    [MOC] Cargo shed

Hi everyone, I present my latest MOC: this small cargo shed! It's packed with lots of details, which you can view below. Thanks for watching!
  2. Presenting the Shell tanker wagon ๐Ÿš‚๐Ÿ”ง As a child, my passion for trains and Lego was unparalleled, especially when it came to Lego trains! One of my cherished possessions was an older catalog showcasing the classic 12-volt trains, fueling my dream of owning those sets one day. Now, with a bit more experience under my belt, I've embarked on the journey of recreating one of those nostalgic sets. This design is a contemporary update of the classic 1986 Shell Tanker Wagon set, 7813. Incorporating modern elements, it transforms into a readily recognizable, modern iteration of this iconic set. The design posed a bit of a challenge, especially due to the intricate shaping of the domes. I had reservations about the initial digital model's structural strength in real life, but to my surprise, the build is exceptionally robust! ๐Ÿ˜Š Instructions are avaliable on Rebrickable Thank you for watching!

    LEGO #21344 - Orient Express

The locomotive and cars look gorgeous! It might be one of the best-looking LEGO trains ever released. I understand that the focus is more on the wagons than the locomotive since the license holder has restored the wagons themselves. Finally, we don't have an Emerald Night situation where people need to buy multiple sets for just one extra car. However, and for me, this is a significant concern, the carriages are huge. I love the details, don't get me wrong; these are the best-looking LEGO passenger carriages ever. But they will make my Horizon Express and other 'standard' LEGO-sized trains look like dwarfs. The locomotive also seems on the smaller side compared to the carriages, yet still looks really great. Also, it's such a shame it doesn't come with instructions on how to motorize it. I'm sure they tried their best, but it's still a bit sad. I'm confident someone will figure it out, though. I'm not sure if I'll get it, but at least us train fans finally got something new again!

MOC: Shell tanker wagon (7813 remake)

Wow, talk about thinking outside the brick! Thanks a lot for the positive vibes! ๐Ÿ™Œ It's incredible how the simple flip of a few bricks can transport us through different eras, right?

MOC: Shell tanker wagon (7813 remake)

Thanks . Here's the Octan variant. Please take note that the stickers are placed on 2x1 bricks. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an alternative method to position them in Studio.

MOC: Shell tanker wagon (7813 remake)

Thanks! Appreciate the positive vibes Thanks for the compliment! I appreciate your suggestion about removing the white plate row to enhance the spherical shape of the tanks. However, it's worth noting that the white plate contributes to the stability of the construction Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you love the wagon, especially the Shell colors. Your positive feedback is much appreciated. By the way, while doing some research, I came across some of your posts featuring modified sets featuring Shell colors โ€“ they're fantastic! Thank you so much! I appreciate the suggestion that it could be a real set. It's a great compliment . I wish LEGO would release some rolling stock sets like in the golden era of 12-volt and 9-volt trains, but I don't think they'll do that anytime soon. At least that gives us MOCers something to do. Thank you! I'm delighted to hear that you think the reimagining of 7813 is perfect I appreciate your feedback! I'm glad you like the improved look. Thanks for taking the time to check it out!

    LEGO #21344 - Orient Express

The coaches look fantastic, and I somewhat appreciate the steam engine. However, this set probably isn't my cup of tea. The coaches appear enourmous, especially when compared to older options like those from the Horizon Express and Emerald Night. Moreover, I find it rather peculiar that they chose to entirely revamp the IDEAS submission instead of adapting the original idea to a scale more suitable for train tracks. Nonetheless, the set's overall appearance is quite appealing, whether with or without the engine. It's however a bit disheartening that we haven't seen a train set as groundbreaking as the Emerald Night in the past decade.

This! If only we knew it would be minifig scale or not I would be happy ๐Ÿ˜
  10. Hi everyone! After a brief 'dark age' spanning a few years, I've now designed and built a new cargo train locomotive. I wanted something that exudes a sense of 'heavy industry' and initially created a prototype that didn't quite meet my expectations (see image bellow). This model takes inspiration from both the Lego Creator Maersk train, incorporating most of its general structure, and the Polish SM31 shunter locomotives. The locomotive showcases a sleek, black exterior accented with yellow and white details. Because of the primary color, I affectionately named it the "Coffin" locomotive, akin to the real-life SM31's nickname (Trumna). The locomotive closely resembles parts of the the distinctive SM31 train, and the cabin is designed for a minifigure operator, complete with a control panel. Additionally, it's equipped with Power Functions, including a battery box, a train motor, and an IR receiver. Before settling on the black color scheme, I explored various digital iterations, considering options like yellow, red, blue, and green. Ultimately, I chose black for its cost-effectiveness, leveraging parts I already owned. However, it did result in the photos having slightly lower quality due to the darkness of black. The digital model is readily available for download using Lego Studio: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-158217/Brickviller/coffin-heavy-shunter-locomotive/#details The prototype version, mostly based on an elongated version of the red cargo train 3677. Please take note: Although the digital model featured a light bluish-grey windscreen piece, I discovered that no such part exists in that color when I started building it. I sourced the piece from a custom vendor, and it's not an official Lego component. In the future, I plan to replace it with an original Lego piece in white, which is readily available.

