slot as a second available cargo train to complement 60336. Bricklink Designer Program Separately, several trains-related BL Designer Program sets have been chosen for crowdfunding, some which I'm certainly looking forward to: Series 1 (Crowdfunding February 2024, Production and Shipping July 2024): Old Train Engine Shed by Mind_the_Brick Series 2 (Refining Finalist Details September 1st 2023 - May 1st 2024, Crowdfunding June 2024, Production and Shipping November 2024): Brick Cross Train Station by brickester Logging Railway by ties25 All require 3,000 preorders to be made and have a maximum of 20,000. I can't remember how successful preorders for Studgate were bur that can probably lead to some kind of predictions for this. Series 5 (2025) has another train set in it. I'm interested to see how these play out and how popular they are. I think it could be quite an interesting year. Discuss below, and @JopieK maybe pin the topic at the top?

    10341 Artemis I Rocket & Launchpad Discussion

Unable to find pics online but only in a private Facebook group - saw a set image leak today and it looks terrific. A month until release so official pics should appear soon.
  5. I think there's a very strong rumour that the next vehicle will be arriving fairly soon, and the details so far are as follows: 10330 693 pieces US79.99 / EUR79.99 / GBP69.99???? March 1st 2024 The latest rumour is that it will be a McLaren MP4/4, and will include an Ayrton Senna minifigure. Source: Brick Clicker (who I consider a very reliable source for rumours and leaks) I think this will be quite an interesting set, but it seems very small after the more recent sets (going by the name I would have guessed Ford Mustang / Porsche 911 size and scale). In fact, the Mustang has more than twice as many pieces, at 1471. The smallest actual car (ie not the Vespa) since the ICONS move was the Corvette this year with 1210 pieces.

    LEGO Trains 2022

As @legotownlinz listed last year, recent trains have been: 2022 60335 Train Station 60336 Freight Train 60337 High Speed Passenger Train 76405 Hogwarts Express Collector’s Edition 10308 Holiday Main Street (trolley/tram) 2021 N/A 2020 10277 Crocodile Locomotive 40370 Trains 40th Anniversary Set (GWP) 60271 Main Square (tram) 2019 70424 Ghost Train Express 71044 Disney Train 2018 75955 Hogwarts Express 60197 Passenger Train 60198 Cargo Train 2017 10259 Winter Village Station 2016 10254 Winter Holiday Train Sets with a strikethrough are retired. Itallicised sets are ones with expected imminent retirement. Bold sets are new for 2022. Following this pattern, a CITY cargo and passenger train are very likely to be released in 2022 - this two trains every four years pattern dates back to 2006. According to Brickset, 60271 will be retired at the end of 2021. The crocodile has just been retired, as has the Disney Train, meaning that once the City trains are discontinued, the Hogwarts Express will be the only one left. It’s also worth noting that the Hogwarts Express is the only Harry Potter set left from the first wave when it returned back in 2018. 2021 was the first year there hasn’t been a train set at minifigure scale, so hopefully we’ll get another other next year.

    Anyone having BMR order issues?

Sounds about right. The guy in my club got his 6-8 weeks afterwards with no real info given. BMR’s admin seems chaotic or non existent. We’re trying to get them stocked for selling over here but hear nothing at all from their team.

    Anyone having BMR order issues?

I would still order them if you want them. I’m thinking of buying some Kadee couplers soon (which requires US-UK shipping), and someone in my club did so recently and it took a few weeks but for transatlantic that’s not too bad.

    Little Crane

Lovely little MOC this - I always love the tiny things people come up with on here. There must be some pretty high tech engineering inside it to reduce the amount of energy needed.
  10. For ages known as Zebra (a code name before release, similar to banana for Hidden Side), TLG officially announced today (July 1st) the new LEGO Art theme, starting with four sets: 31197 Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe 31198 The Beatles 31199 Marvel Studios Iron Man 31200 Star Wars Sith Each set makes one of 3-4 mosaics, with the Iron Man and Sith sets being combinable to form a mega picture from 3 sets. With one set you can make 1 Beatle, 1 Marilyn Monroe, etc. The prices for each set are US$120/€120/£115. These will be available from August 1st everywhere excluding US and Canada for The Beatles, Marilyn Monroe and the Sith. Iron Man is available universally on August 1st. For those thinking this has been mentioned before, it has, but not in its own deserved thread, and basically only names of sets + theme. There was never the deserved own thread, and no pictures, which is why I’m creating it now! I don’t know about everyone else but I’m hyped for these - though disappointed at the price... Discuss here.

    LEGO Trains 2024

The other thing I find is that the high speed trains of China and Japan nearly all seem to have a variation in colour scheme of blue/white/grey - which after a while gets rather dull in my opinion. In contrast, Europe's high speed rail services are often much more colourful - take the Eurostar, Thalys, TGV Sud-Est, and the Italian Frecciarossa ETR 500. The colour schemes and overall shape of these I generally much prefer. Even the DB ICE sets are made more interesting with the contrasting red stripe, although they've done some similar city sets before. Like @Kalahari134 says, the 0 Series is instantly recognisable and a good choice should they go down the Asia-Pacific route.

    LEGO Trains 2024

Apologies - I’ve changed it now. It seems that although it’s retired in most of the world, European shops still have it in stock with no issues. There’s a ** which says this which I’ll later delete when it sells out in Europe.

Fairground Sets - Rumours and Discussion

The Loop Coaster is also predicted to require this year which would otherwise leave us with nothing which hasn't happened since the range properly began (between Grand Carousel and Fairground Mixer there was a gap but I don't think the Grand Carousel really counts as it was before the regular series kicked off).

    LEGO Trains 2024

@mod123 @Murdoch17 That's bizarre - in the UK there are no signs of it retiring anytime soon hence my inclusion of it on the list. I may therefore keep it that way for the moment - when did it retire in your country?

    LEGO Trains 2024

According to Brick Fanatics, 76405 Hogwarts Express Collector's Edition is going to retire this year. Not surprised in the slightest though - hopefully this might tell TLG that bigger is NOT always better, and we want an actual train we can run! It won't have even lasted 18 months assuming it has a December 31st retirement date. In the Harry Potter theme you would expect a big market too - the Hogwarts Castle 71043 will have been around 6 years this September and shows no signs of retiring any time soon.

[MOC] Medway 4703 "Maria"- Siemens Eurosprinter

Another stunner from you @Sérgio! I’m always so impressed with your MOCs with how you so rarely use stickers - many for the arrows would have done so but you’ve achieved it without! Perfection is one of your many skills.

MOCs: Models of trains running in Hungary

A grand station and a grand masterpiece! Very recognisable shape and style as well - I travelled from Bratislava to Budapest and then Budapest to Krakow and saw many of these on the way. Can’t wait to see pictures of the full station in operation in the near future!
  20. I mean religious buildings aren’t generally something they do (exceptions are mentioned above) but it’s a shame really considering the amount of money that goes into these architectural wonders because of their significance and the resulting ornate creations. To name a few others I would love to see: Sagrada Familia, Barcelona Saint Paul’s Cathedral, London Westminster Abbey, London Saint Basil’s Cathedral, Moscow Hagia Sofia, Istanbul Saint Stephen‘s Basilica, Budapest Berlin Cathedral, Berlin Sainte Chapel, Paris Europe alone has countless examples and there are plenty of others elsewhere. Unfortunately, LEGO’s attempted neutrality will likely never allow these to come to fruition as 7/8 of these are churches themselves and the eighth (Hagia Sophia) although a mosque was formerly a church. P.S. Following Notre Dame, I can imagine the vast onslaught of complaints they would receive from making just one more church after that and none from another religion.
  21. If it really is Notre Dame, I think it will be very interesting to see the finished product. It's an extremely ornate building, and there are a lot of complex building techniques involved. However, it's larger than some of the stadiums and previous Creator Expert sets (for example Old Trafford, Tower Bridge and the Sydney Opera House) - it doesn't belong in Architecture where smaller sets should reside. I was there that night when the fire took place, and the feeling the next day was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. I remember it having been extremely hot and dry outside two hours before the fire began, and the next day it was like the city had lost an old friend. Luckily, restoration is underway (I've revisited Paris several times since although the cathedral is closed) and she'll be back and open soon.

Maine Central 470 - "Mascot of Maine"

Nothing like one of your stunning locomotives Glenn! Always fascinating to see the techniques you use each time. The perfection in your piston rods and valve gear is always outstanding.
  23. Another fantastic expansion to the layout! Are we able to see multiple modules together or is this not possible with the amount of space you have?

    10330 McLaren MP4/4 F1 Discussion

Well I've (unfortunately) updated the thread title and description back to MP4/4, but not a great set in my opinion. We'll have to see how it turns out with more pictures beyond that one, As I'm not a completist I won't be picking this one up, but seeing as several sets I want that are retiring this year cost £1600 total it's probably no real shame that I don't want this one as well.

LEGO Art - Rumours and Discussion

Funny that we just mentioned this as it’s been leaked this will be being released this year along with The Milky Way (interested to see how they do that). 31212: The Milky Way Galaxy 3091 pieces US$199.99 May 2024 release 31213: The Mona Lisa 1503 pieces US$TBA Summer 2024 release That seems to be all the data that we’ve got so far.