    [MOC] 'Coffin' heavy shunter locomotive

Thanks! I really like the design of these trains as well. I'm still planning to create a red version like the one from set 3677 for a future MOC, which was my favorite train set before selling it (and then buying another and selling that one too).

    [MOC] 'Coffin' heavy shunter locomotive

Thank you very much! I hope Lego considers releasing another cargo train in the Creator Expert style. It would be great if the upcoming Orient Express set is minifig scale and performs well. Perhaps this success could pave the way for more train sets in the future! ๐Ÿ˜Š

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

The AT-AT is kinda okay-ish for me. I like how they were able to do all the interior parts. It even fits the speederbike like the original! But for some reason it feels off... maybe it's the very skinny legs compared to the more bulkier body/head. Or maybe it's the size of the head compared to the body. Or maybe all of the above. At least my wallet will be happy. Also does anyone else feel the angle the shot was taken for the boxart is a little weird? I just feel the shot doesn't do the set all justice it deserves, much like with the AT-M6's boxart.

LEGO City 2020 - Rumors, Speculation, and Discussion

Getting major JackStone vibes from the lineup so far. Just not my thing. At least they did try to make the big plane different, since weยดve kinda had the same one in different colors since 2005 (?). My wallet can relax again :-)

LEGO Star Wars 2020 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

No, but the fact they use a kinda lazy aproach for a small problem which has been solved years ago, having a very steep parts-price ratio and still asking more than top dollar does make it not worth the price, for me. I do think it looks cool though, but just not worth that price. Hopefully the AT-AT will be better

    Thoughts on TROS?

I grew up during the Prequels, which are considered by many some of the worst Star Wars movies. I loved TESB as a kid, and was always dreaming of owning the old AT-AT walker. I did like episode 3 as a kid, mostly because of the awesome visuals and worldbuilding, something the OT did right too, but the PT is much more massive (while sacrificing story, character development and such). Now I wasn't into Star Wars that much when the new movies came out, but TFA was okay, I really liked Rogue One (almost as good as TESB), but after that with TLJ and SOLO, I just didn't feel it anymore. I really wished I could be excited for this new movie, get my hopes up and actually see them fullfilled, but the new trilogy lacks so much for me. I feel it doens't do a good job at worldbuilding and the story is largely a mish-mash of PT OT and EU stories. I do like that ol'Palps is back, but that's about it. I do like the trailer, some of the new vehicles (we seem to be getting a lot of those). Then to me Star Wars is also more than the movies alone, Lego and games are part of it too. Now there was a large controversy about the Battlefront 2 lootbox debacle, which also lowered my exitement for the new Fallen Order game. All in all I think Dinsey made a lot of mistakes the past years, causing me to not be that hyped about anything Star Wars related anymore. I do have some hope for the Mandalorian, (Sorry for the long story)
  18. Yeah it does influence my purchase desicion. Episode 8 & 9 (and probaly 10), together with Rebels are all a no-go for me. The designs of the vehicles are just not for me I think. I did like the Solo and Rogue one movies a bit better, and I liked those designs more so I bought a few sets. I really really hope the Mandolorian is any good..

LEGO Star Wars 2019 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!

Ofcourse everything is relative, but I don't think the new Yoda is that appaling. Not that I would buy it, since I'm not into those figures but I think they did their best to make it look like an actual Yoda. The only thing that really has my attention is the new Supreme Leader Kylo Ren's Shuttle. I missed out on the older one (on purpose) but I do kinda dig the overal design and the fact they actually made it accurate now makes it very tempting to buy it. The figures are cool too, and I hope we get a battlepack that includes those Sith troopers (and hopefully a jetpack trooper too). The rest of the wave is a little meh to me. Nothing really new, just improvements and color changes, which kinda sums up most of the ST for me.

Lego City 2019 - Rumours, Speculation and Discussion

Yeah, looking at the next quarter line-up of a certain Chinese brick producer it does look like Lego gets more cautious with preliminary pictures for good reasons... Still, if it's anything like the above example I would be quite happy

    [MOC] Modular Train station

Hi everyone, In this topic I wanted to show you all my progress on my first modular building for a new city called Canalview. Currently I lack the space to actually display a city, so I wanted to really take the time to design and create each building. The first one is a grand central station. In the past years I made several attempt to create such a building, of which some are more succesfull than others. Here's a quick summary of my earlier attempts: Canalview Grand Central Station 2017 After months of hard work, the station has finnaly been finished. More pictures below and here More pictures of the station (with interior) can be found here Older updates Update 26 November 2017 Update 17 September 2017 Update 26 August 2017 Update 14 August 2017 Update July 2017 Hope you all like it so far, please if you have any comments or tips feel free to post them

Train MOCs and Builders - Who/What is Your Inspiration?

My inspiration comes from a lot of builders (mostly on Flickr), but for my latest building I was inspired by Feanor-001ยดs train station: Which resulted in my own train station:

    Homemade Road Plates

These look really nice, and they almost look like the real things. It seems like a really good alternative to the ones Lego sells, especially since they combined the kind of roads (t-junction with curve and the crossing with straight road) which is not my favorite strategy for these kind of things. Are you planning to create more custom prints for these? Like a bicycle or bus lane?
